My friend recommended this shop to me and I decided to go with it. Grateful that I did. I walked in and was greeted immediately by staff and Pokey decided to do my tattoo. Im from out of state and this was my first CA tattoo since living here. Not only was Pokey very perceptive of what I wanted but his tattoo technique was gentle. I have quite a few tattoos and I can easily say he did the best I've ever had. He gave me his own ideas but never made me feel as if it was his decision. 10/10 will continue to go him. I showed him two pictures. He drew what he wanted from that. We didn't even need to adjust. He was kind. Asked how I was periodically. And then we rocked out the rest. He is my official go to in Orange County.

I highly recommend Black Palm Tattoo! Aaron and Joey Cox are first rate, talented tattooists. Today I was privileged to have Rob Barrett (intern) do my art. I am so happy with the results.

I highly recommend this tattoo shop. I've seen Pokey twice now and couldn't be more than stoked on my pieces. He's fast, clean, and very professional. Perfect lines, coloring, and shading. All of the artists at the shop seem super chill and friendly. Check them out if you haven't yet, you won't be disappointed.

This review is for Elexa! (susanxsharp on instagram) I've gotten work done by her before when she was located at another shop and that piece came out amazing. I've been wanting a bondage piece done for a minute now and she was the perfect person that came to mind to execute it and she exceeded my expectations by FARR. I honestly kinda gave her a vague idea of what I wanted and let her have her creative way with it because I knew regardless it was going to come out bomb like the first piece she had done for me. If you're looking to get work done, I definitely recommend her. She's the biggest sweetheart and works so swiftly but her talent is beyond incredible. Definitely going to keep collecting more work from her.

My second tattoo. I wanted a camping scene.

I've gone here twice, and I know if I were to get any more tattoos I would come back here again. I personally got my tattoos done by Pokey Wolf (Paul A) and he was absolutely amazing! I have one other tattoo from another shop and the experience was nowhere near the same. Pokey was very kind, creative, and did a great job with my tattoo! The first time I had a design in mind, and the second time I gave him mostly free reign. Everyone at this parlor is extremely friendly and super talented. The place itself is a very welcoming atmosphere and clean. I can't recommend this parlor enough. Thanks so much to Pokey and everyone there!

Took me forever to find someone to do my tattoo, because I wanted something worth my money. I came across this page and saw @susanxsharp (Instagram). Her work is absolutely amazing and she is super super nice. I was able to book my appointment 2 months prior, and finally got it. I didn't have cash, so she waited for me until I finally found an ATM. I really recommend Elexa/Susan for any portraits or costume tattoo. She has a great style and very kind.

This 66yo tattoo virgin had been considering a tattoo for a couple of years. When I finally decided to pull the trigger and had a general idea of what I wanted. I was given the recommendation of Black Palm Tattoo and Aaron Cox. I stopped in to see Aaron and talk to him about what I had in mind and to schedule an appointment. The staff there was very friendly. Aaron was busy with a customer but took a few minutes to talk with me about what I had in mind for the work I wanted done. He did a quick sketch which was pretty much the idea I had in mind. A few days later I set up an appointment to have it done. Aaron sent me the outline of the design he came up with which was awesome. I arrived for my appointment and we discussed the design and during my drive in I decided to add something to it which was not a problem and Aaron went to work. I was nervous in the beginning but Aaron was very professional and easy to talk with. I am very pleased with the outcome! THANKS AARON!

Andrew hooked it up. Nice work.

I've gotten tattooed by Joey and Andrew. This shop has good vibes for me, so I don't mind driving out there for some ink. I'm hoping to have a piece from each one of them when I'm all said and done. They specialize in traditional work, but that's not all they can do. I'll be back there soon.

After searching around, I came across Joey's Instagram page and saw his exceptional work (@joeycoxtattooer). Many of my friends have gone to him numerous times and have been satisfied with his work. That's when myself and my boyfriend decided to make an appointment with him. He was very professional and booked us on the same day. I can't say I wasn't nervous for my first tattoo but the way he handled everything in such a poised manner made my mind at ease. After my session, Joey gave me thorough care instructions and as soon as I knew it, my tattoo was healed and perfect! If you're looking for an experienced & talented tattoo artist, go see Joey!

Adoption reunion tattoo done by Joey who absolutely killed it! Thanks Joey!

Joey did an awesome job on an adoption reunion tattoo that has a lot of personal significance. Totally happy with his work and will definitely return to him for more!

Ask the Community - Black Palm Tattoo

Is it affordable and how much would it be for two small tattoos?

Hi, the shop minimum is $100. If the two small tattoos are for the same person it may just be the $100. If the two tattoos are for different people it would be $100 for each person. Hope to hear from you soon!

