This is my first time here. Usually I would go to nimbus flat or folsom lake to paddle board. But this spot was recommended by my sister. I like that it has a boat launch areas but also beach front area for paddling or kayaking. I especially like that they Jane paddle board rentals and life jackets nearby. The beach are is shallow in which kids can play without parents worrying, however there is a life guard. Its a pretty big park, as there are bbq areas to picnic. Would definitely come back here to picnic or just paddle board.

We spend a lot of time here paddle boarding and walking the trail. Great way to spend your day outside. Bathrooms are usually clean enough and I hardly ever see trash lying around. A lot of ducks and wild life in general.

We frequently walk here. Also, a great place to enjoy a sunset You can easily access it from Folsom or park in the lot ($10 fee) It can get crowded but not always!

Black miners bar is a great experience I went a little further than I did previously on my walk. I didn't notice much of a hike in the area but you can definitely walk for miles on end. If anybody knows where I can actually find some elevation let me know. I got a free state park pass from the library, typically you pay the state park fee to enter this park. It's basically located Folsom Citrus Heights border. They also have a lake where you can get in paddle board fish, there is a horse stable not too far away I've seen horses come through there. Also the big talk when I was walking was the fact that they had an Eagles Nest somewhere close by, and you could see the eagle it's if you accessed it from a specific trail. I saw the nest but I didn't see any Eagles. This is a great Park to venture, I highly suggest researching the history of the park. It was great history of a black miners.

I went here on a Sunday afternoon for a picnic. It cost $10 to park, and there were a few different parking areas. The far parking lot is where people take their paddle boards. The close parking lot is the one by the beach. There are bathrooms down by the beach and one by the parking lot. The only reason I'm deducting a star is because the bathroom didn't have toilet paper or paper towels or soap. This beach is dog friendly, but there are some things you should be aware of. There are geese (and therefore goose poop) everywhere. So, if your dog is gross like mine, they might try to roll in goose poop. Other triggers for reactive dogs are that up by the parking area, there are a S**TTON of squirrels and they are so very brave. One ran under our picnic table while my dog was sitting on the table. Not okay. And lastly, there was an off leash dog there, which is a trigger for my dog. I really liked how all the picnic tables had shade over them.

We absolutely love this place. We come here several times a month. Beautiful beach, and AMAZING kayaking. Definitely recommend coming here

Parking is $10. Great place to paddle board and watch the sunset. The paddle board community is very respectful and friendly.

Friendly staff and clean bathrooms. Lifeguard on duties was comforting. Kayaks, canoe and paddle board for rent was a plus. We felt safe bringing kids under 10 during our mini getaway from the summer heat. This place will be our favorite annual spot for summer from now on.

Great Juneteenth celebration lots of reunions, paddling out to the little island with the geese and swans and limestone wall--103 degrees, a summer feeling.

I'm loving this location for the summer fun. I can't believe 30 years of living I just now found out about it. My family and friends usually go to nimbus lake or Folsom lake but this location is perfect and it's right in the middle of them. There are boulder areas right under the Folsom Blvd bridge I believe the name is rainbow bridge. You can lounge or jump off of them. When the sun is high and bright you can see clearly through the water to the floor bed. I recently purchased a SUP so I am going to start to take it out more often. This location have plenty of fire grills, benches, there's a kayak rental, and best of all a few gazebos to help give you some shade. Plenty of parking as well. I'm definitely coming back soon (:

It made me excited to rent from this business. My booking was for 4th of July and even before I booked I did speak with them about booking and they gave me their advice. I arrive for her to tell me that all state parks are full and she blocks bookings off after 11, knowing that I booked for 11:30. I do understand that it's a holiday and a weekend, so state parks being at full capacity is out of her hands. What I do not appreciate was her tone and attitude with us versus other customers, her not giving us a heads up knowing we were running late, and she still gave people more of the options of getting their rentals and where they can try versus what felt like she was simply dismissing us. May try to come again, but for a 2 hour drive and to receive customer service like that in person versus whoever I previously spoke to on the phone- to be determined.

