They had no snack bar, the old school vending machine was sold out and there was nobody there.. it was quite depressing. it's nothing like the fun of Sam's! Friday evening around 6:30 pm I visited the store with my newborn son.  When I was ready to check-out I had a full cart and a stroller that I was pulling alongside. There were no registers open asside from the self-checkouts so I stopped over to the customer service desk and asked if there was a register that could check me out.  The woman told me, "only self-checkout was open". I asked why only self-checkout was open and was dismissed, she said, "that's all that is open". There were 3 people at customer service and 3 people around the self-checkout. I don't mind self-checkout, but I was juggling a full cart and a newborn baby. In addition to my BJ's account, I also pay for memberships to Sam's Club and Costco. I'm not sure what's happening at BJ's but given the option I'd much rather go down the block to Sam's club or drive 30 minutes to Costco. read more

I broke my glasses on Sunday, August 3, while traveling and staying in Monroe, North Carolina. Since I purchased the frames at my local BJ's in Cary, North Carolina, I looked for the closest BJ's to my hotel. It was in Pineville. After standing at the optical center counter for almost ten minutes, the optical center manager acknowledged my presence. She was with another customer, but somewhere in that period of time, she could have said "Be with you in a minute," She did not. Regrettably, when the vision center manager, Annette Johnson, finally addressed my issue, her response was a series of 'Nots!' I probably do NOT have that frame! Her dismissive response was, 'You should NOT bring them here. Take them back to your Cary Store!' They are NOT under warranty, she said, and you will have to pay full price. I told her that it was my third time having problems with the frames and that maybe I should go back to Lens Crafters. She said my going to Lens Crafters was "no threat to her!" She would be paid either way. I told her I was a business owner and would not adopt that point of view. She loudly repeated three times..."Don't Go There! Don't Go There! Don't Go There! Then, she went into a tirade about how she took pride in her work and so on. I had no evidence of that pride. This was a despicable way to treat a customer who had a vision issue due to broken glasses. I will not return to this BJ's and will never buy frames or glasses from any BJ's. read more

I just left bj's and literally waited at the deli counter for an hour and 20 minutes with four customers in line ahead of me. I watched as one employee continued doing prep with a line of customers in front of her, while the other slowly helped customers as they engaged in casual conversation. They seemed to be trying to dissuade customers from coming to the deli counter with their horrible customer service. The other customers were visibly upset, I know this isn't what customer service is supposed to be I am employed in the customer service industry as a manager and I was embarrassed for you as this is a representation of your company. Worst bjs I've ever been to. This location either needs to be shut down or hire all new employees. I've never seen a store have no registers open and only self checkout while the employees stand around doing nothing. Employees also had told us conflicting information about retrieving medication from a locked box sending us to multiple different people on a wild goose chase while our $500 worth of food is melting. Shelves were empty and not stocked as well as the store being generally dirty. Bathroom was so disgusting too. Don't waste your time going here and just go to a different location. read more

Been coming here for years, like their meats, especially the lunchmeat they slice at their deli counter. Their bakery is good especially their cinnamon muffins and chocolate eclairs. Bought several Samsung TVs here and got good deals during holidays. It is smaller than Costco and Sams, but parking seems to be easier. They do need a few more cashiers to be open during weekends. The Thanksgiving free turkey promotion is a sham. They entice you to spend $150 in one transaction to obtain a free turkey later. You go back for the turkey....NONE, out of stock. The clerk working the meat area has no idea when, or if, turkeys will be stocked. Turkeys need DAYS to thaw in preparation for Thanksgiving dinner. Absolutely worthless to someone relying on that turkey to feed their family on Thanksgiving. They have already fleeced you for their $150. No consideration to you for your out of pocket $150. If you've ever been to a Sam's Club (and I was a member a few years back), then the experience at a BJ's will be the same. Gigantic big box store (larger than your typical Wal-Mart) with high bay racks of storage that go all the way up to the ceiling. BJ's is a membership store and while you can do a trial shop (15% surcharge), you're better off simply joining for $50 a year. Yes, the do have specials and discounts but those are not year round. As for the stuff, well, there's nearly everything. You might not be able to do a full grocery shop but you can certainly buy up a cartloads worth of stuff and in the process save some money on the bulk. Two-packs of some things seemed to be maybe half-again the price of buying one at Harris Teeter. Others are competitive with what you might find at Wal-Mart. I was impressed with the decent selection of pet food products, including a 50 pound bag of the same dog food I usually get at Petsmart but $10 cheaper. So yes, I joined. And I'll be back. The gas is cheaper than others nearby but it's still more expensive than going to South Carolina. read more

First time visiting this BJ's Wholesale Club. We found it cause we were almost out of gas in Pineville and needed fuel. This BJ's is huge and overwhelming. They have tons of stuff. You can spend the whole day here going from aisle to aisle. Make a list of the items you are shopping for or else you get distracted. It's like a department store here. I still like the BJ's in Mooresville for they have the lovely sample ladies with products for you to try. At this Pineville location there was not many sample stations. BJ's makes the best bagels. Nothing compares to NYC bagel, but the BJ's bakery makes the bagels just like NYC. I am totally hooked. read more

