We felt like Dude Perfect! When we got tired, there were so many options to recharge: giant chess or cornhole, watching the wakeboarders, or just sunning on the turf beside our cabana. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews are about the water quality. This is not a pool, so the water is not clear; it has vegetation; and stocked fish control for mosquitoes. Since we already read about this online, we were neither surprised nor grossed out. It was a fun day outdoors! The office staff were super warm, hospitable, and accommodating. Even as we added to our food order last minute (because I saw how active the kids were being... they were ravenous!), they flexed with our request. The pizza was hot; the fruit was refreshing. We felt so well cared for! Safety-wise, I'm glad we brought older kids, mostly very strong swimmers, and vigilant parents. The course is large, and there are spots that are invisible from the lifeguards' posts. We had to initiate with the lifeguards a few times because they weren't giving us any information/direction. (eg: Can we start? Where do we start? Any rules we need to know? Are you still on break, or can we go in again?) They did not seem to have a system for the lifejackets. They were sleepy and eager to clock out. This is the first open weekend of the season; I trust they will establish consistent group protocols as the summer goes on. I really don't think it is a safe level of algae for children since they are definitely going to get the water in their mouths. We had business in the Davis area, and stopped at Wake Island on a Saturday mid-July. It was HOTTTT and the park was pretty busy. We didn't plan ahead with a ton of notice, our decision was pretty last-minute, so we weren't 100% prepared. It doesn't look like much at the end of a sketchy dirt road lines with foxtails & weeds, but an oasis of aqua blue water awaits inside! Cabanas were already sold out, and I didn't know you were expected to bring your own shade & chairs, but we made the best of it. Admission is a little spendy, and the wake boarding portion is an add-on. Lockers are available for rent and there is food and drinks & even adult bevs for sale. Lifejackets are required for ALL entering the water and are provided by the park. Water shoes are essential, IMO, the hot springs feel of the water just made the obstacle course so slick. Seeing all the middle-aged parents out there, wooo buddy, some ACLs/MCLs - all the CLs - were straining this day! We had a blast, and so did our 14yo & 16yo, and if you know *anything* about teens, is they made everything seem like it's just no fun until afterwards LOL. They already said they'd like to go back! Pro tip: bring beach chairs, pop-up or umbrella, and LOTS of sunscreen & some decent water shoes, towels or sandsheet. The only downside was there were TONS of rowdy older teens running & tackling each other. Clearly athletes/football players, they didn't really seems to care that they ran over kids & bumped into other people, as long as they got to body slam each other into the water. So keep your head on a swivel before its your ACL that gets in their way.

No outside foods are allowed even though we did see people with food set up at their sites they brought in (kinda felt like we were the only ones without our own food. The key is to sneak it in but we were being honest people) . I guess since it was in a bag and not a cooler they didn't care. They do let you bring in reusable water bottles. This is a great place to bring your family they have the main obstacle course (not for the weak Lol ) which you'll have to be 48" and taller to participate in, but they also have a less intense one for the little kids ans toddlers. There's a slide and zip lining which is included in the price. We choose Groupon for our entry. They also have the wake boarding for an additional fee. Con and definitely should be evaluated!!! The only problem I had was there was no dress code and for this to be a place for families and people of all ages to be at why are girls walking around with their butts out! I don't mean the swimsuits wedgie but full on thong bikinis around children ! I was disgusted to see that and it was just ok. Like it's a time and a place for everything. Not saying the need full on water suites but decorum and consideration along with respect for others goes along way. I kno you can't make someone wear something different but when you go bowling you have to wear the special shoes right ! They should consider no cheeks out at wake island. Other then that. The only downside is the cleanliness. We've seen trash and food on the ground. The bathroom and locker room don't smell great and we've seen wet paper and food in them. We'd love to have lessons here again and hopefully the facilities will be cleaner when it's less busy.

I never take my eyes off my kids in the water no matter who is teaching them and I'm thankful! My daughter was practicing her little kicks while holding on to the wall but at one point she let go and was too far from the wall to get back to it. I waited to see that her teacher would notice but they didn't. The lifeguard was right in front of her and they didn't notice that she was going under and couldn't come back up. She was a beginner, unable to reach the bottom and the class was a group class for reference. I stood up and ran to my daughter to help her get back to the wall and the life guard shouted, "No running." I looked at him and said, "Then do your job!" I was livid. Nobody apologized for their negligence. Some lifeguards seem to just be there, not to keep the kids safe. I wouldn't recommend the classes at all. I didn't want this experience to hinder her desire to learn so I talked it over and she decided to face her fear after knowing I would ALWAYS be watching and keeping her safe. We finished the week and then went to an actual swim school for lessons and she's thriving. The fun part of this complex is definitely the kids water playground and the slides. I'd recommend this over the swim classes any day.

I took him away and put him where he belonged. I had three kids with me all different ages and heights. The Positives: The lifeguards here take their jobs very seriously. They actively monitor the pools to ensure kids aren't playing too rough. For safety reasons, they don't allow parents to ride down the yellow slide with toddlers--there isn't a sign posted about this, but we were completely fine following the rule to set a good example for the kids. The Layout & Safety: One design quirk to watch out for if you have toddlers is that the 2-foot kiddie area connects directly to the 4-foot pool without a barrier. It can be a bit risky for non-swimmers who might accidentally wander into the deeper water, so expect to be right in the pool with your little ones the whole time. Crowds & Amenities: Weekends get incredibly packed, to the point where it's hard for kids to swim without bumping into others. Seating and shade are very limited, which is why a massive line forms before opening. You essentially have to sprint inside to claim a spot; otherwise, you're stuck standing in the sun. Also, note that the big slide isn't guaranteed to be running. It was closed during our recent weekend visit. Timing & Cost: They currently run two separate sessions (12:00 PM-2:30 PM and 3:30 PM-6:00 PM).
