For rural Wyoming, quite a nice little restaurant with good atmosphere. Went for lunch and looked like they had a good selection (and my lunch mates really enjoyed there meal) but the selection for vegetarians definitely is very small. The only lunch like item that was vegetarian was the cheese only quesadilla. It was ok but nothing special. read more

Decidedly underwhelming. I took 2 bites of the breakfast green chili smothered breakfast burrito and knew I would be unable to choke it down. I can't say exactly what was wrong with it, but it tasted awful. I ordered pancakes, eggs and bacon. The bacon was good. I put enough hot sauce on the eggs to make them edible. The pancakes were bland - even with a lot of syrup. My wife said her oatmeal was so-so too. They charged me for both meals but gave me a $2.50 discount to offset it a bit. There are not a lot of options in Thermopolis, but we're thinking McDonalds May be the better choice. read more

This restaurant is unbelievable for such a small town ! The huge, freshly made cinnamon rolls, pies, and bread pudding are delish! The breakfast menu is HUGE and has most everything you might want. My favorite for lunch is the pulled pork burrito with the homemade green chili sauce (not hot, just flavorful), but I truly haven't had any dish there that wasn't yummy! read more

Waited 45 minutes for cold and bland food. Even had to wait 20 minutes to order while other tables, who appear to be locals, were served and received their food well before us. Guess this place isn't a fan of tourists in a tourist town. If you're a tourist visiting Thermopolis, please go elsewhere! read more

Great breakfast. Had the Blue Mama Bear: blueberry pancake, bacon, egg. Good wifi Coffee: Folgers (yech). They will, upon request, brew a costa rica coffee, but it comes through the same machine, is brewed at about 3/4 of full strength and is only slightly better. read more

Stopped by early on a Saturday morning, pleasantly surprised. Feels like a cafe you'd find in a bigger city, big windows, modern. Waitress and cook were welcoming, warm, and prompt. Ordered coffee, a parfait, cinnamon roll, and breakfast burrito. Everything was delicious, burrito was the size of a small baby. Glad we had gone to the hot springs the night before so that we didn't lapse into a food coma in the pools. read more

Stopped by on another road trip. Breakfast of biscuits and gravey with house fries and egg. The house fries are amazing! Lots of crispy black bits and tons of flavor. The biscuits and gravey were ok, but nothing to get super excited about. We also had the French toast combo, egg and bacon. Pretty standard, a bit bland. Shakes were good, but the we're chunks of ice milk in them. The staff is still super friendly. Still a great bargin meal. Will stop by again I'm sure. read more

Fantastic breakfast. Great options and portions to keep you full of energy for a day on the Big Horn. Not recommend if you are on a diet. The option for toast or pancake is rarely found at breakfast places. Coffee is excellent and the terrific service keeps it flowing. À la carte options make breakfast completely customizable but reasonably priced. Careful if you eat here first and want to try other places. This is the best location in Thermopolis for breakfast. Wish I could comment on lunch but never got off the river until dinner. read more

I used Black Bear cafe for catering services for a family party of 130 people. Debra was on the ball, took great care of everything we planned for plus, it was excellent food! Outstanding should be the word I use, no problems, no complaints, all of our guests complimented on the great food. Asked one of the locals where was a good place to eat - he recommended Black Bear Cafe. Went there for the noon meal. I had beer battered fish and cole slow and potato salad. It was excellent. Best place for breakfast or lunch in Thermopolis. Fast friendly staff. Wi-Fi for the remote worker. Only downer is it closes at 3.

We recently vistted this sleepy little town to celebrate a birthday. On Sunday morning we went to the Black Bear Cafe for breakfast. Upon entering the restaraunt, we were told to seat ourselves which we promptyly did as there were a few empty tables and booths. It took 10-15 minutes for our server to come and greet us and take our drink order. "Greeting" is a little bit strong of a description, as he just wandered over and ask for our drinks without so much of a hello. The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable. If it had not been for our server, I would have given this place a higher rating. It is typical cafe food but it is done well. It's a shame that they've got such poor service. While we hugrily waited, we watched the staff busy themselves with cleaining tables for a crowd that didn't exist, while ignoring diners (us) who were about to get up and leave...profit never realized. We unfortuanately had to be more direct with our server in order to get very basic service, which we don't like doing. Enjoy the food but don't expect much in the way of even basic service. read more