Milo has exceptional knowledge of tattooing, and it really shows in his work--his technique, attention to detail, and overall artistry are on another level. My husband was so impressed with how my tattoo turned out that he ended up getting his own cover-up done by Milo as well--and it came out just as incredible. That alone says a lot about the quality of his work. On top of everything, Milo made the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. You can tell he genuinely cares about his clients and takes pride in what he does. If you're thinking about getting a tattoo--especially a redo or cover-up--I can't recommend Milo enough. I'm giving two stars because truly one of the tattoos I got here was absoloutely amazing, and…read moreeverything I could of dreamed of. But it went south from there. I did need to cancel my original appointment early the morning a day prior due to being ill with GG, and I was informed I would need to place another deposit. I agreed and specifically asked whether that additional deposit would apply toward the tattoo, and I was told that it would. When I arrived for the rescheduled appointment, I was told it did not apply and that this had been communicated via text. After reviewing the messages, I did not see that clarification reflected. I did not argue because I respected her and complied. I also want to note that I was not made aware of any written shop policy regarding deposits in this situation. Based on the wording of the conversation, it came across that the additional deposit was for accountability due to the late cancellation, rather than that the original deposit would no longer count toward the tattoo. It's also worth mentioning that policy isn't anywhere nor was communicated to me. During the session, the artist stopped partway through because she wasn't feeling well, which I completely understand and respect. However, once the tattoo healed (it has now been over a month), I noticed visible shakiness in the linework, inconsistent line weight, and areas of blowout that were not apparent initially. I want to be clear that I genuinely love the tattoo concept itself, my concern is specifically with the execution. I paid a significant amount for the piece, and while I am not seeking a refund, as nice as that'd be, I was disappointed by the technical quality of the finished linework. Especially receiving a tattoo from this artist before and it being absoloutely amazing. So trust was broken there as well. As it healed I didn't really notice at first how poorly done it was. So later, when I reached out to book my next tattoo, I did not receive a response and noticed I was blocked from viewing the artist's stories, which made the lack of communication feel exclusionary and unprofessional. My intention in this review isn't to place blame, but to ask for acknowledgment. I value transparency, especially with permanent work. I paid quite a bit for very very poorly done healed work. It ended up being over $250+.

Chris, the owner, referred me to Spider and gave me his number. I texted him and received a fast response. Spider asked me questions about my tattoo. I really like that he tried to understand the concept of my tattoo even if it was through texting. I sent him the two pictures that I wanted meshed together and that my tattoo concept was, "two things that I love the most: Halloween and Caramel (my dog)." He did a great job combining them. He sent me the rough draft the next day, and I loved it. So we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Tattoo: My tattoo took a little less than three hours, but time flew by because we were talking the whole time. I was really nervous about the pain. Like any tattoo, it was painful, but Spider has a light hand and put my mind at ease. I asked him what he specialized in and he said Japanese style tattoos, portraits, and I can't remember the last one. He's good at what he does, and I highly recommend him and this shop if you're interested in getting a tattoo. Over all experience and tattoo: I would recommend this shop to anybody interested in getting a tattoo. It was clean. Remember that it's quality over quantity and quality is not cheap. Don't skimp out on something permanent. Thank you Chris for referring me to Spider and thank you Spider for such a nice experience.

UPDATE: So a while…read moreago I posted a negative review for this shop as I was extremely convinced that the tattoo I asked for was not what received . ( I will post what I wanted v what I got below). For the record the original tatoo artist was Jason, and for the record if you read this sir I still hope you step on a pile of red ants. Bare foot. Holding a cold refreshing cold beverage which you drop. From pain. F u. So I rant, post on yelp a complaint as Yelp is the real culprit here. I went to this shop based off the recommendation of yelp. Not word of mouth, or any impressive portfolio. Just local SEO and the algorithm deciding what's best in my location. For this, yelp you suck; you're over saturated, and your reviews are phony. Duh. My bad, I forgot it's 2025, stop believing media apps.duh. So eventually owner, Chris, responds stating that that's awful. He feels bad and that he would love a chance to make it right. I figure sure, why wouldn't I want to make the situation correct? Ultimately I go into the shop and tell him specifically the points I didn't agree with about the tattoo, and the points that I said I actually thought were impressive. He had decided overall the entire thing needs to be taken off and that's what he was going to do. Now I don't know this guy, but I've known a lot of people in my life, and my impression off the jump was that he's the type of person to come out the gates hard saying he can fix a problem, or find a solution for something, but he's probably not gonna do it. Give some time and he'll fizzle and not come through on his word. Overall, that's exactly what happened. I let him take the reins, and ultimately he decided that I'm too unappreciative for his offering of fixing my tatoo. The price to laser the tattoo apparently is more expensive than what I paid for the tattoo, and therefore I should be walking in with glitter shooting out my eyes with appreciation. On our first session personally I was not in a financial place to tip him, and I really didn't know if this was the type of situation to tip him. But after that first session, he's entire vibe changed and I really think it was because he did not get tipped. His vibe said, " what's in it for me." Vs "I'm doing right for the sake of right." Which is the type of person I usually do business with; ppl who go extra miles to make a customer happy. After ghosting me, and you know you were, six days no response, he then starts to bring up the word cover- up. As if the amount of sessions needed we were pursuing was ultimately moving towards a cover-up. This is so triggering to me because this is exactly why I flipped my shit the first time. Both these men decided to make decisions about what's going on my body without talking to me or getting my consent. This is not OK. If we were doing a cover-up, then we wouldn't have lasered the entire circumference of my ankle causing so much recovery on my part. We would have just done the minor edges and little things that I had talked about specifically to you like the rosebud and the banana leaf. Straight up Mr., I'm not appreciative because I didn't want more pain, so you are correct Chris, but bottom line if we were choosing a cover-up, this word should have been brought up when we first talked about the tattoo and what we're going to do in the future plan. The shop gets one star because they can't listen and for a woman's body in 2025----when she tells you what she wants and you guys make a decision about her body without talking to her and getting HER CONSENT FOR HER BODY changing the plan this is not OK.
