Prices are too high. Probably because no other Halal meat store is near them. I don't plan on going there again unless I'm desperate.

All sorts of interesting imported items here and I'm glad to see that the Charlotte area is attracting more and more people to our metropolis. I'm not a halal eater but I enjoy interesting and unique items. Lots of that here for sure. Canned goods, candies, nuts, sauces, spices, fresh vegetables, a butcher counter and more. Teas, frozen items, fresh breads and more. Prices were a little high but this is stuff that you definitely won't find in the ALDI across the parking lot or the Food Lion down the street. This is a most wonderful store. You must visit often to see what is available, so it becomes a part of the weekly schedule, if not daily. They have beautiful meat, excellent selection of pita, a beautifully stocked refrigerator of dairy goods, as well as refrigerated and frozen goods (lots of lovely snacks and desserts!), plus crammed aisles full of everything from spices, to herbs, noodles, rice, olives, sweets, oils, basic ingredients, canned goods from all over the Middle East, plus home goods and everything necessary to equip a kitchen and backyard barbecue. Recently moved to small town SC from ohio, where i had plenty of middle eastern stores to choose from. Now i have to drive 45 minutes but it was worth it. I was able to stock up on some of my favorite cardamon tea, foul medammas, pickles, soup starter and stuffed eggplants in a jar. They even had those hard dry yogurt balls for mansaf. I will definitely go back and recommend for anyone needing a taste of the middle east read more

We stopped by Yafa Market because my wife was craving Falafel. Upon entering we were greeted immediately. I walked to the back where I thought the takeout counter would be and to my disappointment, no falafel. What a bummer. We browsed the market quickly and items were expensive, but in defense of these "specialty supermarkets" most things are imported and that does drive the price of things up. I don't mind supporting small minority owned businesses. In fact I welcome it. As we were leaving, I asked the gentleman at the cash register about the falafel and he said they do not serve them anymore. Maybe in June he says. Okeedokee. My goodness, where do I even start? Upon walking into the store I was greeted by a very friendly employee who was a very pleasant gentleman. We had a lovely exchange in which we talked about our childhoods and our specific cultures both having been from Arab communities. I walked up and down every aisle of the store and looked at every product they have very carefully and I will tell you that they have one of the finest selections that you're going to find in this area if you were looking for childhood Arabic food favorites. This place literally just slaps so hard! They have Halal meat, they have an incredible range of products from every Arabic speaking nation on the planet. A quiet store in a sleepy shopping center...but don't pass it by! Stop in, look around, and you'll find fresh spices, freezers full of items, and friendly employees. There is talk about making part of this a cafe, but right now, they only sell some fresh baklava and cookies from a Turkish bakery. Some of my favorite items are olives in the back, bags of mixed nuts in the front, and lots of bags of rice or spices. If you need a hookah or Middle Eastern wall decor, they have that here too. I'm glad I found this store, I'll be back to stock up whenever Arabic cuisine is on the menu at my house! read more

I don't understand why this place has gotten negative reviews. I have been coming here for a few years and never had a bad experience. This is a great location for anyone on this side of town to fill any need for Middle Eastern goods. Excellent feta, olive oil, and olives which are my main needs. There is a butcher in the back with a menu, but I've never ventured back there. Although not much English is heard in the store, the man at the cash register speaks English perfectly and has given me great recommendations for which brands he prefers when I need advice. The assorted baklava trays are amazing. A few are usually sitting out, with even more in the freezer nearby. read more

The meat guy could use some training in customer service (as in smile and be helpful) but otherwise the halal lamb and beef are good. The chicken breasts look and taste like the chickens were on steroids or Red Bull. They are HUGE and taste like cardboard. read more

Looking for a dozen varieties of grape leaves/dolma or haloumi cheese? How about a new hookah? This place has got it. Like many of the mom-and-pop type ethnic marts, the selection is good on the staples. Here it's things like olives, kefir and other yogurt drinks, Turkish delight candies, and like Faith D. said in her review, mixed nuts, spices and baklava. The store is run by very friendly Middle Eastern folks who are happy to explain what certain items are, and suggest treats. Judging by the dust on some of the canned goods, I suspect not all items have a fast turnover. (The demand probably isn't as high.) I wouldn't let this deter you from checking out the shop, and picking up some unique items. read more

