On July 4, 2022 I ordered two house coffees a breakfast sandwich and a blueberry scone for my friend and myself. We sat inside waiting for approximately 13 minutes since my name was never called. When I went to the counter the girl said they were out of coffee, and our food was sitting on the counter during this time. She did make some coffee for us, but then we were told to leave 5 minutes later because they were closing early for 4th of July. We will never return after being treated so horribly. read more

(Spiced?)Brown Sugar Latte: 9/10- A little less sweet than I would have liked, but smooth and the cinnamon came through! Breakfast Burrito: 8/10- ALL THE CHEESE, which is nice. But I wish there was a little more eggs and potatoes and maybe some bacon? It felt like a quesadilla disguised as a burrito. I loved this spot! I wish I stayed in Ukiah longer to try out one of their coffee milkshakes! My friend ordered a croissant sandwich and a quiche and loved both! I just got a plain toasted croissant and an iced chai (it was 90 degrees out) and I forgot to mention to lightly sweeten the chai but I didn't have to because it was perfect! My plain buttery croissant was delicious too. Service was great, the place is so cute and even though it was really hot outside they had a nice outside area for us to sit and enjoy our chilled caffeine beverages. I personally love making coffee at home. But when on the road, do my best to support local businesses, while also experiencing new things. Initially I tried to go to the local Starbucks where I waited entirely too long not even to order. While waiting I looked on yelp for coffee and was lucky to come across this place. Walked in to a long line that quickly dwindled down giving me time to decide what I wanted with my dark roast coffee. The coffee was perfect and looking back I wish I would have bought a bag of it before leaving town. The staff is fast, effective, and friendly. Best way to start the day. These folks are AMAZING!!! Best coffee I've had in town not to mention extremely honest and upright citizens. I left my wallet here yesterday, they phoned me back right away to confirm they had it. My babygirl and I are always on the lookout for new local coffee shops while we're traveling. Especially when we're heading towards the winding highway that leads to Mendocino on the tail end of a food coma. Thankfully extraordinary Sacramento Yelper Dominique M. gave this place a glowing review, which caused me to bookmark it several months ago. You never know when those bookmarks will come in handy. The first thing that stood out is this place is massive! So much room to spread out and relax for awhile. It's also much more tastefully decorated than I would expect for Ukiah. We were getting our coffees for the road but I could see myself lounging here for awhile if we weren't. There was some confusion on how many shots were in a medium latte. I wanted an extra shot since it came with a measly two shots when it should be 3. You pay extra per shot so we asked for one extra making it three. Then the girl asked if we wanted 4 shots. No, basically because I'm not willing to pay $6 for a medium coffee drink since they gouge you extra for soymilk. Then I read the fine print on the menu that all shots are double shots. So, I suppose if you request an extra shot you actually get two shots? That's my mistake for not asking to clarify it. There was a sign saying that their drinks aren't as hot as you might be used to at other coffee places since they steam their milk at the proper temperature. I thought this would be perfect since my honey doesn't like her coffee too hot.. When I went to sip some off the top so that we could fit the lid on, I damn near burned my mouth. I suppose the barista isn't as accustomed to working with soymilk. I probably wouldn't have thought twice about it if they hadn't posted that pretentious sign. The latte itself was actually well made, temperature issues not withstanding. It was almost as good as anything I can find in the Bay Area. Now was it worth $5.50 or whatever we paid? Hell no! Will that stop me from coming here again? Hell no! This coffee is good! I just don't expect to spend Bay Area prices when not in the Bay Area. Even though they bend you over with the soymilk surcharge, for brewed drinks, they do offer soymilk on the counter for adding your own. In fact, I would consider this a five star coffee house if not for being ripped off for soymilk. Their 20% off a 1 lb bag of coffee check in offer is enticing should I ever come back through here. The delicious Vegan banana bread tea cake is even more reason to stop in. read more

Two words: frozen chai. On a visit last year, I ordered an iced chai. The barista told me that, for the same amount of money, the frozen chai was the drink I should order. They were right! It's hard to describe, but the texture is kind of like a granita. It's definitely my favorite way to order a chai, and Black Oak is the only place I can find it! read more
