This place is always packed. I always have to park far away when I come. I stopped in for just 3 items, left with about 20. Things really add up quickly at bjs so you definitely have to be careful. I love the book section, they always have current books at low prices. I remember a time when you could get water cheap here about 3.50, now it's up to 7/8.00 a case for deer park. Some things are just ridiculous high and others are pretty reasonable. So you have to pay attention to what your buying. The comedians love these places. They talk about shoppers buying 55 gallon drums of maple syrup and leaving it in their will to the next generation! I know some of the quantities are ridiculously huge but sometimes the values are to. We don't go often, maybe three or four times a year. We grab a few things that that we eat/use often. Boneless skinless chicken breasts and laundry detergent are just two examples. We freeze those chicken breasts in meal sized packages. Perfect for us! It's easy to find deals that are way way better than supermarket prices. Not everything but many things. It's also easy to get a temporary card that will let you try them for a month. Depending on any current deals, the annual card will set you back $30 or $40. Give them a try for a month and see for yourself. You could be in dire need of 5000 trash can liners! read more

On May 4th while shopping at this location I was approached by an At&t representative regarding switching my phone to At&t. The rates were cheaper than my previous provider so I switched five phone lines over to At&t which has been a nightmare. Only two out of the five lines work. I've called AT&T numerous times; I finally went to the AT&T store to get help and they couldn't locate my account using my social security number but my name and address is correct. The store couldn't use SSN because the AT&T rep at BJS used a bogus SSN which is FRAUD. I visited the store and called numerous times and I was ignored!!!! This is how BJS allow other companies to treat their customers!!! read more

Okay so last time I was here was a torture, see my last review if your interested in the gory details. My sad adventure occurred on 4/6/22. I sent an email complaint to corporate, cause yes I am that person, and I received a call today 4/22/22 from an assistant manager at the store. Poor guy it must be his job to deal with complaints, because he rambled off a quick apology and offered me 25 gift card for my troubles. Unfortunately for this underpaid hero, I wanted to chat a bit. After our chat, I promise I was nice, he assured me the following things would happen: 1. They are getting new registers in customer service in a month and they will no longer have to enter your returns item by item manually. 2. He would reward the customer service cashier who had to spend over 30 minutes manually adjusting a register error on my receipt while being treated rudely by her co workers. 3. That they are working on finding new employees and helping to make customer service an actual service and not the title of a job nobody wants to perform. So because the assistant manager listened to me and gave me some assurance of possible changes for the better, I agreed to give them another try. I really don't want to go back. But I would have to wait in line and visit customer service to cancel my membership, so lol I'm taking the gift card and trying again. Wish me luck! read more

Used to go to this club when I lived nearer to it. I always DREADED having to deal with BJ's, inside and out! First, the Springfield club's parking lot is always a nightmare. There is a car auction behind it, Forman Mills used to be nextdoor, and the lot becomes a typical SE Delco pit of dumping garbage out of your car, spitting, leaving carts to run into other vehicles, cig-butts everywhere, etc., and then the ensuing seagulls and pools of toxic sludge after a rain... SO GROSS! They never seem to clean it. Inside, it is not as organized or clean as other clubs, it is always PACKED due to the population density in the area, and lines at Deli and checkout are always a 20+ min wait. They also don't carry all the products that other clubs do, especially nicer items. The optical staff is rude, although the regular BJ's staff is, for the most part, decent. The other customers, however, are crazy! I dared to start operating the self-checkout one time before the man in front of me got his last item off of the belt, and he launched into a 5-minute screamfest. The BJ's associate nearby had to come over and apologize for him. It was insane. Another fun time was when we got ticketed after parking EXACTLY where BJ's Tires told us to park at the side of the building, so they could service us. Hours wasted battling the local po-po about that one. No apology from BJ's after letter to the manager. Tires people told us it happens ALL THE TIME, and the police basically sit there waiting for their next victim. Why not DO SOMTHING about this??? Why tell people to keep parking there? Reluctantly, I had planned to visit today because I had other shopping in the area. I called to get a price for Kleenex and was put on hold by Suzie for TWENTY MINUTES before I hung up with no information. Thanks, Suzie! So helpful! Will not be back! (I had to call another club for the price and got the info in seconds. And, btw, Kleenex is cheaper at Staples anyway. BJs = 8x210ct boxes for $13.49, and Staples = 4x160ct boxes for $4.99, Staples is cheaper.) Other clubs, ANY other club, is a million times better than this one! I feel sorry for locals who know nothing else, because the membership you PAY FOR does NOT have to be for an experience like the Springfield location. * * * TIP * * * If you do need to visit this club, the one positive is that they honor coupons up to 2 weeks AFTER expiry, while Oaks and Conshohocken only honor them for a week after expiry. read more