As everyone mentioned, if you are here to buy Chicken/Lamb , do yourself a favour, Turn back and speed away. They have different weight conventions which I guess align with their standards but not the rest. When I asked about the wieght difference, the answer I got was that it's the same in all the other shops so we are doing it. Even the pre-packed meat bags has wrong weight labels. read more

The meat counter service is awful. They are rude and condescending, especially if you're a woman. The rest of the store is well stocked although the layout doesn't make sense. Charlotte halal stores have a lot to learn from their counterparts in other parts of the country. read more

The variety of products for sale is good, but do not purchase from the meat market as they cheat you. The first time I asked for 16 chicken legs and when I got home there were 19 legs in the package. The second time I went I asked for 6 lamb shanks and they gave me 9. Either they are cheating by selling more than what is asked for or they never went to school and don't know how to count. read more

When I went into store for 1st time a man and his son were at front counter both totally absorbed in their phone and ipad. I was only customer but they did not greet me or offer any help. I later saw an older man (maybe the owner?) but he also did not greet me or ask if I needed anything. I was interested in the items in the store, had great variety but I won't shop where there is poor customer service. Maybe other reviewers are right and they don't like women. They should put a sign out front Men Only and the electronics should be taken from the front counter and maybe they will offer some customer service read more

I see a lot of complaints about the meat, I just recently went there to get some halal meat and yes is a little pricey but is worth it, the lamb was very tender and the chicken very fresh and clean. I would definitely go back, I rather buy this meat that the meat from groceries stores full of hormones and not fresh. read more

The major complaint I have about this cafe is GOAT/Lamb Meat. The Meat they sell is not at all tender and really hard to cook. Till now I tried 3 times and all 3 times had very bad experience cooking it. The Butcher also does not cut meat/chicken very well. never buy Goat/Lamb meat here. New restaurant just opened in grocery shop. On Sunday 4/29/12 I went in for kebab. Cost of plate of food was $9.00. I ordered 2 lamb kebab skewers, salad and hummus. Service was terrible. I was the only patron in the restaurant and had to wait over 30 minutes. Portion served was disappointing: 8 pieces of 1 inch chewy lamb cube kebab, 3 tablespoonful of salad that looked like "pico de gallo" and the same amount of delicious smooth hummus. They offered me bread and I declined. I have been to Middle Eastern restaurants where they serve whole lot food for $9.00. This restaurant is stingy with their portions. I got mutton(goat leg) which was 6 pounds for 9$/lb. I got it chopped, went home and cooked it. It is the worst meat I had eve cooked in my life. I cooked in a pressure cooker for 45 minutes( almost 45 whistles, not kidding literally 45 whistles). The kidney pieces I added to the mutton has all melted by the time the mutton was cooked. Even after that, it tasted like leather. Had to throw away everything. read more

There weighing scale ( always 200 grams less compare to 2 LB), quality of meat ( most of the meat is trash, as it looks like they sell left overs of the ground meat which are nothing but bones. I strongly don't recommend this place to anyone living in Charlotte or near by cities to buy meat from. I went there to get exactly 2lbs of meat. He goes and pulls out the meat to weigh it and tells me that it's 4lbs and I need to buy 4lbs and doesn't want to make it 2lbs. Let alone he sells 10$/lb . I ended up getting 4lbs even though I was only asking for 2lbs .This place is a ripe off. read more

All frozen meat, they just take it from the fridge and throw it on your face. They don't cut the meat properly. Tell them to weigh it again and you would find the difference in what is written on the cover and the actual weight of the meat you get. The cut meat is very big in size and you should cut it again after going home. Filthy place and the smell is awful. read more

I do not about other meat stuff. But I went their to buy cut up whole chicken and it was cut already and kept frozen. When I got home I found all bones in that. I suspect that they removed all most of flesh to sell it separately. I am not going there again. read more
