I came for an event hosted with Plainfield Library. Cute layout of pictures of Chicagoland concert venues. One side is the bar/Cafe while the other is the records and merchandise. Plenty of parking as it's located in a strip mall. One bathroom inside. They carry local craft beers. Fun coffee drinks too, but since I came in the evening, I didn't try any of those. Had the Purple Rain (espresso with your choice of milk, lavender and vanilla). Delicious combo! Had a pretty interesting breakfast menu too. Love breakfast foods so I need to head back to try that. Black Dog Vinyl Cafe is a record store and cafe. It's a pretty cool concept even though it's nothing unique if you've been around enough. Lots of coffee and some things such as baked goods and pastries. Fairly good prices on the coffee and food. The prices on vinyl aren't cheap especially for the new stuff. Came in to check out some of the coffee, food, and music. It has a nice little cafe where you order at the counter and have a seat. There's only a few tables. It has a few more interesting coffees. There's a Matcha Latte. It's $3.10 for a small cup. Try it with non dairy milk for an bit extra. Also has a few small bites. There's not a whole lot especially for vegans. All I could find was a Fresh Fruit Cup. It's $3 for one. This has blackberries, blueberries, and strawberries. Records were another thing and it was fun looking through a few. These can cost upwards of $20 for certain new and rare ones and I didn't even have a record player so there was no reason to pay that. Fun to come look around. It has a cafe side and the record side. The Five stars are definitely not a Bluff! I recently came here after having this place on my bucket list for over a year since they finally started serving liquor. So it's hidden in a strip mall off Route 59. This place is a one of a kind Cafe and record store you should not pass up on! Sure food prices and drinks are a bit high but the experience is worth the money you pay. Parking lot is huge. They have plenty of great events, very clean store with amazing staff, lounge seats and of course the bar selection. They have beer / Cider / seltzers and more! Their avacado toast was amazing! I picked up coffee here yesterday for my wife and they had a buy 1 get 1 free promo going on. I drink my coffee black and usually go with dark roast/espresso when ordering but decided to get a Thin Lizzy too because of the promo. It was literally the best latte I've had and had an incredible flavor balance. Even though it was sweet and rich, the bourbon coffee really pushed through the sweetness without overpowering. Next time you think about waiting 30 minutes in line at the Route 59 and Theodore Starbucks, check this place out. It's definitely worth a try! I have only tried the one drink at this point but it was good enough to make me a regular customer. read more
