Words from my 8 year old - I loved the Black bear cafe because it had a really great pancake and it was a big and a good pancake. Also the scrambled eggs and bacon were really good. The only thing I really didn't like was.... nevermind I can't think of it. The server was really good, and they were super nice to the man at the next table which was really nice especially because get was an elder. My family also really liked the green chili black been soup, burger and cheese quesadilla. Fry sauce and salad with homemade blue cheese dressing were awesome too! read more

We scouted this place out on Yelp because we planned to stop in Thermopolis for lunch on the way back to Denver from Yellowstone. Yet again, Yelp doesn't lead you astray. It was Sunday so we were worried they'd be closed, and from the corner driving by it looked like they were, but the main part of the restaurant is really on the side street. See the picture above for reference. They're open 7am to 3pm everyday. Serve breakfast all day (until they close at 3) and it's delicious breakfast food. The portions are huge. I would highly recommend the biscuits & gravy and the huge cinnamon roll. The service was so friendly - small town charm! A great stop in Thermopolis. read more

Friendly staff and reasonably fast takeout. Unfortunately the food was meh. Breakfast burrito with 90% potato (billed as hash browns) and a quarter cup of scrambled egg, maybe less. It was hard to tell as the potato was the dominant feature. Turkey club first came without bacon (which was corrected) but the wilted lettuce made me lose my appetite. read more

While in Thermopolis, you'll quickly find there are not a ton of options for lunch! Fortunately, we walked in right before 3pm and grabbed lunch to go. I enjoyed the grilled chicken salad with green chili, filling but not too heavy it was just what I needed after a day of hiking and hot springing! The decor is a home, mismatched and knick knacky vibe. The menu has something for everyone, brand breakfast is served all day! The only bummer is that they close at 3, which seems to be a theme in this town! A couple with a newborn walked in right after 3 and were turned away, and they mentioned they had already tried another restaurant. If you are looking for excellent authentic western diner fare, look no farther. This has much better food than anything you will find up the road in Cody. There is even a black bear hide on the wall to complete the decor. This is also clearly where the locals eat, so come and hang out with cowboys while you eat some excellent food. Breakfast is served all day. The breakfast burrito was smothered in some of the best green chili we've sampled in diners across the West. The chicken fried steak was tender and the gravy rich and thick and full of sausage chunks (although I like mine with a bit more pepper). It came with a load of homestyle potatoes and two eggs your way Ana toast. The service was brisk and the food came out very promptly. This is definitely one of our top diners so far. Note it's not open for supper. read more

Stopped in for a meal and a table while I waited to pick up my fisherman. It's a sweet little restaurant as others have said. Not disappointed with service or food or coffee. All was very well done. Not the fluffiest omelette I've had but I did enjoy the sausage very much. No one offered cinnamon buns or blueberry pancakes as others gushed about in their reviews. We are visiting from out of state and with limited parking options in a small town, we parked in the back. There was ONE no parking sign on the door, since there was one, we assumed that we could park everywhere except near the no parking sign which is what we did. We were getting our two year old out and the "owner", Pat, came out in what looked like pajamas, messy hair, and smoking a cigarette. Talk about automatic turn off. We moved our car and came inside since we had family waiting on us. The waitress was fine, but you could tell she was sick as she was coughing often, not a great impression when you're trying to eat. Our waitress forgot multiple things, multiple times and had to be asked more than twice for a few things (normal things like syrup for the pancakes and coffee). The food was extremely average and nothing to be proud of. A friends egg was over cooked and the potatoes were nearly flavorless. The pancakes were HUGE and looked good, however. All in all, we are super unimpressed and not really "happy" with the experience. We will not be returning simply for the way the "owner" acted and the less than average food. read more

We stopped here twice on our way to and from Cody. Great little restaurant with good service and small town atmosphere. My husband had a Rueben with sweet potato fries and I had a chicken salad. Saw some good reviews about this place, so my husband and I stopped in for lunch to try it as we were passing through. The place is nice and clean, the food was excellent and came out very quickly and piping hot, prices were good and service was good and responsive. I ordered the Roundtop huevos, it was so yummy and my husband ordered chicken fried steak with a ham and bean soup and he said both were good. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

Cute local diner. Stopped on our way home from Yellowstone back to Colorado. We were all hungry for breakfast food even though it was well after 12 noon so glad to find they served breakfast all day. Kids both had pancakes which were very good. Hubby had chicken fried streak and was happy. I had a dish that was stacked potatos, eggs and green chili with tortillas. Stopped by here on the way out of Yellowstone. Best breakfast we've had on our 3 week trip. Super friendly and fast service. Delicious home cooked breakfast. LARGE portions! I got the protein power breakfast (3 eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and a pancake), husband got the biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs and homefries. We couldn't finish the meals! Highly recommend. Great food. The kids loved the (huge) chocolate chip pancakes off the kids menu that they couldn't finish. I had a smothered pork burrito with green chili. It wasn't spicy and had great flavor. I took a day trip over to Thermopolis, and I was so happy to stumble upon this adorable cafe while I was there! We came in probably 30 minutes before closing, but they still happily sat us at a table and never made us feel remotely rushed. The food wasn't anything exceptional, but it was a good solid meal. I got a Hawaiian burger. The burger was well cooked, with a great flavor. All the toppings worked well. My dad got something with bison, which was solid. Not quite as exciting as I would've expected . At the end, we ordered a mixed berry pie. So good! It came out hot with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I didn't see a ton of food options in Thermopolis, but I've got to imagine this is one of the better ones! The decor there is super cute, as well. Definitely give it a shot! read more
