As new residents in town everything was so excellent from the coffee to the complementary blueberry muffins to the service, everything was wonderful!! The ambience was great with an old school great grandmas house vibe and Choo Choo train showing ads and running throughout the ceiling of the restaurant!! So cool!! We came on July 3rd at roughly 11am and it was BUSY but we were sat as a table of 2 within 10 minutes. I ordered the sirloin and eggs and my wife ordered the Andy's platter or something like that. We devoured our meals, they were so yummm and the waitresses were so kind and attentive! I can't wait to take my mother in law here when she's in town next week. The A/C was perfect upon walking in, about a 15 minute wait, but it was worth it. Our waitress had goldfish-in-a-bag earrings and was patient while we trudged through the menu. Huevos Rancheros with loaded hash-browns with a big stack of pancakes. Way more food than we could eat, but it sure was good eatin'! The complimentary blueberry muffins were the icing on the cake. This location is a standalone restaurant in a large plaza with plenty of parking. There isn't any gluten free or vegan options. We were greeted and seated right away. You can tell there are lots of regulars by the way they walked in and grabbed silverware and were greeted by the servers. They bring fresh blueberry muffins to each table. There is a big menu. There isnt a lot of windows but there is a lot of decor to look around at. The food comes out quick. The portion size is appropriate and not alot of leftovers. What a great place for breakfast. It was busy but the service was great. First drink order- coffee - came fast. Next the hot blueberry muffins. Then the menu, what to order. It all looked so good. My husband and I decided on the Mexican breakfast with 2 cheese con carne enchiladas, 2 over easy eggs, refried beans, flour tortillas and hash brown. The salsa had to be homemade, it was so good. Went with my granddaughters and, oh my goodness! It was phenomenal! We got the big stack and the French toast with hash browns. My granddaughter quote "absolutely inhaled the pancakes they were delicious " and they were huge! And my other granddaughter inhaled her French toast quote " they were so crispy, not too hot not too cold but just right" The service was amazing! The waitress was very nice. I know this is a staple in Corpus, but the last few times we've been here, it's only gone downhill which it's a little sad because this used to be our go to place for breakfast on the weekends. The muffins are a nice little treat while we wait for our food. We normally go here for the Chicken Fried Steak, and the most recent time we came, I couldn't even finish it. When our food got to our table, the first time I noticed was the amount of grease on our steak. I had to use a couple napkins to dab off the grease. I also noticed how sloppy it is when it came to plating, I'm not saying it needs to be some kind of Michelin star plating, but the hashbrowns seems like it just gets thrown onto the plate, and half the time there are hardly any crispy edges to them. Today I was proven wrong. First the sandwich looked like a 2 year old put it together. I pieced the toast and discovered that the sandwich was built on one side of the bread and cut on the other side. Un even pieces. They used about a pound of wilted yellowed lettuce and only 1 thick slice of tomato. I disassembled the sandwich and and tried to get a photo as proof but the waitress took it away too soon. Turn the menu to the back and you can read about their history which was fun! I have heard so much about the free blueberry muffins and they don't taste like blueberry! It's a vanilla muffin with flecks of blueberry. What we ordered: Corned Beef Hash - The corned beef came out as patties which was strange. They tasted okay but were kinda dry. Hash browns and eggs were good. Greasy but good. Came with two biscuits which had a strange texture. Side of Sausage Gravy - Just your average sausage gravy. Nothing out of the ordinary. Eggs Benedict - Good portion size and eggs were perfectly poached. The hollandaise was slightly sweet but otherwise good. Service was nice and she did a good job despite the rush. The eggs were not poached properly- the yolk was very hard. The french toast was nothing special. I could make a better tasting french toast at home. The beef nachos also did not taste good and only served my significant other like 10 chips?!
