We had been to one of the locations back when it was still Black Press Coffee Shop and we really liked it so we decided to give this location a try earlier this month. We ordered two cold brews, one with coconut and the other with dark chocolate, and both were very, very tasty and ones we would order again. We were a bit peckish so we also tried the homemade berry pop tart and that was fantastic and 100% something we'd order again in the future. I keep trying to give this place another chance, but keep leaving disappointed, unfortunately. The food & coffee are good (when cooked right); its the service that is the main issue. So many people I talk to have agreed they stopped going because of the service as well. The service is sub par at best- Teenagers standing around chatting while one person works, then unapologetic for how long your food takes. They look at you shocked when you say something about it. They are constantly out of ingredients early in the day, even coffee ingredients. One day I changed my order twice due to this & then ended up going somewhere else instead when they also couldn't make the 3rd option. Unacceptable! I saw other reviews stating this. Does anyone even read and care about these reviews? This morning was my 4th attempt at giving them another chance, and I will never return. The bacon on my sandwich was completely raw (see picture) & I waited over 15 min at the drive through window while two girls chatted and one girl was in the background working. Again, they were completely shocked that I wasn't happy. This is after guilt tipping them, because they ask for a tip before you get your food, annoyingly. I see reviews that this happens often. That makes me assume, as a customer, that there's a lack of preparedness for demand. To me, a repeated offense is below the standard of any quality service. While Black Elm beats any old Starbucks, the drive thru was incredibly slow this morning. I had never been here before and was excited about a local coffee house with a quick drive thru. Service was "meh" and my 8oz latte was average at best. They only offer whole milk, oat milk or almond milk- no 2% or fat free. Disappointing. No frills, just straight forward delicious coffee. The space is small with only two main places to sit. This is more of a get it and go type of spot. From what I saw in the back they roast all of their own coffee, which I love! You can tell Black Press really puts the time and passion into each cup. I had a iced americano and a birthday cake cookie during my laptop work session here. The americano was super smooth and just slightly bitter. I sucked this down and ordered a second! I really want to like this place because it's in such a convenient location However I've never had a positive experience. Every time I've come here you wait a minimum of 10 minutes for a single coffee, more likely to be closer to 20-30 minutes if you make the mistake of going through the drive thru. They are always out of food/syrups/milks. It's crazy, no matter what you order they will be out of at least one component required to make it. I decided to give them a last chance before sticking to Starbucks. Showed up around 10am on a Sunday and attempted to order a coffee and plain bagel. Food: the display pastries did not look inviting- as if they were sitting there for multiple days. And I made the mistake of ordering one anyway. The scone was bigger than my hand. The orange flavor of the cranberry orange scone came through very well, but overall, the scone was not satisfying. The texture was more like dense bread than a buttery, flaky pastry and for something that is supposed to be made of butter, the scone was on the dry side. Sad. The service, however, was impeccable and the ambience was pleasant like a neighborhood corner coffee shop should be. Lastly, the coffee was nowhere near hot; it was lukewarm. Other Black Press shops may be better, but this one is in the neighborhood and I wanted to support them, especially since they're across a parking lot from Starbucks. This is seriously the best latte I've ever had in my life! I have to admit--I had an allegiance to another coffee shop in town, so I was hesitant to go here. After all, they only just recently started serving coffee by the drink. But after stopping in one day a few months ago and trying their latte, I'm hooked! The taste is so much smoother than what I'm used to. The shop is pretty cool-alllll the way down at the end of the strip mall off Sanders Ferry Rd. They are so nice too--they let me bring my kids behind the counter to look at their coffee roaster and showed them how it works. They said they might be leasing out the space next to them soon, which will give them more room to have the actual coffee shop vibe that they need. Visiting my daughter in the area and we stumbled on this adorable coffee shop. She's new to the area and we are always up for a quick cup of coffee. Being from Southern California, I was pleasantly surprised to find so many non-dairy options and fair trade bean selections. The staff is friendly and the barista is an artist while amazingly quick at getting our orders. The shop is adorable with a great blend of historic and trendy vibe. If I lived closer I could see myself working out of here. We even happened upon a community conference room perfect for that work from home but need a conference room situation. After moving away from Nashville to Hendersonville I was in need of local suggestions and was told by multiple people to check out this place. While I'm extremely grateful that they were open on one of the snow days when most people were closed, I had the worst coffee I've ever had. I'm not sure if the vanilla syrup was bad, if the espresso in the latte was burnt, or both. But it was unbearable to drink. I didn't go back because I waited until I was home to try it and wasn't getting back out in the snow. I decided to try this place one more time hoping I had visited on an off day the first time. Today I ordered my latte and this girl was much friendlier than the lady last time! I was very pleased with her service. I was hopeful that I would get a good cup of coffee because I learned Kave is closed on Sundays. I ordered a lavender latte but when I got to the window I had asked if they made my drink yet. She said it hadn't been made and asked me what I wanted to change. I saw honey as a flavor on the menu after I ordered so I just wanted to change the syrup flavor. She was happy to do it and said "we want you to have what you want" - again, her service was great! When she handed me the honey latte she said, "here let me give you this too" and then handed me a lavender one. So today I actually got to try two coffees - which makes me feel more sane and validated considering they're both horrible. Just as bad as last time. Part of me wonders if it's the businesses process or products maybe, and hopefully not human error. It's the coffee, it's burnt horribly, or just not good to begin with. Because she was so sweet and gave me two, I don't have the heart to go back and ask for it to be remade. I wish this place was good because it's so close to where I live. As a person who is a coffee addict and spends most of the weekends visiting coffee shops, trying different coffee, I think I can say that Black Press Coffee Shop is a legitimate place to get your coffee fix in the Nashville Area. I get my coffee beans here, but on the weekends (and weekdays when I'm super busy to make coffee myself), I get the iced Cuban or iced Americano. Their Mocha is also pretty good for the days I want to satisfy my sweet tooth craving. My husband isn't a fan of coffee (what a shame, right?!), but the Chai is his favorite go-to order. He even had the Matcha and says both are the best he's ever had. They also have delicious cookies! Anyway, go ahead and try their coffee yourself and see what I mean. read more

Don't miss this gem nestled in a crappy strip mall along with payday loans and tattoo providers. Seriously. First, the people working there are amazing, friendly, and know their coffee. The coffee is roasted on weekdays and there's a selection of over a half dozen single origins. They do pour overs and oat milk lattes, two of my favorites. I also bought some washed light roast beans from Peru and they were great. To top it off, they carry pastries from Five Daughters Bakery Thursday through Saturday. Definitely a Hendersonville secret, especially with it's location. It's hidden away at the far end of an older, narrow strip mall (the strip mall itself being a little hidden off Walton Ferry Rd.) If you're able to locate it, you'll have a wonderful cup of coffee. I definitely would like to be a regular, at least when I'm in the Hville area. The interior is small but very cozy, quiet, and well-furnished, and the barista is friendly. With it being in Hville, I was expected it to have a bit of a conservative "Chripster" vibe that many coffee shops in suburban Nashville have.