I felt this way about Mello so I wanted to share my experience in this review and hope others give them a chance and come away feeling the same way I did. I stumbled upon this place during my search for a used wake surf boat. They were listing a used Calabria boat that I went to go check out. We were greeted by the owner Sally and we got to talking about wake surf boats in general. She spent about 30-45 min with us talking about her history, wake surf boats and telling us about the Centurion boats that she sells. Since I had never owned a wake surf boat before she gave us some really good info and insight into what makes a good surf boat and why Centurion was one of the top manufacturers. We left knowing we had to do more research which I did. Fast forward a year later, I ended up getting a used centurion wake surf boat. My point is I would have never thought about a Centurion boat until speaking with Sally, and we really appreciated her time and knowledge on the subject. We certainly don't have new boat money but we never felt dismissed or judged or made to feel less important because we weren't there looking at new boats. We also never felt like Sally was pushing us to Centurion or a specific direction. She was certainly highlighting why she felt the Centurion boats were the best, but I did my own research and eventually came to the same conclusion. I felt like the Centurion boats were high quality builds and they were the ones that started the whole wake surf boat build. I just recently dropped off my boat to Mello Marine to have them service it and add some features to it. It's not the closest shop (2 hrs away) but it's the one I felt most comfortable with and trusted. I first spoke with Luke who was great and helpful on the phone and I have since been dealing with Ricky. Everyone I have encountered at Mello Marine has been great, helpful, courteous, and professional. I have been genuinely impressed and pleased in all my interactions with this family run operation. The hotel was the perfect combo of luxe, jungle living. Steps from the ocean, the property was exactly what I was hoping for. The pool was a nice touch and the open air restaurant on-site was fresh and delicious. Now for the surfing and yoga! I was a beginner at yoga at the time and Cris was an amazing instructor. I felt completely comfortable and excited to push myself to learn more. The open air yoga studio overlooking the ocean was so peace during each morning yoga sesh. So, even though I have lived in San Diego my whole life, I waited until my 30s and going to Costa Rica to learn to surf. Crazy! But I am glad I did, because the rolling waves in Costa Rica were so perfect to learn on. The small groups at Pura Vida coupled with the super experienced instructors really helped me feel like I was getting one-on-one attention. I was so proud of myself for pushing through my fear and riding waves in. By the end of the week, I was both refreshed (mind) and exhausted (body). With two small kids at home and a demanding job, Pura Vida was the perfect getaway to reenergize my mind and spirit. I also loved heading into town- such a quant place with good restaurants and fun people. We also zip-lined one day, which was so amazing - Starting at the top of the jungle canopy with the most amazing ocean view, and working our way down to the beach! When I got home, I bought a surf board and began surfing in San Diego. Or maybe you are already a fantasitc surfer, but don't feel comfortable travelling to Costa Rica by yourself for a surf vacation? If this is you, I HIGHLY suggest booking a trip with Pura Vida Adventures. An amazing woman and friend of mine, Tierza, started this business about 4 years ago, and I was part of the very first all girls camp.....and I can't possibly iterate how empowering, fun, beautiful and enriching my experience was....probably because of all the tequila I drank while I was there. My memory is a little foggy ;-) I fell so in love with the area, Malpias and Santa Teresa, that I now travel back on my own to enjoy the same beautiful coastline, waves, rainforests, and people (THE HOTTEST men I have EVER seen living in one tiny area in my life!!) Here's a great quote that a girl from my camp wrote at the end of our trip...I think she sums it up very well: "Start by imagining the perfect week: surfing, yoga, wonderful food, beautiful women, falling asleep to the sound of the waves every night - wake to the sounds of tropical birds in the morning. Maybe see the stars like you've never seen them before. Start telling time by the direction of the wind and the tides. Forget what day it is. How hard can you paddle? Drink? Laugh? Double that, and that's Pura Vida." Although the camp caters to all women groups, they do have some weeks throughout the season that are coed....so, if any guys are interested in this, check out the calendar on their website. www.puravidaadventures.com To get a discounted rate, pay 60 days in advance of your trip. NorCalWomensSurfClub members get an even bigger discount, and joining NCWSC is free and easy to do on their website. So, I highly recommend that for savings....and it's a great way to meet other female surfers. This is one of the most amazing times I have had travelling...and I try to travel as much as I can. It definitely took some months off my life, at least off of my liver, and I think there's a video of me riding a mechanical bull that I wouldn't want my parents to see floating around somewhere on the internet....but, so worth it. I made friendships that will last a lifetime....and it gave me the confidence to begin travelling solo.... Pura Vida

We did a two day south fork trip, with a stop for the night on the river bank. Our guide Cryin' Bryan(just kidding Brian!!) and bonus gear guy Gator, were absolutely amazing. The were kind, helpful, had the best stories and cooked the best food. We did 21 miles of river over two days and it was unbelievable. Things we learned on this trip... -Gator taught me how to make a camping mocha(more like chocolate coffee when I made it!) with instant cocoa mix, coffee, creamer and water. -A tortilla wrap with PB&J and trail mix is the thing of dreams. -The front right seat of the raft is the 'hot' seat(or wet seat) and you will get hammered repeatedly. Haha. -Camping on the side of the river is magic. Pure. Magic. -Hospital bar has its name for a reason. -Composting toilets in the woods smell like a gerbil cage. -Brian's love of Star Wars and pineapple fried rice lead me to believe we could be real life friends. -You can make lifelong friends out of strangers you meet on a rafting trip. The meals they provided were amazing. Well beyond normal camping fare. For sure a perk with the trip. With things like chicken salad pitas, pancakes, sandwich wraps and fajitas, we were never hungry. We upgraded to the canvas tent they have at the campground for the first night and it was wonderful. The little front porch and getting to hear the river while we slept was magic. The newly upgraded bathrooms were probably the nicest I've seen at a rustic camp ground. The shower stalls are outside, but each one has a locking door with the shower stall and a little changing area with hooks and a bench(and the rain shower heads were great, but know the water pressure isn't the hardest, but not the worst either). When the 'Boss Man' picked us up from the river on the last day, it was really neat to get to chat with him. He asked for anything we think would add to the trip, and the only thing we can think of would be to bring along a yard game for the overnight trips, like ladder-ball or something for on the river. But there is absolutely nothing we would change. Enjoy my million pictures. I really couldn't pick and choose what to show, so I showed it all! We can't wait to go back!!