Tire center is useless.. I bough 4 new tires and they installed them for me. After I left I noticed that the tire lights are ON. And I went there again to fix the issue . Looks like they screw something and my tire lights alarm never turned off. Had flat tire and went there , they supposed to fix it. They give me 4 days ahead appointments, I went there at my appointment day and my name wasn't listed. I made another appointment to replace my back tires and I waited 2 months for a phone call to come install the tires. They never call The employees worked there always have no customers in the shop and never agree to do in spot service. My home is next to bjs. I never see them working in any car. After 5. They may be take like 2-3 appointment per day. They layback and have too much fun doing nothing. Go to Costco or bjs for tire. read more

I haven't been a member of a wholesale club for a few years, but have had previous memberships at both BJ's and Costco. Quite honestly, I like Costco a little better than BJ's but the location of BJs is better for us, so we decided to go ahead and get a membership here again. This location has not changed much since I last shopped here a couple of years ago. One thing I noticed is that they seemed to have a slightly better selection of beer & wine than they did before. Also, they have better selections now for Seltzer and Sparkling water. The employees on this visit were friendly and helpful... pricing was pretty good on the items we bought. We stocked up on beer, soda, seltzer, chips, buns, cookies and other things for a party and were thrilled at how much we got for our $$. It was very reasonable. Definitely looking forward to putting the membership to good use anytime we have BBQs and other gatherings! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for BJ's yet. I practically live there. When we moved to South Charlotte we researched to see where Costco was. There wasn't one that was close to us. So we looked at what was available. We initially joined Sam's but after a year & not buying much of anything we decided to give BJ's a try. My wife still shops at other stores but I do the bulk of my shopping at BJ's. Why? Well its very convenient to my house. I live about 5 miles away. They're gas is pretty inexpensive compared to other pumps in the S. Charlotte/Pineville area. THey have a great selection of food. I like being able to buy food from them that can make three or four meals rather than one buying from Harris Teeter. They often have strange flavors of ice cream for sale that are cheaper than some of the national brands. They also have a great bakery. Like other wholesale clubs they carry a variety of merchandise other than food. Its a good place to look for movies. Best Buy used to be my go to store for movies. But they're prices are too high & their selection is terrible. The other thing I really like about BJ's is that the employees are friendly. When I stopped in yesterday the girl manning the door, Gussie, had just received an award marked by a golden name badge for being an exceptional employee. We talked for a bit & she told me about her manager Rusty, (looks like Penn Gillette), and the way that the managers have been supportive & mentoring. Anyhow I find BJ's to offer great value for the money with friendly employees & good prices for gas. read more

A challenger to Costco, which seems to be working as the nearest Costo is in Matthews, located well to the east. Not as large, but plenty of volume items. Prices in some cases are better than Costco. When you join you get a bunch coupons and a $50 restaurant gift card. Pretty good,. even if you end up not liking the place. Helpful staff, butcher shop and the samplers frequented by seniors who are chatting them up and eating their lunch via their generosity and patience. This review is from new customers based on our first purchase at this location. We purchased a membership in order to purchase an outdoor gazebo. The only one (this model) remaining in the region was a floor model at this store. We were told we needed to come in and pay for it ($940.) Upon arrival we were told that we needed to wait a few days for it to be dismantled. We received a call that it was ready & returned to the store. Upon arrival the gazebo was indeed dismantled but parts were strewn over 3 flat carts, in no order, not in boxes, with complete disregard for the buyer. (The boxes had been thrown away). We refused to accept it this way, betting that parts were missing or damaged. The manager wouldn't apologize. They initially offered a store credit and needed a manager to override it! What customer service! Pretty angry that we joined, made 2 considerable trips for nothing and don't have the (only) item we wanted. BJ's Customer Service informed me that I would have to buy a $40 dollar one year membership that I could get a refund up to one year. They basically give you the first 60 days free, then 12 additional months for $40, then $50 the next year after that. They should just state. The staff was very nice, the store was clean and easy to move around. I liked the variety and selection of items. I generally go in with tunnel vision, because if my eyes start straying, before I know it my buggy is filled up with random cool things they have like Ginsu Knives, Brita Bottle, Ceramic Cooker, whole pork shoulder etc... I love BJ's. The bakery and deli are the best parts! , coincidentally I just saved some money by buying my tires here, too! They did a great job and I got my shopping done while I waited. Coincidentally their lawn and garden section is the reason I don't have any money in the summer. And I would like to buy all the clothes! Was also told I get free $50.00 gift certificate at Restaurant.com. The very next day I get BJ email offering cheaper membership than I had paid. Also come to find I need to spend $100 to save $50, but at restaurants nowhere close to home. I try calling BJ's and wait over 30 minutes on hold. No offer to adjust my membership so I ask for $40.00 refund. 2 weeks and so far no refund has hit my account.
