We visited 4 wineries, Palaia, Applewood, Demarest and Clearview. Palaia and Clearview both honored the passport by providing wine tasting. Applewood and Demarest refused the passport and would not honor the wine tasting that was paid for. I am reluctant to visit any more of the wineries being that 50% did not honor the passport. Very disappointing and ruined a perfectly good afternoon.

Geoff ended up running our tour and was so nice and patient. We are a bit, um, loud sometimes but Geoff made sure to get the best angles with every group picture and even picked up our untimely food order so we wouldn't miss the last tasting. He was also extremely knowledgeable about local wine! **THE EXPERIENCE** It was a gorgeous fall Saturday. I highly recommend taking this trip in October, as the foliage was breathtaking. Milea Vineyard, our first stop, felt like a mansion, and the tasting room was sunlit and gorgeous. Clinton Vineyards was more of a country farmhouse, and our group had a private tasting with the owner, Phyllis, who is a super interesting woman. The last, Milbrook, was a bit busy, but the property has a cute lake and food, and before the tasting, you can check out the vineyard and store. Again HIGHLY recommended! She escorted us over to a table with a marvelous view of the vineyards. Maria was our wonderful and charming server. She came over with a complementary glass of their wonderful rosé wine. I'm not a rosé drinker, but it was delicious. We enjoyed a wonderful flight of wines. Our favorite was their '23 Double Fall Line $32. It has a marvelous smooth blend of Cab Franc, Merlot and Blaufränkisch (Austrian Blue) Grapes. Two bottles came home later. : ) Of course, we had to indulge in some wonderful lobster rolls. Each lobster roll was $23, plus for an extra $9 you get a nice dollop of caviar to top it off ! The lobster was from a company called Oyster Party in the NY area. I think the lobster rolls were some of the best I ever had. Just a couple of notes: - It appears the hill leading up to the vineyard was recently paved. While most companies weren't able to accommodate such a small party, this company was happy to work with us. Mike called me in advance to talk about what kind of day we wanted to have, what we like to drink and if we had any special ideas in mind. He had a great working knowledge of: which breweries had the best views; who had what kinds of products; what sort of food was served where; who had live music or special events and so on! He seemed happy to accommodate any requests we had in designing the tour, but was equally capable of crafting a great day with no help from me. It was nice to feel like I could be as much or as little a part of those choices as I wanted and know it would still be a great day. Our tour was also with Mike - who was on time, communicative, friendly, a good driver and an overall great guide. We had a wonderful day full of fantastic beer, some tasty cider, great food and good music. I would absolutely use Hudson Valley Beer Tours again in the future!
