I saw this winery listed in the newspaper and decided to give it a try. Nice grounds, the tasting room was full and due to a couple privately booked tastings I had to wait about 30 minutes before an outside tasting table was set up. Tastings cost a very reasonable $7 for 5 different wines selected from 8 available. The pours were generous and the explanations clear and useful. For Massachusetts wines you don't expect Napa or Sonoma quality but what was offered was good and a nice surprise in the Pioneer Valley. Prices for bottles range from $15-25. Again, fair and reasonable pricing. They also have a summer concert series on Saturday nights that would be ideal for small groups looking for some fun. read more

First stop on our daughter's #turning21 tour. This location has more of a craft brew feel, than a winery. We were planning on ordering pizza, but were told we could only sit in the tasting area until we finished our tasting then would need to move. We decided not to order, but would have had plenty of time, regrets here. The tasting was good, our server was very knowledgeable and friendly but stretched far too thin. We didn't get the "real" tasting experience, more the drop and go. The Wines however sold themselves. I generally drink full bodied reds ( which they did not have at the time) however I LOVED the 19' Chardonnay which was aged in stainless steel had a clean crisp finish with hints of fruit. In fact our whole party enjoyed this one. On the complete other side of the spectrum I loved the Ruby, similar to a port, without being overly syrupy due the much lower residual sugar. I am looking forward to this one around a fire this fall. We were able to reasonably social distance and the restrooms were immaculately clean with sanitizer everywhere. read more

Great local winery. Beautiful location, tasty wines. Went in for a tasting. It was only $9 and they let me keep my glass which was nice. I ended up buying a bottle of their Epic White. It is delicious and sweet but not saccharine. I would like to go again but bring a little picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful grounds. Highly recommend! read more

What a great find! Beautiful location all year-round. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was told they have music and food trucks in the summer (bring your own chair). You also don't have to pre-pay for their "Wine Club," which is good to know (you just commit to buying a certain # of bottles per year). read more

Loved Black Birch! Such an adorable, tiny little place! There was a wedding going on outside while we were there and they were still very attentive inside the tasting room.The tasting price was super reasonable, and the wine was DELICIOUS. We even got to taste one that wasn't labeled yet! We left with a few bottles of red that we loved. The only bad thing I'll say is that the man behind the tasting counter didn't believe my age and the way he grilled me about it came across as a little rude. I showed him my ID and he took a very long time examining it, and I was with my mom, who can obviously verify my age. He still seemed wary about pouring me wine. I get that I look young, but I'm 26. My government issued identification should be enough proof for you to pour me a TASTING. read more

The wine cork moose head that graces Black Birch's rustic tasting room had me at hello. Our pourer was friendly, and the wine was probably the best we tasted on our three vineyard day trip to Black Birch, Mineral Hills, and Amherst Farm Winery. There is plenty of space on the property to sit down with a bottle of wine and a picnic, which is always a plus. As Amelia H. noted, the only bathroom on-site is an outhouse, which is a bummer because the vineyard would be a nice place to host small events otherwise. read more

Ah this place is a gem ladies and gentlemen. The views during the summer- mmmmmm, lovely. Bring a picnic. They want you to...just laze around get some wine, tear up a bit of bread. They have a lovely little tasting room, good parking so no stress. I think you pay for your tastings even if you buy the wine so maybe that's bit of a downside. Also, no plush bathroom. It's cute. Well done and it's got some pretty cool branding (t-shirts and the like)...lovely spot to hang for an afternoon sipping wine and having a picnic. read more

The place was really nice inside and had nice views. The wine was average. We liked the Riesling but I thought the service was terrible. It took a minimum of 15 minutes in between wine tastings after our glasses were empty. The woman serving us then started to argued with us about which wine we were actually on which was insulting and embarrassing. read more

Perfect little vineyard in such a cute little town. This place is perfect for a Sunday funday in the spring and summer. The wine tasting is very affordable and informative. Plus you get to keep the class after with their name on it, come on everyone can use an extra wine glass! Great wine if you like dry wine. Other wineries have wine on the sweet side which is Not to our liking. It was packed because of the rain. Tasting was $9 but waived if you bought 4 bottles. What a great little winery!! A beautiful setting in the Pioneer Valley....you feel a sense of calm the minute you get out of your car. The tastings take place in a little outbuilding, rustic wood, twinkling lights. The quality of the wine really surprised me, much more complex and sophisticated than I was expecting in central MA. A nice young man was pouring the day I was there, and was so knowledgeable and engaged that I asked him if he was a family member (he's not). Outside they have a handful of tables ....bring a picnic lunch and stay a while. Worth planning a day trip around, IMO. read more

What a beautiful cozy vineyard! Perfectly tucked away off of the beaten path, beautiful barn with exposed beams and old hard wood floor. Spaced picnic benches so you feel like your in your own world out back. The wines were delicious especially the whites. Definitely can't wait to go back. Bucolic peaceful farm setting. Just follow the beaten path from the parking area that leads to wine! Like pretty much every winery in New England, the whites are better than the reds. Epic White and Treminette were our favorites. Black Birch has become a victim of their own success, and it's now time to invest in a new larger and more modern building to accommodate the increasing number of customers. May I suggest planting some trees to provide more shade below the vineyard, as it can be quite hot in the sun. Also, you can bring a picnic if you like. Rest rooms are limited to Porta- potties. read more

Very enjoyable experience. We were able to choose five wine samples from their offering for a tasting. Delicious. We settled on a bottle to purchase and enjoyed it with the picnic lunch we brought with us. We enjoyed our lunch at an outside table, covered by an umbrella, with the company of a fantastic Bernese Mountain Dog (who really liked our cheese). The restroom was seriously the most nicely appointed port-o-potty I've ever had a chance to visit. No joke. Actually smelled nice (how did they manage that?!)
