I try to use Best Buy before going online for most tech purchases. I usually find their sales people helpful and knowledgeable. I appreciate their warrantee service. Do yourself a favor go somewhere else!!!!! Don't give this company your business!! I had one of the most frustrating retail experiences ever with Best Buy. We purchased an 85" TV and were told--very clearly--that the $119.99 "unboxing and setup" service would take care of getting the TV up and running. What actually happened? They showed up, took the TV out of the box, plugged it in, and left. That's it. No remote setup. No WiFi connection. No programming. Nothing. The TV is now literally stuck on one channel and completely unusable unless we figure everything out ourselves--which defeats the entire purpose of paying for "setup" in the first place. When we called to have them correct this, we were told it would be ANOTHER $99.99. That's nearly $220 just to get a functional television--something that should have been done properly the first time. Calling this "setup" is misleading at best and dishonest at worst. Removing a TV from a box and plugging it in is not a premium service--it's the bare minimum. Anyone could do that. This experience feels like a bait-and-switch, and it's incredibly disappointing from a company that's supposed to specialize in electronics. I would strongly caution anyone considering their setup services--make sure you get in writing exactly what they will and will not do, because clearly their definition of "setup" is not what any reasonable customer would expect. Sent my MacBook Pro to Apple for a new battery. They told me the keyboard was broken, which it works fine and they would not replace the battery without fixing the keyboard for over $700. Apple suggested Best Buy. I went to Best Buy and they told me my laptop was too "vintage" and they didn't even want to look at it. The Geek Squad person just kept trying to tell me he couldn't help without even looking at my laptop. When pressed on the subject he finally took a look and came back to me and said they could replace the battery for $750! He clearly was not interested in helping me. A woman at Best Buy heard this and came up to me and told me to try uBreakiFix in Brick. I went there immediately. Explained my situation. They came back with an estimate of under $300 to fix the battery. 3 days later and my computer is back in my hands with a new battery. I really thought about going back to Best Buy just to show them that my laptop was not too "vintage" and was able to be repaired for a fraction of the cost. I couldn't be happier with uBreakiFix. I will definitely be back there if I have any future computer issues. I'll never give the Geek Squad another try. read more

The Geek Squad service in this place seems to have really gone down hill. I made an appointment for an iPhone battery change. At the appointment (not hours before on the phone) they told me the part was in stock but they didn't have time to install it that day so they gave me another appointment for the next day. Next day, I arrive at the scheduled time. Next they tell me the technician just "stepped out" and had no time to install the battery because there was "another client ahead of me" and no more time following that one. Silly me, I thought that was what appointments were for. No prior call to cancel. Discussion with the store manager went nowhere. What a waste of my time and gas. Ill be using the Apple store from now on because Best Buy/Geek Squad in Brick are a bunch of unprofessional yahoos. read more

If you follow Wall Street, you'll see this company's stock is down almost 10% from its 52-week high, and 38% off from November 22, 2021. All you need do is attempt to do business with any staff member (online or in person) and you'll see why... The phone will ring endlessly on most days; However, if you do get a staff member on the phone, you'll never receive any useful information. Zero knowledge, and Less than Zero communication skills. *Likely calls are routed to an overseas call center... If you happen to venture into one of their retail outlets, it's actually FAR worse! I recently traveled to the Brick NJ location with significant purchases in mind. Online info from company web page lists items as "in stock and available." Easy enough one would think, right? Somewhat hard to lose a sale when a customer agrees "in advance" to the advertised price and items are all in stock and ready for purchase... I was able to locate all items, but needed some assistance... MANY employees on the clock, but not ONE soul was interested in working. I interrupted a young salesman who was very preoccupied with texting on company time. After I interrupted his social texting, he had ZERO knowledge of any the Sonny Equipment he was leaning up against. Accordingly, I asked for a manager's assistance, but none were ever produced. This was my third and final attempt dealing with Best Buy. Next day, I traveled to a smaller Authorized Sony distributor in Lakewood. I was immediately greeted by a young staff member who was knowledgeable, professional and VERY eager to help! Spent $3,700 on audio equipment and ordered an $8,900 85-inch Flat Screen Smart TV. Discounts offered were actually better than Best Buy and their knowledge & service was by FAR Superior! If you're an educated