My Pad Se Ewe was well seasoned, vegetables were properly cooked, and the tofu I requested was also seasoned. Mike is a nice guy and his beer is excellent. "Gravity Falls" is a stout aged in whiskey barrels. Chocolate notes and complex flavors abound. My vegetarian omelette was filled with tender broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and sliced avocado on top. Hash browns were delightfully crisp. Cappuccino was hot but too milky and shot was sour - a finer grind and half the milk would fix that. Now, this was my mother's best dish ever, and I never thought I would find pot roast that rivaled hers, but this was the real deal. Incredible. Portions were big enough for 2 people. Service was outstanding and very friendly, prices were fair. The only "problem" was that on a Friday night, there were very few people there. This restaurant deserves a larger crowd. We were visiting the town during a short vacation. If we're there again, will definitely hit up Black Gold Brewing Co for dinner again. Well at first good, but then the owners a married couple an American man and a Thi woman, started to treat us like outsiders. I am M cican and my husband is Japanese. They have a menu half this and half cowboy beef stew, roast pot, pad tie, egg rolls we went for the pot roast and when I asked what part of the beef was the pot roast she laughed and say is part of the caw. She thought It was funny. Then the American cowboy came and said "my wife told me that your wife asked her what part of the beef was in the post roast " and he said is the pot belly," my husband said it was just a joke. Nice craft brew house and restaurant in the heart of Taft. A throwback with modern conveniences. My wife and I stopped in after a morning of antique shopping and we noticed how cozy and clean it was. Great bar to the right that reminds you of an old western saloon. A few tv's playing today's news. A gun & ammo shop towards the back! God bless America. So many choices I wanted to try but we settled on a cheeseburger and orange chicken. The meat for the burger was a good choice meat. Onion rings I never tried because my wife devoured them so yes they were very good. The show stopper? The orange chicken was PHENOMENAL OUTSTANDING TREMENDOUS. Every bite was perfect. No chewy chunks or bitter tasting orange sauce. Crunch after crunch and a perfectly blended orange sauce. We sampled an egg roll too and it along with the homemade sauce was perfect. We were on a motorcycle ride and had to stay in Taft. We went to this place out of curiosity and hunger, and both were satisfied. I mean, where can you buy guns and ammo, get a craft made beer, made fresh and delectable Thai food and one damn good steak? It's this place! The service was amazing and the fresh bake apple pie that she brought out and we all got big pieces of, was like grandma made it. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Where to begin.... I'll start with what was positive. This place might be the best looking business in Taft. Really great decor with wood, corrugated metal and oil field memorabilia. The space is large, open and welcoming. The storefront opens up to incorporate the outdoors and front patio seating. The beer is really good! This place has tremendous potential to be the hot spot in Taft! But...the hours they are open seem to be at the whims of the owner. They serve espresso drinks, but the owner is "too busy" to train his servers. (His words). The morning we were there, the staff could not even brew a regular pot of coffee, let alone make a latte. Another customer I observed had reserved a table and ordered breakfast for the parade morning of Oil Dorado. When she inquired about her breakfast order, she was simply told, by the owner, "we're not doing breakfast today"...no apology or anything!!! We had tried four times, over two separate weekends, to have a beer, only to find the place closed??? What brewery closes at 7pm?? I didn't eat a meal, but reviews from those with me were ho-hum. Well we went to have dinner here last night with friends and a drink. Our friends were already there when we arrived so we looked over our menus and made our drink choices. The waitress was really sweet and helpful she gave suggestions. I think this place is more like for a drink and not necessarily the food. We placed our order for the food and everything came out very slowly lots of people were waiting for their meals. Our table 3 of our plates came out and then 3 of us had to wait for our food to be served later on during dinner. Everything finally came out and we all had our meal and got to pay our bill. One of the reasons I think that the mill took so long is that there are so many male choices Thai food American food Italian food just too much of a variety that may take the kitchen longer to prepare. So if you'd like to go in here for a drink again the service was excellent as far as the waitress was concerned but the meal service is very slow the place is clean and it is right on the store front street so it makes it nice. read more

On a 200 mile loop from the Central Coast to the Central Valley and back generally has us looking for a place to have lunch about midway that is biker friendly. Taft is usually the place to find a restaurant. Because of the pandemic, I looked for a location that might have outdoor seating assuming Kern County may still have restrictions to eating indoors. Searching Taft on Yelp,I found this location. This will be our future eatery anytime we travel through Taft. They offer traditional American, as well as Thai food, and their own craft beer. If your kidney is strong and your hypertension is normal, then go to this place. We ordered egg drop soup and drunken noodles as part of 5 dishes we ordered, they were way too salty. The service is also slow, they must only have 1 cook in the kitchen. The male server also needs to learn about proper way of serving food on the table & not to put the serving spoon on the table without any napkin under. It is just unsanitary. And he did it twice. No way we're going back to this place. No wonder there were empty tables when we went. The only reason we went there was when we went to Asian Experience Restaurant it was packed and was told to wait for more than an hour.