My parents and I were shopping for artificial Christmas trees and found the perfect one but couldn't find the box on the floor. The only tree available was the display and luckily we were able to buy it. The 3 staff then proceeds to help taking the tree apart, looking for boxes to fit the pieces into and load them up and take to the register. Tammy, Sharron and John went above and beyond. Better than average supermarket with helpful employees and free samples. The main thing I hate about all BJs in general is the fact that they do not have bags. It makes the check out process so annoying. I come prepared, my car is always empty to make room for all of the over sized packages. I pick out my carrying boxes ahead of time too. When checking out make sure to do your oversized items last so you can keep the belt clear. It is worth the membership, I just wonder how much better this place could be. read more

The worst BJ's ever. Ordered tires from there was told they would be in the next day (Wednesday) still not there (Friday). Called to speak to someone the phone just rings for well over 10 minutes. Go to the store to get a refund so I call customer sec while I am in line and no phone ringing could be heard. So, apparently the ringers have been turned off. Spoke to a manager who tells me perhaps they (customer sec reps) were busy. As I explained to her the phone is not ringing. I love this location. I have no huge issues with the store. My peeve is when I buy the big bag of salad mix with the red cabbage and the carrots. I always try to get the best date, that will allow me to have a few days before spoiling. That has not worked lately. The date on the bag usually gives about 4 or maybe 5 days. The salad starts to wilt and become a huge bag of wetness and soggy salad the very next day after opening it. We always start eating it the first day of purchase. I purchased four tires on June 24, 2020. On August 1, 2020 I got a flat. I drove to BJ's early Saturday morning and the no speaking service person (I said hello and he didn't acknowledge that was there) said he has to make an appointment to check the tire. My wife purchased a windex product with a coupon. When she got it home she realized she'd gotten the wrong product and returned to exchange it. The assistant manager who wears his name tag backwards so as not to be identified refused to allow the coupon to be applied to the exchange. Basically all other things equal he wanted her to pay full price on the new product when she'd gotten a coupon discount on the first product. Why? He just wanted to be argumentative and difficult. On her previous visit customer service was unable to get her a new membership card because "the manager was taking out the trash". For the rest of night?!? Seriously? Customer service at this location is nonexistent and staff acts like they are doing you a favor to get anything done. The only exception is the gentleman who often checks receipts at the exit. He's probably got the most difficult job in the place and he always manages to keep it fun. When our membership expires we will switch to Costco. read more

This review is for the Tire Center. I called needing to get my tire looked at that day because it kept deflating. I called this location after a rude response from a different BJs tire center. The man on the phone at this location was great, and had me scheduled to come in within minutes. I got there and there were two very nice men who were able to find a screw on my tire, seal it and have me back on the road within an hour and a half. I never felt incompetent or taken advantage of like you can at some of these places. Thank you!! read more

I came back here when they offered a really discounted price for a yearly membership. I signed up but the want to sign you up for a whole host of things- credit card, different membership for more money, etc. Some things have changed... many more TVs, now mostly self checkouts and more drinks than ever. They still have limited choices in large volumes. Parking is still a nightmare and help is limited. You will still do better than the supermarket except when the typical market has a great sale and you have a coupon. Did I save $25---what I paid for the annual membership. Not yet. Sooooo if you don't go a couple of times a month, it may not be worth the time and membership. read more

Honestly, the prices aren't any better than Wal-Mart. I really don't see what the big deal is. The selection is good, but they are constantly out of staple items. For example- the last time I went, they were out of spinach and a few other things that no one is ever out of. And the lines take forever. Warning- don't buy appliances or electronic a items there. This is a typical big box discount club store. Located in the old Piasecki Helicopter Corporation building, you can still see the old control tower in one corner of the roof. The membership costs about $45 a year and the store offers all manners of goods, from TVs and Computers to books, rugs and seasonal items. About half the huge retail space is taken up by a grocery store, selling supermarket type foods in larger sizes. There is a bakery and deli section, also. I've found prices to be less expensive to regular 'non membership' retail stores, for items like TV's, but the 'buying in bulk' aspect is, sometimes more trouble than it's worth. While a printer cartridge may be available at a few dollars less than a typical retail price, having to buy a package of 5 may cost more than you're willing to spend at the time, unless you're sharing the price with a few friends. Likewise, the prices for the large size snacks, like chips and pretzels, do not seem to be discounted like foods, so you would, just as likely spend the same or even less in a regular store. Frozen bulk foods, like chicken or meatballs are less expensive than the norm, but you'll need to make room in your freezers for the 5lb bags, so don't go hog wild, then discover you don't have the room. As with most discount stores, cashiers do not bag purchases. You have to use the shopping cart to haul them to your car, then place them in, individually, unless you grab some of the empty boxes, or remember to bring your own bags. read more

