Today I am inspired to actually write this review because it is my 2nd day off in 40+ days, I'm mentally and emotionally exhausted and if I hadn't had the kindest and most patient young person walk me through how to order a breakfast sandwich, which is no more complicated here then anywhere else in the world, I probably wouldn't have managed to order one. Spacious with plenty of indoor seating. There weren't very many pastries left but we visited an hour before closing (5pm on a Tuesday) so the limited selection was unsurprising. The interior was clean but self-bussed dishes were piling up. The ambiance was pleasant, the lighting and interior temperature were on point, and the menu had a variety of beverage options and sizes. No wait in line translated to being assisted right away by the female barista/cashier. She looked tired and overworked. We ordered a medium chai latte and a medium hot chocolate as well as the lone cannoli that somehow knew my name and was whispering it until I bought it! The dough shell of the cannoli was completely stale and the taste was not worth the $7-something I paid. It misled me by its tantalizing looks! Great service, good coffee and yummy almond croissants. Busy place so we figured it was the local go to!

The vibe of the place was fine, nothing special I would say. The guy who was working wasn't warm or welcoming, more brusque and brisque. The drinks board was extremely misleading as well. The drink options (like coffee, latte, cappuccino, etc.) were listed along with the sizes available and the given price for each size. That's all standard. Where it gets to be extremely misleading is that available flavors were listed down the right side of the board. There were no prices listed besides these flavor options. So to me the assumption is that they fall under the prices listed to the left. Wrong by a mile. I didn't get a receipt but I wish I had just so I could tell you exactly what the difference in price was but it had to be almost DOUBLE what the normal price was because I only got a cupcake and a latte and it was fifteen bucks roughly. The price of a large latte ​according to listed price was $5.99 I think and there's no way I can't believe that a cupcake goes more than $6 and that's being very generous even for like artisan, handmade from scratch products. So that means the latte was around $9-10.00. Almost double the standard price. Also the crumb or texture of the cupcake was pretty pebble-y if that makes sense, dry and it was pretty much flavorless. The real flavor came from the frosting which was out of this world. I got their raspberry lemonade flavor and the frosting was probably one of the best things I've ever had in my life. If they sold just the frosting I would buy it by the boatload. But it's really a 50/50 question would I buy one again just for the experience of the frosting when the cake itself was practically unpleasant to eat. read more

Two medium lattes with one flavor and two pastries tallied up to over $29. Lattes weren't that flavorful but the pastries were delicious. Super flaky and crispy croissant. The cheese melts into a crispy treat if you get it toasted. Got the naughty chai, which gets 2 espresso shots, and you also get a nice latte art. Staff is super nice; the place is clean and also sells VT souvenirs and knickknacks. Cozy place to sit either indoors or outdoors. Got a comfy looking leather couch. Serves pastries and hot meals. Our family came in for a cup of coffee and some pastries. The staff there was fantastic! We mistakenly dropped a coffee and they were so gracious. We immediately tried to help clean up, but the team waved us off. They re-made the coffee (for free, which they didn't have to do!) and made us feel better about the accident with their good natured jokes. The coffee was great and the pastries were delicious. Stopped in for quick lunch while traveling in Stowe. We had three sandwiches, 2 iced coffees and a smoothie. Everything was tasty but not spectacular. The three of us split a slice of the chocolate pistachio torte. It was interesting. Not sweet at all. Couldn't quite decide what we thought of it but am glad I tried it. I had the BLT + C and found myself wishing I had just done a grilled cheese and added the bacon and tomato. It was a little soggy with the mayo and the cheese wasn't melted at all. Overall I highly recommend this place. Great vibe, good coffee, very welcoming. However their grilled sandwiches are way undercooked. The cheese was not even slightly melted. This was the case for both my sandwich and my wife's sandwich. I love this space and I love what they are trying to do. I was in search for a good coffee shop and I'm glad I stumbled upon Black Cap Coffee! They had outdoor seating with some adorable painted chairs. The inside is very spacious with a separate sitting room. I didn't stick around though due to Covid, but it would be an ideal coffee shop hangout. They have the desserts ready for pick up in a timely manner and at the store most convenient for Me. They always help me carry the items out to the car. The best part of the bakery are the specialty birthday cakes you can order. I can only say they are perfection in appearance and taste! Black Cap is very fortunate to have Ashia Messier as their baker! She is extremely knowledgeable, imaginative, friendly and calm. Every cake is beyond what I ask for! Without a doubt, when you luck out and the croissant is fresh it IS THE BEST in town and their "bougie coffee mocha choca lattes"are of course tasty because there is plenty of sweetener in it, BUT the drip is where you taste the true coffee and I believe their brand ( Bravo??) is horrible.
