I visited Black Pearl for the first time between some meetings and am so happy I took a chance on a new cafe instead of my tried and true in the area. It's cozy, cute, welcoming, and has a really unique menu! Firstly, the space: I walked in, looked around and immediately felt like I had just popped into someone's house. I mean, it IS basically a house turned cafe and I love that it still has the homey feel. There are big and small tables and even a couch. I loved that people were there having lunch alone, coffee with friends and even hunkered down with a laptop like myself. The team: So sweet! Let me know some recommendations, let me take my time looking at the menu and brought everything out to me when it was ready. I got an oat milk latte (my usual) and the Pearl sandwich. Both delicious. The coffee was hot and delicious and gave me the caffeine kick I needed. And The Pearl was more like avocado toast with smoked salmon, capers and some kind of sauce drizzled on top. Delicious! And a very generous portion. It made me think I need to absolutely get a jar of capers to add to my usual snacks at home. The rest of the menu looked equally as delicious and intriguing. If you are in the area looking for a casual lunch (think paper plates) you'll like it here. Enjoy!

Black Pearl Coffee is a cute family owned coffee shop, right on Plainsboro Road. There is outdoor seating on the front deck as well as various indoor seating from benches, to tables to hightop. The service was friendly with lots of options for beverages and pastries. We ordered some scones, coffee, and Chai. I was looking forward to the Chai, since they brew it fresh with spices, but I was disappointed since there was a very overpowering spice - too much cinnamon, I think. I'm also very critical of Chai, since I make my own every morning. I'd go again, but probably stick to a coffee based beverage.

Very cool local coffee shop, with a cute neighborhood surrounding area for a morning walk on the weekends. They have a very friendly staff, a great vibe, and the iced caramel latte that my girlfriend got was "Starbucks quality coffee with an added touch of sweetness that's not too overpowering."

Stayed overnight in Princeton and stopped in for breakfast. We're local but having a couples overnight. First off, the staff are amazing. Very friendly and working very hard to get everyone's orders up fast. The coffee, they use Stumptown Coffee Roasters, which is a favorite of mine. Just a standard black coffee was incredible. Exactly how coffee is supposed to taste!!! My wife got a cappuccino which was delicious. For food, I got the meat lovers sandwich and my wife got the vegan delight. Both were just amazing. The inside of the business is super cozy with lots of seating for indoor eating and some outdoor seating too. Great spot! We'll be back again soon!!

I stopped here on a rainy day while I was shopping. The outside of the locations looks like a house and there is plenty of parking and a ramp to go inside. The staff were very friendly when I walked in, there are a few tables inside to sit and enjoy a drink with a snack or even have a quick meeting. I ordered a few premade pastries that included a jalapeño and cheese empanada and a spinach and feta Lattice. I grabbed what looked like a lemon tart to go and a tea for the ride home. The girl at the register was in training and charged me for the incorrect dessert but the lady in the back noticed and quickly explained the error and return my change. The empanada was nice a flaky and the jalapeño had a slight kick not too spicy so I really enjoyed it, they served a salsa on the side which I honestly felt it didn't need. My dad enjoyed the spinach and feta lattice also, the guava tea wasn't sweet but still refreshing. The lemon tart wasn't sweet at all and tasted almost more like gelatin than curd. I would return to try other baked goods with a coffee and skip the dessert.

Good iced oat chai, flavorful and what I wanted. Reasonably priced too. Everyone is friendly and the interior is super cozy. It's like grabbing g coffee or tea at a friend or family members home. Outdoor seating is nice as well. Great place to spend a few hours working, reading, or catching up with friends.

