A great atmosphere and the baristas are fantastic. I highly recommend the raspberry almond muffins!

The service is always spot on, even when they get busy during the weekend brunch rush. (You should count on needing a reservation at those times.) Of course, none of that would matter if the food wasn't also excellent! We always order banana caramel pecan french toast for the group to share. The french toast on its own is custardy and delicious (unlike some places that just feel like dry bread), but the roasted bananas along with the buttery caramel and pecans take it to the next level. The fries are also the platonic ideal of a french fry that always surprise us: crispy, not greasy, and well seasoned, while still having a fluffy center. I often get the shakshuka or the aleppo-style eggs for my main, which are both delicious, veggie-forward, and filling. But the hidden gem is the oatmeal, which is packed with fruit, perfectly cooked, and creamy as can be. Since the food is halal, there are no pork products, and as a lover of regular bacon, I can say with confidence the beef bacon will surprise you with how similar it is! My vegetarian friends also love the variety of the options, and the meat eaters are always satisfied.

The service is quick and super friendly. My friend and I had finished our meals, and the staff were letting us try different baklava flavors they had, simply out of the kindness of their heart. They would just walk up to us while we were chatting and they'd give us more samples. It was really a great time! My Nutella Crêpe was cold but it would've been amazing if the melted Nutella was still warm inside, but all in all it was still good. My friend got a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and funny enough hers was too hot at first haha so she let it sit for a sec and really liked it. Water is also self service here-- another community vibe to it all. I def want to come back for their lunch menu!

Their pastries are good, but my coffee left a bit to be desired. I got the Maple Latte, and I tasted almost zero maple in it. They also don't have any other flavor options, which I would've liked. This is a good spot for hanging out or catching up with friends. This is not a coffee shop for working as they don't allow laptops. Overall, this is a great spot, I think they just need to work on their coffee a little bit!

In theory I appreciate the idea of a laptop free area, and it is always annoying when there is a cafe full of people hogging up all the tables to do their homework, but in practice is this really an issue? I mean they already make the space not conducive sitting comfortably, using low tables and everyone sits against the wall. My interpretation is that they do not want the "negative computer energy" in their sacred space. Would it have helped if they knew I was working on a tai chi research project? Would that positivity have offset the negative energy I was emitting? I guess I will not know. I certainly will not be coming back, ever. I did not even enjoy the nearly $8 coffee (with tip) -- it had a flavored aftertaste.

I was thoroughly disappointed when I learned this, because it's the cutest shop with the best vibes. I'll try sometime when I don't have to lock in, I guess.

We walked into a cozy, bohemian atmosphere filled with eclectic décor, photos, artwork, books, puzzles, chess boards, and an overall sense that people are encouraged to slow down and stay present. Despite the relatively small footprint, the space manages to feel welcoming rather than cramped, with indoor seating that supports conversation and outdoor seating that becomes especially popular during warmer months. Coffee is clearly the centerpiece here. We ordered espresso based drinks, including a flat white and a seasonal Juniper Latte, both of which were prepared with care and a clear emphasis on quality. The café leans into a more thoughtful coffee program, and that attention shows in the cup. Beyond the drinks, the pastry selection is good, particularly the croissants and scones, which paired naturally with the coffee menu. The experience is helped by friendly, engaged staff who contribute to the café's welcoming personality. Conversations with the baristas and small community touches helped create an environment that felt more personal than transactional. The laptop free policy can catch first time visitors by surprise, but for many regulars it is part of what gives Faro its distinctive identity and helps preserve the social atmosphere that sets it apart from more work focused cafés. For a coffee stop in Harvard Square that prioritizes human connection over productivity, Faro Cafe delivers a warm, intentional space worth slowing down for.
