So over the past 3 months I have placed almost 20 orders with BJ's and 95% of the time there is a problem. The first major problem is the fact that BJ's his partnered with DoorDash and Instacart and anybody else that will deliver food but they don't deliver food at the right time they do not follow instructions they substitute orders even when substitutions are not selected. The management at BJ's in Toms River is atrocious with the exception of one man named Jacob who his assistant may numerous times and help me The rest of the store really needs to have corporate do some reprimanding on how they interact with their customers. The girl that works at night is probably the worst person for customer service and should probably lose her job immediately. She picks up the phone she doesn't talk to you she puts you right on hold she'll disconnect the call I had to call back numerous times every single time I've had an issue to be able to talk to a manager. This girl who refuses to give me her name will not tell me her name she will not put me on the phone with the manager and she will leave me on hold indefinitely. I have had to use three different phones to contact and when I call she will immediately put me on hold. I had an order that was 4 hours late that I needed to cancel because Instacart sent me a message telling me that they were going to be delivering the order late but nobody was going to be home. The lady on the phone at BJ's did absolutely nothing to help me or assist me In fact told me that everybody was busy and could not talk to me. Tomorrow I plan on calling corporate every conversation I have had with BJ's when I've called I have recorded and I will be sharing that information with the corporate office. As I have reviewed out of the 20 orders that were placed 16 of those orders had a problem Three of those orders were never delivered and all of those orders were delivered late. I will also be asking BJ's to refund me for the unlimited deliveries for the year since they are incapable of actually delivering the food when they are supposed to. read more

Went there with my friend for cold cuts. The guy in the deli named Mike looks disgusting and dirty as it is with no covering over his scruffy beard. But he continuously touches his face and he continuously holds food products up against his filthy apron. I'm not eating any of these cold cuts that my friend bought that's for sure! He needs to go back and get a refresher on his food handling license. He didn't learn anything the first time around. Quite disgusting. read more

I have given BJ's membership another 2nd chance after years of being a first time member. I ended my first membership because I bought tires with lifetime balance and rotation - or so I thought until I got a nail in one of the tires and was told that voids the lifetime perks that I paid for. I got disgusted and quit my membership. So now again a second chance member 8 years later- I receive emails with the Black Friday sales, etc... I saw an item (which also stated free shipping) that I wanted and went online to order the minute after midnight when the sale started . The store inventory was 0 already so I kept trying the whole next day as I figured maybe the store had to be opened to "realtime" the store inventory. It was like the store NEVER had any to sell so I had to go to the .com which charged $100 more. This email ad did not reflect that prices were higher if ordered through website so where's the "free" shipping. Couldn't order for pick up in store either without getting the extra $100 charge. SEE MY PHOTO FOR THIS AD. I did notify BJ's corporate about their misleading ad and included the photo of the ad but they refused to acknowledge and claimed that I misunderstood!! I will not be renewing my membership as I will not "pay" to be a member for a corporation that doesn't do anything for their members. I will stick to Costco as I never had a problem there! read more

I stopped for gas in the new gas station in the Toms River, NJ location. Their set up is RIDICULOUS!!! I can't imagine who could design or approve the traffic pattern for cars waiting for gas. Cars cutting each other off, using only one pump at a time. If you get in line, and your gas tank is on the wrong side, they make you wait to get in the proper line. I was told the hose on the pump isn't long enough to reach my tank on the other side. I have a sports car, and I NEVER had that problem in the past. As a result, half the tanks were pumping on only one side. I recommend going to Costco for gas. MUCH more organized and quicker to get in and out. read more

Being in a "senior" neighborhood, they should provide a 1-year membership special which does not provide for an automatic renewal at the full membership fee. Seniors should not have to commit to a renewal membership of about $50.00 for the "privilege" of shopping there. Or, if not reading THE SMALL PRINT when applying for their initial membership, they are unaware that BJ's will DESTROY their credit when opting not to renew by challenging their credit card charge and refusing to pay. This location is the only one in the neighborhood where you have to go East on 37 - make a U-turn - to go West on 37 - to buy a head of lettuce or any other produce, fresh meat or chicken from Aldi's. read more