buyer, forget Best Buy!! Lie # 1. At 1130 a call came that was dead on other end. Tried to call back. No connection. Tried from two phones. Nothing. Called store. Waited not sure how long. Only to be told to call another number. Called that. Was assured they were in transit. Lie #2. At 1:50 some off shore girl called and said oh the tech called out sick today lie #3 and wanted to reschedule. I said i had a confirmed appointment. Was assured they were on their way. Well not they are not. Called. Held on phone for littlerally two hours for supervisor Sam. Again assured me she personally called them and promised they would be here by 9 pm lie #4. At 7 pm received another call stating man called out sick. Could not make it. Refused to take away service fee or make good on any accommodation or inconvenience. They were advised if not installed today as promised and paid for that our order would be cancelled. Not one person cared. I would never do business with this company again. Best Buy. Absolutely terrible customer service! I walked in the store with my husband just now and not one employee talked to us. We walked all around the EMPTY store and couldn't find anyone. I found 3 people at the customer service desk, 2 in blue shirts, 1 in black, and they were having a personal conversation. The woman with long straight hair looked at me, didn't even ask what I needed, and continued talking to her coworkers. So I stood on line, until another customer walked up to them, even though he saw I was waiting on line, and asked a question from the curly haired man in the black shirt. We finally found an employee in a corner on his cell phone who helped us, and after we made our purchase and we were walking out the door, the curly haired man with the black shirt didn't even say goodbye to us. If you purchase an extended warranty, don't expect them to honor their appointments! My Dishwasher was scheduled for repair (took 2 weeks to get an appointment). I received several reminders of the appointment and then checked on line at 12:35am on the day of the appointment to be sure all was well. I was assured that all was well. Appointment between 7am and 1 pm confirmed via online chat. When it got to be 8am and there was no indication of a closer timeframe, I called and was told my appointment had been cancelled. It seems that the technician cancelled the appointment because he could not contact on the day BEFORE the appointment. I received no emails or phone calls from the technician. Here's a Perfect example of why Corporations are failing. I went in to have my phone repaired, told they don't have the parts. I was told a price and told to come back in if I change my mind on the repair and left. Came back two days later to drop it off for repair. They now can't help me unless I have an appointment, next appointment 6 hours from that time. Now if they were busy I would understand but there's 5 people helping 1 customer and they can't help me. Why? Just Incase the next appointment comes or the one after that so they are ready. All they needed to do was run the software (takes 3 mins each step) and click ok as it finishes about 5 times then send the phone to Apple. These Geeksquaters can't multitask, have zero ambition to do anything besides what the store min is and I hope these chains disappear. I had pre-ordered a game (in full) over a month before the game came out. That game came out today and I decided to come grab it after work. I get in and I say I'm picking up NHL 20 for PS4 and they say they are sold out. And I say even if I pre-ordered it? After the first girl looks for it, another girl comes up to me and says I'm sorry but we didn't receive any of the PS4 versions today. I immediately knew she was lying to me because my best friend works there and they for sure received copies for PS4. So not only was I lied to by their incompetent employees, my copy that I had paid for was sold to another person. Stopped working altogether during pandemic. Called to get it fixed after getting my vaccine so i could have someone in my home. Geek Squad is the WORST (George and Amanda, from escalation) told me that they would not uphold warranty because they were going into people's homes during a time when no one was allowed out except for essential workers!!! My partner and I are basically computer illiterate. We purchased a new Samsung notebook last week and within a few days, the screen was frozen. After trying to fix it ourselves, we had no luck. I brought the Notebook to the Geek Squad- inside of Best Buy at 51 Cambers Bridge Rd in Brick. I did no make an appointment and took a chance to get in the repair line. A super kind & very computer knowledgeable Geek Squad employee named Deanna offered to look at my computer. Despite a warning that had taken over our computer screen that said our PC needed repair, we learned that was a scam! Grrr! Luckily, our computer did not have malware or a virus- but a pop up was blocking our screen. Deanna fixed the problem in a few minutes & sent us on our way! She did not even charge us as the repair was minimal. I will never hesitate to return to this business. Geek Store, and their employee Deanna, are computer repair rock stars! Although this location is about a 20 min drive from my house, I came in to purchase a new tv! Got immediate assistance from an LG