I'm not sure how a small town grocery store can get any better than this. Just look at my photos. The shelves are stocked with every item in precision alignment. I glanced into the stock room and I do believe I saw Adrian Monk working there. As others have said, the meat dept seemed to be high quality as well. All employees that I interacted with were certainly pleasant and respectful. All in all, I had nothing to complain about here. Good selections and good prices. read more

Some thought many years ago that Bullocks would wither and die when Walmart opened at the other end of town like so many grocery stores in so many small towns. Surly, unhelpful staff who just talk among themselves rather than answer questions or pay even the slightest bit of attention to customers. Cashiers who literally eat food while they are checking customers out. And if you really don't care about dirtbags but you really, really, really, really, really like alcohol, this is your kind of place: Bullocks is actually a liquor store that also sells some canned goods, out of date "fresh" foods, and a sorry selection of "produce" that may or may not have been actual fruits and vegetables at some point in the past. In every possible way, the local Walmart is head and shoulders above Bullocks. Which should tell you all you need to know. read more

It's everything a huge chain store is not - a top notch fresh meat market, in store bakery, all the unique condiments a big city grocery offers, delivery to shut ins, groceries bagged for you. This is a small town grocery store that not only has a good meat counter, it also has lots of specialty items like goat cheese, kerrygold butter, whole milk yogurts and "fancy" crackers and jams etc. I love how it looks like how stores in the 70's and 80's looked - very throwback and I love it. The cake and donut case is good and they have a large beer and spirits /wine section. The rest of the selection beyond the specialty items is your usual fare. Totally fine. Sure there is a Wal Mart in town, but I try to support the local grocer as much as possible. read more

This grocery store is better than most big city stores. The staff was cheerful and friendly. The selection was impressive. There are high end brands and multiple vegan/vegetarian products as well as an excellent selection of alcoholic drinks (craft beer and wine). The store was clean and neatly kept. It was a pleasant walk from our hot springs motel. The service was great even on Christmas Eve. I cannot imagine anyone choosing the W-mart over this gem. Go local. read more

This is a fantastic little grocery store in the historic hot springs district of Truth or Consequences. It's like being in a cool time warp: they rent dvds, they have super friendly & helpful staff, shopping carts that flip up and they will even carry your bags to the car. They have a fantastic selection of beer, wine, spirits, cheese, produce and condiments. They also have a meat counter and bakery. We always buy all our food and booze from Bullocks when we visit T or C. Bonus points for selling a nice range of items like nutritional yeast, local salsa, Underberg & vegetarian soups. Nevermind the Bollocks, here's the rotisserie chicken! God save the Queen, and then feed her a free-range, raised-without-antibiotics farm fresh egg from this grocery. It's just about precisely what I anticipated finding in this unfortunately-titled town, think along the lines of Smith's/John Brooks, and they've made the appropriate effort to be inclusive to the gentrifying folk (think Me) by providing snotty so-called healthier options in the aisles, as well. Why, that's anarchy in the T or C, you say. By Johnny Rotten, I do believe it is! Seriously, it's just a grocery store, shop here, don't support Walmart, please. Oh, and they rent DVDs. What a disappointment this store was, not beautiful inside or out, the reviews were excellent and very misleading, selections are very limited and produced was just sad, picked up several bags of salad and already brown. Only picked up essentials and will head over to WalMart in a few day's. This is a surprisingly well stocked store for such a small town. Everyone we have met in this town is super friendly, and the cashiers here are really nice. We chatted like we were old friends. Great fresh produce. I liked the health food store items they carry too, like organic food and products. You will likely find everything you need here and have a nice conversation while checking out. Cannot get good bananas here. Too green to ripen properly. I got some today that looked ok but were black in the middle which means they are rotting probably due to being too green when arrived. Once before I got some very green bananas that never ripened. Not a bad store unless you need bananas read more

Me and my husband Jeff are from Alamogordo, but visit T or C at least once a year. Most of our experiences are Bullocks are pleasant ones, however, today was different. I've used the ATM there frequently, but today it declined my card. I knew I had money in there, so insufficient funds weren't an issue. I got my card back, along with my receipt, but it showed my balance $60 short, plus the $2.50 transaction fee, but I never received any cash. My frustration came into play when the assistant manager tried to argue with me. I knew what my balance was before I attempted the transaction, and I knew what it was supposed to be afterwards. The assistant manager kept looking at my receipt and refused to see my point. It indicated that no cash was dispensed, yet it still showed a lower balance. He told me there was nothing he could do except put an out of order sign on the machine, and that I could come in tomorrow to talk to the manager, which I have every intention of doing. I have always enjoyed shopping at Bullocks for years, but the assistant manager is obviously lacking in customer service skills. read more