The first thing that is evident in this BJ's is busy, busy, busy and the lighting is so much brighter than in my other BJ'S review in Ocean Twp NJ. The staff is very friendly here. The layout in this chain is mostly the same in all branches, so it was easy to find what I was looking for. And self-checkout helped me expedite my allotted time. read more

I canNOT say enough about the excellent customer service by the Toms River tire shop Manager, 'Pat'! I had 4 new tires installed @ the Manahawkin site during the Fall of 2020. I had a flat tire this week (Sept. of 2023). The tire could not be salvaged. I went to the TR site & Pat advised that the wrong tires had been put on my car back in 2020! Both the size AND load rating were incorrect. I went to Manahawkin where they disagreed & could only offer to order the same tire to replace the flat, OR install a similar size tire (different brand & tread). I opted neither & went back to the TR site. A polite young man told me he could not order a replacement tire because it was the incorrect tire, & asked if I could return the next day to speak with Pat again. When I returned & spoke with Pat, he immediately called a supervisor in Manahawkin to explain the scenario of this liability matter. That gentleman called Pat back after conferring with his 'report to' person. The bottom line was that because of Pat's strong advocacy, I am now the recipient of four NEW tires which are the correct size/load for my car. Not only that, but I didn't need to drive back to Manahawkin on the 'donut' spare in the nonstop rain. Pat was able to have the tires put on 'on the spot' in the TR site. He handled all of the paperwork for the insurance claim aspect of the situation as I will be reimbursed for the cost of the new set of tires. In this day & age, it was SO refreshing to actually have such great customer service from an obviously experienced & very pleasant manager. Thank you Pat! You're my 'hero of the day'! read more

BJs store is fine, however the local BJs put a gas station , the location is not good in location to the store itself . It causes traffic issues getting in to the store. The other problem is the traffic management of the station, they have 6 pumps with two sides to each pump and two entrances to the station. Sometimes they close one entrance which cause bigger headaches. It is difficult to negotiate getting in to the station due to the traffic. The other issue is that almost every time I go to get gas the pumps where the cars fill from the driver side of their vehicles are all full (6) and maybe one of the pumps where cars fill from the passenger side are being used. I happen to have a passenger side car. so I have to sit and wait while 85% of the other cars keep all the traffic backed up. As we all know we go to shortest check out line , at this station there is no way to get to the shortest line read more

This company is run by managers unsuited for the job, corporate who could care less about customers, and overworked staff who get treated unethically. I watched a manager mock one of the other staff members who has some sort of disability. How despicable to see a manager who's supposed to have their staffs back make fun of someone who has a disability. That is not only horrible but ableist and it's disturbing to see people who still think this behavior is acceptable. I was appalled to see this. Not to mention, BJs policies are absolutely horrific and when customers try to speak up, nothing gets done to make the moment right. I come here all the time and it's normally 3-4 stars but tonight I am being nice and giving 2 stars. I was there around 8:45pm and I went to the deli it was not busy. There were 3 workers and 1 of which was cleaning. Not a problem. However there were 2 people getting served and I was next in line. Then one person finished now my turn. I waited the girl with the crooked hat put the deli meat away and then I thought I was next. Now another person stands on line just 2 people and 1 person is being waited on. The girl then starts to clean up. I waited about 5 mins before my wife came over then I got angry. I complained out loud and walked away But funny thing is the girl behind the counter took my wife. I am sure if I did not complain out loud to no one she would still be there waiting. Then lastly time to check out. Let me state it was dead at the time I went but no one on the register. The only wAy to check out is using the self serve. Trust me I understand everyone wants to clean up and get out on time but you guys need to still think of the customer. I apologize if I inconvenienced this store tonight. Maybe I should go to Costco in Brick next time. read more