specialist, and left the same day with a brand new 65"! Even purchased a Fuji-film Polaroid camera too. Our sales associate was helpful, and didn't attempt to up-sell us on any electronics we weren't looking for, which I appreciated. Less than a month ago, was sold a defective laptop, returned it. Tried to pick the best one for me to buy yesterday, (needed 24 hrs to decide) went to pick it up today, they sold it to someone else. Turns out the employee didn't mark it properly, asked manager yo correct this by bringing in another unit to the store. Was told "that would cost us money and through too many channels, but you can drive over to (other stores) and pick ut up yourself. IF it's in stock." Great customer service guys. I spend just short 3 hrs to ask all the right questions so as not to buy another lemon from you, and you "didn't think I was serious" about buying it. I wish I could give this 0 stars. I am writing to inform of the grievance and inconvenience I experienced during my purchase at Best Buy (#475). My past experiences at this Best Buy have always been pleasant. However on January 20, 2019, I was assisted by a female employee to sign up for a Best Buy credit card and order a Canon EOS M50 Bundle with the 15-45mm and 55-200mm. Unfortunately, I cannot recall her name but she is shorter than 5 feet, shoulder length dirty blonde hair, and wears colored glasses. Please see below for the situation and difficulties: * Due to the bundle not being available in store, the employee stated there are two options, 1) pick-up in store and 2) delivery within the week. Due to living in Lacey, I explicitly stated I would like delivery. The employee similarly agreed with me as the delivery would be almost as the item arriving in store for me to pick up. She input my information, address, phone number, etc. I was under the impression that she was getting my information to have it delivered. I also signed up for the Best Buy credit card to do monthly payments. In the duration of 1 day, I contacted Best Buy customer service phone number, online, and in-store. 1. My Best Buy Account: I logged onto my account since the receipt did not give any indication of confirmation # or tracking #. That is when I found out the purchase was made to pick-up, not delivery. Attached is a screenshot that says pick-up in store. 2. Best Buy Customer Service via 1-888-237-8289: I proceeded to call with the order number to confirm that my account was addressed incorrectly. However, they were unable to find my confirmation # for my order. There was no confirmation # on the receipt. 3. Best Buy Customer Service via online chat: After calling and searching for a confirmation to no avail, I contacted the online customer service. In hopes the representative I spoke to earlier was mistaken, I wanted to check all possibilities. Again, the same problem occurred in that the representative had difficulty locating the order #. After the conversation, he advised me to speak the original Best Buy. Please see attached for the conversation. 4. Best Buy Brick via 732-477-4443: In the morning, I spoke to Robin. She attempted to help the situation and offered to search my account. She advised me to look for any confirmation # that had BB or 1's in front of it. The receipt had none of these except a valid #. In the afternoon, I called the store again to see when a manager is available to speak to. This time, I spoke to Tiffany. After being unavailable to find my order #, she was the only representative who found a record of my receipt. She informed that the way the employee who did the transaction did it as if I bought the item on side. However, I did not walk out with any item since the bundle was not in stock. Tiffany also stated the manager is able to review the videotape as I was leaving Best Buy on January 20, 2019 between 4-5 P.M. and check the inventory. Ultimately, I informed her I will definitely be stopping by the Best Buy to amend this problem. Please see attached for the receipt, and phone record. I understand this is a minor issue. However, this situation could have been avoided in the first place. I would have been willing to wait for another employee if she informed me, she is incapable of making an order for delivery and signing me up for a Best Buy card. In the past, I also worked in retail, and empathize it may be overwhelming at times due to the volume of customers. In the store yesterday, there was not an overwhelming amount of customers, no line after me, and I was the only customer she was currently helping. I would appreciate if this situation was brought to the attention of the employee, and the appropriate measures are taken. I understand this is a lengthy however, in one day, I have spent a frustrating amount of time and spoken to Best Buy customer service to see if there is anything that can be done, and find out what the next step is to move forward in this process. Fortunately, I have not had enough time yet to call the Best Buy credit card service otherwise, I can only imagine there will be more difficulties. As I would very much like to solve this problem, I will go to the store and have all of this amended. Also for privacy reasons, I did not attach my Best Buy Account history, receipt, my phone log spent calling, and the online chat I had with the customer service, to this review.