A warm welcome to Plainsboro! Owned by a mother & daughter duo who are Plainsboro locals and Maria (the daughter) is a HSN alum. This place is many things... aside from a small business, it is woman-owned and Latin-owned. I've missed having a local haunt with The Grind long gone and was so happy to see Black Pearl coming. So many reasons to support them already, and I haven't even gotten to the food and drinks yet! Located on Plainsboro Road, it's got its own charm being away from the strip mall. There's outdoor and indoor seating, depending on your mood and size of your party. On offer are breakfast, lunch and dessert options, as well as a variety of hot and cold drinks, even fresh-squeezed juices. Coffees are rotated weekly by region; could be Costa Rican, Colombian or Ethiopian, depending on the week. My group sampled a latte, Americano, Thai iced tea, and fresh-squeezed OJ on our quick visit, and we were all happy. The sweet customer service was a bonus. Next time I'll sit down and have a bite to eat. Already have my eye on Nana's Toast, or the Meat Lovers which features pork roll-- repping NJ!

I cant recommend Black Pearl enough, the coffee is delicious and strong, the pastries delicious and fresh and the staff is always so kind. I love stopping in for lunch for the salmon avocado toast that is always made with fresh ingredients. Highly recommend, the chain coffee shops just don't compare.

Employees were very friendly. I ordered an almond milk latte and a pan de bono, which I haven't had in years. The latte was steamed a bit too hot, but it didn't scad the milk somehow. I really wish they had offered to warm it up because it was just a bit dense and cold from the refrigerator.

Owned by a mother daughter this cafe is a new take on breakfast that Plainsboro needed. I got the pesto egg bites and a hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was brought out with the food and was surprisingly lacking sweetness in the best way so I totally recommend that. The egg bites I got were the pesto now as shown in the photo they were a bit inconsistent but I think the cheese compressed the egg so there could be worse problems they give the option to get toast with it which I declined. The bites were soft and flavorful. Overall 4/5 and I look forward to coming back to try more and wish this place the best of luck, and recommend it to everyone!

Perfect for a quick coffee date or coming to work on something either for work or school! We succeeded in both respects, saving over $20 a week in Java fees and thoroughly enjoying our handiwork as we controlled our filtered water and fresh ingredients throughout the process. But, yesterday I found myself out and about - out of coffee and about to take drastic action to remedy this problem. I looked up as I drove through Cranbury, NJ, and saw a sign for Lyberry Cafe in a newish commercial strip on the south side of town. The Universe provides. I pulled in, parked and walked in to a chill large warehouse-looking space with painted library walls on one end with comfy leatheresque easy chairs and small tables for privacy, and a long row of tables/wooden benches/chairs along running the length of the deep room and partially across from the service area. I had to acknowledge feeling passing strange being in a cafe for the first time in a long while, but I managed to check their menu and order a small Americano to go before taking a seat at the end table closest to the door. Why not sit and relax for a few before returning to my wheels? It wasn't crowded around noon, and the folks seemed like they were settled in for a while. Some working; most chatting. I sipped the strong steaming hot joe. Yep! Definitely strong enough to remove the wearies and retune me up for my afternoon agenda. Still, couldn't help feeling a little out of place. Just spending money for commercial coffee, once so commonplace; but now so strangely wasteful put me in touch with how transitory some habits are. Three average caffeinated stars for the ho-hum of this or any such consumption outpost. I think I have lost my Lyberry card.

The numbers we found online weren't working so we couldn't tell if it was still open but decided to stop in today on a whim. The employees working were SO NICE. The two gentlemen were kind and made our experience here enjoyable. I ordered the veggie panini, my husband ordered the grilled chicken and avocado wrap and my son got the mushroom risotto. It took 40+ mins for our food to come out and they accidentally made my husbands wrap a panini. We couldn't wait any longer so he took the panini. The employee who took our order personally came over to apologize which was so kind and noble. The paninis were good, but the veggie was way too salty to finish. The side salad it came with was delicious - devoured it! The risotto (frozen - they don't have a kitchen) was good for my little one, but low on the flavor scale for me. The mocha latte we had was subpar. Unfortunately this spot was a flop for me food wise. 2 stars for the food, 5 stars for the service... 3.5 stars overall