Person checking us out convinced us to upgrade our account to get an annual savings and claimed it would start with our purchase the day of. When the amount did not show up on the receipt, I was told to go to customer service! Customer service rep told me that they would have to return everything in my cart then repurchase all of it and they didn't have the time!! Great customer service. The person that checks your receipt on the way out asked how everything was and I told them. They said that I should call the General Manager, Peter Giordano, and that's a f'in joke as well!!! My father in law had a mass mailing offer for a reduced membership. He gave it to me to attempt to use to open a membership for myself. When I went to the guest services I was told I wouldn't be able to use the offer because it wasn't addressed to me. Come on they send these out at random is it really that big a deal. Got kind of confusing after that. The woman at guest services then suggested I open a membership with my mother in law who I was with at the time (she has the same address as the offer). My mother in law already had a bjs membership so not sure what happened but they told me I was pre approved for the credit card. I said I'd like to apply to use it that day but she informed me that because we were creating the membership under my mother in law SHE would have to do the application and I would be added to the card. At that point I said forget the whole thing and I'll just come back another day when I have my own offer. Long story short the woman made an exception and honored the offer in my name. Reason for the two stars is when she did the credit application she used the offer that came up for my mother in law, but input my information, so I got denied for the card for wrong info, and now my mother in law has a hard hit on her credit report for no reason. A confusing mistake BJs won't be able to remedy, thought I'd share it as it has not given me a good impression of BJs from day one of membership.. read more

Well stocked with competitive prices merchandise and bulk items. There is never enough cashiers working the registers, which is frustrating especially when you have only a few items. Despite the availability of self check-out, you're still waiting too long to get out of the store. The lot size is ample to accommodate large quantity of shoppers, but the lot spaces are very tight especially for people attempting to park vans and SUVs. Also, I wish there were more shopping cart returns available so ppl aren't just leaving carts anywhere and everywhere to blow across the parking lot in the wind. read more

used to belong to costco when i had family and lived closer to 1...now closest big box store is bj's in toms river....i'm not always a member, as i'm just 1 person, but at this moment i am a member....i buy from their deli once in a while as "how much can i eat"?...in december i got pastrami...then i ordered swiss cheese...old guy took his greasy plastic pastrami gloves off and grabbed the swiss cheese with his woolen gloves...i watched...he took plastic off of swiss cheese and then placed it on slicer (with woolen gloves only)...i was grossed out....i said something loudly....yada, yada, yada i complained to ocn county board of health...they sent someone there...lo and behold, he didn't see anyone touching food with woolen gloves (maybe i dreamed it?)...moving on, last wednesday i decided to go back to their deli after a month staying away....my number wasn't called yet but i watched like a hawk...sure enough, a deli woman did same gross act so i walked away and i no longer will buy anything from the deli (maybe not rotis chickens either)...yes, i complained again to board of health and, yes, they sent new person down....she reported to me that she watched them first and saw nothing wrong...then she did her annual inspection (being that she was there anyway)....no problems....i know what i saw....twice....maybe your deli person will be wearing the proper gloves at all times....maybe another worker will handle the meat, inappropriately...no way of knowing!!!!!!! we need to make a statement, collectively!!!!!! read more

I've always enjoyed shopping at Bjs in Toms River. However lately not so much. They don't carry some of the same foods and when I contact corporate they aren't much help. I was told they couldn't help me with that. I have tried calling them today, 4/14/17 six times and a recording is all I get that no one is available. I contacted corporate and they didn't have an answer. Looks like BJs is having some problems. Looking into Costco's now. read more

Been coming here many years. First and foremost, awesome selection. New stuff all the time. SUPER wide selection of organic food - and priced right. Cheaper than all surrounding stores including Costco and Walmart across the street (I've compared). It can get packed with people but no more than any normal store. I go at night and it is basically empty, I am in and out in 15-25 mins if in a rush. I've been to Costco is Brick and it can't even come close to pricing or selection. Also, Costco only has the normal stuff you would find in any supermarket. BJ's always has new and interesting things coming in you really can't find anywhere else. Parking lot is huge, can't see anyone complaining unless they are one of those who can't stand a short walk for more than 5 seconds into a store (and sit blocking the lane with a blinker on). My interactions with staff have always been above satisfactory, everyone is helpful and friendly if you need them. Keep up the good work and don't change a thing! read more
