I was happy that this location reopened as I am a local. I was disappointed that it turned out to be a women-repeller. I believe that I gave it a fair shot. First visit was with my husband, and I was the only woman in the bar, other than the bartender. There were a bunch of good-old-boys drinking beer and laughing. That's fine! I don't mind that most of the time. The décor in here is strange. It is like they picked up random horse items and stuck them wherever there was a spot. No purse hooks for the ladies. I awkwardly juggled my purse on my lap (most women don't hang them on the back of the chair- good way to have items stolen). Husband and I sat at a table and the bartender called over to us that there is no table service. Still not a big deal, he gets up and orders us beers. I don't know why I have to look at the bartender's bra but ok. No, this was not a "wardrobe malfunction". It was part of the attire. Maybe that explains all the GOB's in here. A table of women came in. Hello fellow females! They sat down and not 5 minutes go by before some guys are pulling up chairs and trying to engage them. I was pretty sure they didn't know each other. The women seemed uncomfortable/annoyed and left after one round. A few weeks later, I was at the winery up the street with my girlfriend. We wanted some substantial food. I told her about BHT up the street and my experience there. We took a chance and there were more women inside this time. (Along with the bra showing bartender). We asked for a cocktail menu and they didn't have one. My friend tries to order what would be a "girly drink" but they didn't have the ingredients. She doesn't drink beer and settled for a high ball. I had a beer and we looked at the menu. She got a chicken sandwich, and I ordered a grilled cheese steak without onions. The food took a long time. We had another round while and waited. Finally, it arrives and...my sandwich has onions on it. I send it back. We wait. And wait. I told my friend to eat. She was done her sandwich (which she only ate half of) and I'm asking again for my order. I asked the bartender why it wasn't being done on the fly. When there is a mistake, that order most of the time takes priority. She said the cook had too many things on the grill right now and it would be a longer wait for my order. I told her I'll save him the trouble and she can cancel it. The bartender felt bad, apologized profusely, and comped my beer. She didn't have to do that. I would have paid for the beer. Then I realized they were cash only so the ATM charges meant I ended up spending even more money here than I wanted to. I asked my friend how here lunch was and she said, "not good". I guess she didn't like her sandwich but no one else bothered to ask. Unless there are vast improvements, I can't see myself going back here. This is a shame because I like to support local businesses. The room is a very nice space and it is nonsmoking. The beers are cold, and the bartenders are quick. My advice: If you want women to come into your establishment, and you want to make some money, then you need to make some changes. Get a cocktail menu. Cover up the lacy bras on your staff. Install some purse hooks. Tell the regulars not to harass the newcomers. Start accepting credit cards. Train your cooks what "on the fly" means. There is potential here as I mentioned the winery up the road. That is a draw! Turn this into a place where women will feel safer and welcome and they may start coming in. read more

Today was my first time in this establishment. The Black Horse Tavern is a larger local tavern. The menu is extensive with many food items. The is no wait staff and not many tables to sit at. The tables they do have are high tops, which I do not mind. There are plenty of stools around the long bar. The bartender was a young female who was pleasant and knew what she was doing. She gave us many recommendations for food and the food did not disappoint. All in all indefinitely recommend this place to the fullest. Looking forward to coming back. read more

I love this place. I am a huge fan of local dive bars and this one is great. There is a large mural on the wall depicting the "regulars" which you can pick out the familiar faces at the bar almost everyday during happy hour. Even if you are not a regular, the record does not scratch when you walk in this place. Everyone seems very cheerful and inviting. If you are faint of heart, I would not recommend listening to the patrons banter, it tends to get very colorful as the night goes on. I love it! The best bar food for your money! My absolute favorite bar EVER. But I still call it "The Moon". If you were a regular, you would too. When I hear Toby Keith's "I Love This Bar", I totally think of this place. I live in Cali now, but I sure miss this bar a lot. Lots of friendly people, regulars, and blue-collared fellas. Sasha and Lori are my favorite bartenders. But all the bartenders are super nice. If you like country music, great food, cheap beer, and dive bars, go to this bar. It is ALWAYS entertaining. And if you are a pretty girl or a regular, you will always have a gentleman want to buy you a beer. :) read more

While the locals at the bar seem a bit rough around the edges they are all very friendly. If you are a smoker you will love this place because you can smoke all you want inside. Beware the smoke is not for the faint of heart.... The place is small and has no ventilation so the smoke gets so thick you can see it.... They also serve food and from some of the sandwiches I saw coming out they looked pretty good. Even though the smoke is overwhelming I may come back because the bar tender, Cassie, was nice and very attentive, the drunks very inexpensive, and the crowd was friendly. read more

Well, I've only been here a few times on a Sunday afternoon and really do like the place. The atmosphere is casual and the crowd mainly a local working man's type. They have an above average beer selection with some interesting bottle selection in the cooler. Plenty of T.V's to catch a game and the food coming out of the kitchen looked fantastic though I only had Fries. My only grip is that smoking is allowed and while I don't mind smoking establishments in general on my first visit the smoke was sooo bad they actually opened a door and had a large fan blast the smoke outside. That said, I must not have minded too much since I was back the next week. They have a great weekend Happy Hour from 2 to 4 in the afternoon with some great drink and food specials. The place is not around the corner from me or I would probably go more often. The regulars seem friendly and the bartender was quick, attentive and attractive! Can't ask for more than that. And yes it is fun to try and pick out the regulars from that mural on the wall. read more

Never will go back there again. Went there one night walked in sat down and ordered a beer. Picked a couple of songs in the jukebox and when I went back to my seat I tapped the bar tender on the shoulder and at the same time I said "hey, I like your earrings" bartender immediately turned around and yelled at me saying "don't ever f-ing touch me again" every conversation in the place stopped and everyone looked at me as if I just tried to assault the bartender. After reading some of the reviews and looking at the menu the Black Horse Tavern was perhaps worth a try. We arrived on a Friday night and took literally 2 steps in and were engulfed in cigarette smoke. I kid you not it looked a fog was inside the "restaurant". My wife and I nturned around and bolted out of this place. Our clothes and hair reeked of smoke - and this ends my review. read more

Great food and service. Friendly bartenders. They have a pool table and a jukebox. The flatbread is great and so are the wings.

There's no denying that the drink prices and quality of food are great at the Blackhorse, but just like the other two locations, the crowd is full of degenerates. read more
