This was my first time dining at Bkk and I'm happy to say that this was a wonderful overall experience! I was greeted with a smile and warm hospitality. My server was very attentive and made sure I was enjoying my meal and asked if I needed anything else. The restroom was very clean , the bar is really nice and the restaurant has a beautiful and relaxing upscale ambiance. I had the most delicious BKK fried rice with chicken. The meal was plated beautifully and it was a very generous portion. This was unfortunately the worst restaurant experience I've had. We came after the lunch rush when the restaurant was nearly empty, yet it took almost an hour from the time we walked in to receive our food. A new bartender initially told us the wait would be about an hour, but the manager assured us it would only be a few minutes. In the end, the bartender's estimate was the accurate one. I wish the manager had been upfront about being short-staffed instead of repeatedly telling us our food would be out "in a few minutes." The food wasn't worth the wait. We asked for small plates to share among six people but received only three plates and two trays. We also ordered tom yum soup and curry, but no spoons were provided. The curry was served with the bowl sitting on the same plate as the rice, making the presentation messy and unappetizing. We were automatically charged a 20% gratuity because of our party size. As much as I wanted to, I didn't dispute it because I know the staff were working hard. My frustration is with the poor communication and overall management of the situation, not the employees themselves. read more

BKK has been my go to lunch place for 2 years. I had to drop a review because I've seen it's recently not very crowded. The word has to get out what a great spot BKK is! The four curry offerings are so delicious. The peanut dressing for the salad is a must try and the drinks from the bar are inspired and delightful. We came here for dinner the day after thanksgiving. We decided that we were going to order a bunch of apps to go with our drinks because we had been eating so much throughout the day. The firecracker shrimp and the chicken satay were definitely the highlights of the evening. I also got to try some of the fried rice that one of the diners got and it was probably one of the best Thai rice that I have had outside of Asia. I really enjoyed the ordering experience. We were a large party (I think maybe 8 people) and the server looked a little overwhelmed but once she got the order going, she was friendly, knowledgable, and whenever she was unsure about something she would verify and confirm with us. my wife, my son who is home on leave from the Marines in Okinawa visited your establishment last night in Lamar Park. Our check was #40, table 34we finally placed our order at 1845. We ordered the Firecracker Shrimp which was good but no heat. Our server delivered the shrimp and we had no utensils or napkins. When she made an appearance we asked for those after we had finished 2 of the 4 shrimp. When we got our entree's Pad Thai, Pad Kee Mow and Cashew Nut. The vegetables were barely cooked basically raw. When I asked for the bill she brought it fairly promptly but she disappeared and after about 10 minutes I got up and went looking for her, she was behind the bar doing something. I love BKK. Amazing food. I've tried several of their curries, noodles, and the French fries and curry appetizer. I've enjoyed everything I've tried. I went here with my girlfriend today, we got our drinks and the service was normal, and the waitress was very nice. As soon as we ordered our food, she suddenly disappeared for almost 30 minutes. After she came out and could visibly see we were upset, she assured us the food would be out shortly. It took an additional 15 minutes to come out. After over 45 minutes, she gets her food before me, I have to wait 10 minutes more to get mine. Her tofu was so dry, it almost broke her tooth trying to chew through it, it was clearly dry and old. The pad Thai noodles were tough and lacking in flavor. I had to ask for the pad Thai to be comped, it was seriously impossible to eat, after 20 minutes and laughter from inside the kitchen, the waitress tells me they were able to comp the pad Thai. After that, for no reason, we got dirty looks from the other waitress, side-eyeing my girlfriend and it all. This is a totally unacceptable experience, the waitresses clearly don't take their jobs seriously, neither do the cooks. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone else, please do not make the same mistake as me and waste your time and money here. read more