I really can't understand why people would pay money to join this club. I applied for the free 90 trial membership to check it out. Armed with the Giant circular in hand and Target and Amazon loaded on my phone I compared prices on all the items I buy most. The ONE single product that was actually a better deal at BJ's was cat litter, and only marginally so compared to Target prices. So why on earth would I pay an extra fee for the "privilege" to shop here? Additionally I found customer service to be unknowledgeable (there's a flyer on the desk advertising discounts on gas when you use their club credit card so I asked where the closest club is that has a gas station and the attendant couldn't tell me) and frustrating ("hi, I'd like to sign up for the free 90 trial membership", "ok, do you want the free 90 days or do you want to pay $45 for 90 days?", "uhhh, free?"). They also carry a very limited selection of products (I found only 2 toothpaste options on the shelves). Hubs tagged along for a stop here on a Sunday and was also severely disappointed that the hype about free samples was unfounded. And the coupon book didn't have any deals on products I need. My final gripe is with their return policy. They scan your membership card at checkout so they have a log of everything you purchased and for how much. Why then do you need to provide a receipt for returns? Without one the refund is issued in the form of store credit. Target's got me spoiled by how easy it is to make returns when shopping with their Red Card. Maybe I'm just not buying the right products, but I don't find it to be worth the cost and hassle to shop here. read more

Folks, don't take this BJ's for granted. Moved to NJ and their BJ's are terrible. You have a great staff who'll help you out with coupons even if they expire or too early. Nice. They know their product (mostly) and know where it is placed. It's really fast for check out. I know. I know. Sometimes it's too darn crowded, but the lines move with the help of the employees. NJ... they just stand around unless you flag them down. It's as though they become blind when the help lights come on. Geez. All in all, this place rocks for what it is. I recently received from BJ's "Wholesale" Club the option for a free three months membership or a year's for $25. Sounded like a bargain, but NAH! I chose the freebie and decided to buy four items I needed. I compared the cost of each item with my local Giant Supermarket. The items were not identical in quantity, but the same in quality; thus, I did the math and compared them per ounce and/or quantity. The items were Original Liquid Tide, Scott brand toilet paper, sparkling juice by Welch and Dawn dish cleaner. When I averaged everything, BJ's ended up costing me $3.95 more for the total. So-o-o-o, "wholesale" means very little when it comes to BJ's, and had I fallen for the $25/year buying at BJ's it would have cost me more! Lesson: stick with you local supermarket if it's better. The fact that discount stores will sell you more in one package doesn't mean you get a better financial deal. Enough said. read more

Lots of variety! They have lots of different items but not a lot of flavors per type of food. I understand that is not possible to stock every flavor of every food especially when selling in bulk but it seems like they have all of the stranger less tasty flavors. Items are reasonably priced for what you get. Some things are just way too big and pricy while others are almost normal size and a tiny bit cheaper. I went with my mom who already has a membership but I definitely wouldn't buy a membership to shop here because I feel like Costco is a better place to shop. read more

I have been too many BJ's in the area and find this one to be much more efficient than others. Every time I come here, even late in the evening, there is always adequate staff, especially in the checkout lines. Compared to some in Delaware, where there only seems to be two normal checkout lines open, the lines here move fast. They always seem to have everything in stock as well. The only downside is this location does not have a gas station. This location is always clean as well. The isles are usually clear of any palates and excess stock, which makes shopping much easier. read more

I have noticed that food quality at Springfield BJ's has decreased. The most resent experience demonstrated that it's time to consider another wholesale club. I recently purchased a pack of fresh Norwegian salmon for grilling. The "best purchase by date" listed on the package was next day. I am glad I opened that package right after I got home. It was hard not to vomit, the fish was rotten. It smelled so bad, I couldn't breathe. Salmon stays fresh for couple days only. This salmon must've been already bad when they were packing it. I had to make a trip back to the store to return the fish. Do you think I got at least some apologies? Nope. I was offered a replacement which I didn't accept. The rest of salmon could be as bad. I asked for a refund. So, the shopping at BJ's resulted in wasted time. I had to go to WFM to get salmon for grilling. Btw, salmon price at WFM was the same as at BJ's, both salmons are farm raised, which triggers the question: is shopping at BJ's really cost effective? read more

This store, compared to the Conshocken store is the pits. They never have enough registers open and the cashiers have no idea how to print checks automatically. You always have to wait in a long line. The store is dull and dirty. The parking lot is full of pot holes and you have to dodge puddle after puddle getting in and out. I wonder why they don't update the store and train all their employees uniformly across the board so everything is done the same at every store. I shop here regularly. I have always found most of the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The parking lot is fine, especially since they had it repaved a couple of years ago. Their clothing selection and prices are unbelievable -- Costco cannot hold a candle to them in the clothing department. It is always well stocked. Could it be better? Sure. Could it be "higher end"? Sure. But it's clean, the deli has a great selection (who wouldn't want to save $6 a pound on Cooper Cheese or D&W London Broil?). Sometimes you have to wait, so take your number and go shop. Sometimes, you don't have to wait. Their roasted chickens are delicious and $4.99! Overall I am happy with this BJs location. read more