When I first went to this gracery store, I was amazed and have loved it since. I truly love how the staff is friendy, helpful courteous and very nice. I like what I have found here and the meat department people are fantastic. I love how the produce section along with other areas of the store are very presentable and the cleaniness is great. The store literally stinks. Any grocery item that is not factory sealed such as cans is permeated with a musty odor as if the sewer had flooded the store. I've been in there 3 times in the past 2 months and nothing has improved. I do not like unnecessarily support Walmart, but it's either that or drive 70 miles. My trip to Truth or Consequences was planned around the infamous hot springs. I booked two rooms at the Blackstone for the fam and was pondering local dining options on the way. Once I got to the hotel, I knew I wanted to savor every second of the experience and not chase greasy burgers all over town. I decided to go load up on semi-prepared food and serve it up buffet style, with some jazzing up. Walmart and Bullock's came up on radar and though my wallet voted for Walmart, I felt the kindred spirit of supporting local, and off to Bullock's I went. If you ever visited monopolizing markets in any resort-ish out of the way town, you'll be prepared to pay $5 for a head of lettuce. You will be VERY pleasantly surprised to find this market has incredibly reasonable prices, many things were priced as well or better than your local Albertsons, Stater Bros, etc. I stocked up on prepared (don't judge me, I was working with a microwave) steaks, salads, cheeses, deli meats, bread, some desserts, chips, dips, salsa, beer, soda, etc, all the things I could throw together in a semi-kitchen. I found everything I had in mind and enjoyed local color in process. Thumbs up! read more

Went in to buy a few snacks. Chips, cookies, onion dip. A couple of sodas. Got to the check out counter and my wife noticed that the Lay's dip was darker than normal. I looked at the expiration date and it was may 2016. Today is Feb. 18th 2017. The clerk had the nerve to try and pass this off as a non issue. And stated that he couldn't be sure if that was the actual expiration or the use by date. I heard him tell the bag boy that they shouldn't have put those out and to remove them again. Bullocks is the Best! I moved here 20 years ago and started shopping at Bullocks and at Furrs(since closed). Now Walmart is in town, and while it's nice to have it, Nothing Beats Bullocks! Everyone from the manager Forrest to the cashiers(Vicky in particular) to the guys stocking the shelves, and Chris in the Deli/Butcher meat market are the nicest people to deal with. They handle special requests with ease, and always have time to help you find something or answer a question. Their prices are very competitive with Walmart and their service is Great. During the Wuhan virus scare all the Bullocks people showed up and kept the shelves stocked with the same friendly service: Better than Walmart did(nothing against the good people there). This local grocery store could hold its own against any grocery store. There's not a huge selection of organic items, but one can make do without too much effort. I found the prices to be a little higher, but I'd rather shop local than Wal-Mart, who could easily close its doors leaving the community without an option but to drive miles for groceries. We are huge fans of Bullock's. The meat department offers selections as good or better than you'd find in any big city! The liquor section offers anything you're looking for as well as new things to try...and try we do! It's our first stop whenever we get to town in this little home away from home for us. Ordered a cake that wasn't at all what I ordered and it was dry and parts of the cake were mostly frosting. They offered to"make it right by giving me a cake whenever I wanted another one" but when I called to order that, I was offered a discount. $10. Off --so then my pathetic cake experience could cost me $50. Instead of $30. I can spend my money elsewhere. read more

Bullocks has stayed in business all these years by providing very competitive prices on their sales items, the butcher shop, produce section, and liquor store. Also, they carry gourmet items that Wally World doesn't. That said, and I speak from experience, please be careful of outdated items, or items that have been thawed and refrozen, as well as prepared food in the deli section. In other words, use your own wisdom and shopping Bullocks can be a good deal. read more

We came here for the first time yesterday & was pleasantly surprised by the many vegetarian & organic options. The staff was extremely helpful & friendly. The beer selection was great! You can mix & match a 6 pack for just $9.50, what a deal. The bakery bakes a lot of their own beads & desserts. We will be coming back here for sure! Great grocery store in Truth or Consequences. It has the quality to hold its own against the Walmart at the other end of town. It has a great bakery, and is the best place to by meats in town. Has a very good liquor department with a wider selection that you would expect in a small town. Usually has a very nice selection of wines, including many from New Mexico. read more