We came here for a small dinner and shared a couple appetizers and an entree. Corn fritters: tasty and highly recommend! Loved the sauce. Spring rolls: good but not my favorite. The wrapping was fairly loose so it fell apart too easily. Singapore noodles: never had them like this before, but turned out to really like them! They are flavored with pineapple.. so if you like pineapple fried rice you'll probably like this too. Ambiance inside is nice, modern, clean. Service was quick and kind. Husband, daughter and I had lunch today. We had 3 different dishes - and each were equally uninspiring. My family loves Thai - We love to try new Thai restaurants. Sadly for us, this one doesn't make the cut. We each ordered what would be considered "vegetarian" or "vegan," since we are all one or the other. My dish tasted of fish. My husband's tasted of beef. My daughter's seemed okay, but her curry dish was greasy and one dimensional. I don't understand restaurants that place the icons or letters next to dishes to infer vegan or vegetarian- then, not clean their grill to insure no crossover contaminants of food items. When I walked in, I first noticed how grey and kind of dull it was, not very inviting but no big deal - I thought it might've just been a little fancy since there's a bar here too. Appetizers I ordered were the summer rolls & cheese rolls , summer rolls aren't the best & peanut sauce isn't my favorite but they fix that craving. The cheese rolls were really good, but of course, they are cheese rolls so they always will be. I ordered green curry salmon and requested it very spicy. I don't think it was very spicy but they do have a chili oil to offer. The flavor was okay after adding that! I just didn't finish because it was underwhelming in my opinion. Also, this is a little weird, I asked for brown rice and when I tried it, it was both under- and overcooked. When I looked at it, I thought it resembled mashed potatoes a little bit. But when I tried it (just to see!) it was also crunchy like Al dente rice. My companion had the cashew chicken with glass noodles. Parts of the noodles were overcooked and the vegetables were poorly prepared. He did like the chicken though! The service from our waitress was impeccable. Our first red flag should have been that there was ZERO people in the establishment at 12:38 on a Saturday! ‍ But we proceeded to try it. Bad mistake! I had the basil stir fry with organic chicken and my husband got a seafood dish - both plates had hardly any protein and about 5 pounds of vegetables. Great if you're vegan, horrible if you're not. Everything was very bland - not much flavor at all. I get everything is expensive but we definitely paid for those plates and what we got was so not worth it. This place had a modern vibe, different from normal Thai restaurants. The plating was beautiful and craft cocktails had creative twists on regular drinks. Not sure how the hostess decides on seating, but we were seated on the bar side right next to a group when there were other tables clearly open on both sides on a early Tuesday night. We ordered the money bags as our appetizer which was good. I had ordered the BKK Thai Tea, then promptly told they were out of Thai tea, disappointing for a Thai restaurant. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai which should have a sweet & savory component and it just had sweet notes and no spice, I wasn't even asked about spice level. I ordered things I know are good but everything is wrong. Thai French toast. No fruit! It was made with Texas Toast bread but like twice as thick and not even cut in half. Very little sauce. Breakfast Fried Rice: I order this because I do not like the texture of bacon and they make theirs with spam. Took a bit and got gross half cooked stringy bacon no Spam at all. Management who is running that place now?!? Who truly forgot to order?!? WYAF! Thai Tea. Looked like it had zero cream? Requested utensils, should have had two sets. But actually had zero! No fruit, no normal bread,no cream, no utensils, no spam? Close the store front if you can't make what's on the menu. Don't worry I'm not looking for a refund, since last time you swore you sent one for my burnt French toast and blamed grub hub that I never got it. I have been here a number of times for lunch, being invited by others and even today, it took 40+ minutes to get our food and there were only 3 other tables with people in the restaurant. If you only have an hour for lunch do not attempt this restaurant. Everytime I have had to take my food to go because it took so long. Food is good. Service is so-so. The person came back to the table 3 times to ask what dressing we wanted on the salad. The Pad Kee Mow was BOMB...probably my favorite dish. Flavored so well and the vegetables were perfectly cooked. Great food! The chips and curry starter is a must!! The curry is so tasty - not to spicy. And the fries are steaming and seasoned. For mains we got the panang curry with veggie and tofu (not pictured) at the medium spicy level. Very tasty, but we needed more spice so we used the chili oil and sriracha that comes on the side. We also got pad khee mao (drunken noodle) which came out with thin pad Thai type noodles. It threw us off a bit, because they didn't mention that when we ordered it. After we received the dish, we asked about it and they said they ran out of the thick noodles. Still tasted great, but if you want drunken noodles, make sure you ask if they have the noodle in the kitchen. Also got a Thai tea which always hits the spot. read more

The brunch is really good (tour of Thailand is my jam) although the last two weekends I've gone, they ran out of coffee :( Last night I went to dinner and wanted to try something new (I usually get the sushi) so I got the yellow pineapple curry with chicken. The curry was amazing! It was sweet and a little spicy and the pineapple chunks added a nice touch! But the chicken.....was terrible. It tasted like it was a week old and was not edible. I had to pick all of it out of the curry. Service was good though, but I hope they can get the chicken right next time. Update: Ordered the yellow pineapple curry (Vegetarian this time because of the bad chicken the night before) for takeout through Grubhub on 06/04. Food was sloppily packaged and leaking in the bag. Started of the meal with the curry potatoes. Not in my life would o ever think to dip fries in curry, but my life has been changed today. Then got a few drinks from the cocktail menu and those were amazing. No regrets at all, they do have a great selection from fruity to strong, something for everyone. My girlfriend had the salmon curry and loved every bit of it. I ordered the drunken noodles cause I was feeling a bit healthy that day. Definitely probably some of the best noodles I've had in town. We also shared a sushi roll, unsure of which one but If they were as good as that one, you'll choose a good one with no doubts.
