Best camping experience in a long time, maybe ever. Staff extremely friendly and helpful (especially Brandon amd his grandfather). Clean facilities. Wood cheaper than at the gas-station (even if you have to buy it on the premesis). Canoe/Kayak rental and ride on the premises. Would highly recommend this place. My spouse and I are originally from the Pacific Northwest and now live in Chicago - so we are always looking for little nooks within 3 hours of the city. This is a little gem of a campground that's pleasantly filled with comforts and modern amenities. The campground itself is very small, but it's quiet, & has a steady body of water. I will be staying here again. I spent the weekend sitting in my hammock and enjoying hearing the water. 5/6 of the cabins face the water just as an fyi, so it's like a private paradise. The town of SoHa is really fun too and a great place to wine, dine, & explore. The cabins are basic and rustic with one plug in to charge your electronics. There is one light in there but it does get dark at night. Bring a nightlight. The queen bunk beds are great and comfortable. I would say more like 2-3 people could comfortably sleep in a cabin due to space and the cabins get hot at night! There's showers, there's toilets, there's cabins- oh my! The showers run on a unique token system. 1 token=$1=3 minutes of hot, private, shower. Tokens are purchased on site. the showers are game changers because they're open 24 hours with cameras outside so the owners monitor who goes in/out and your safety. As a queer person, I felt comfortable & safe at this campground. read more

We stayed in the cabins here and really enjoyed our stay. The campground is scenic with the river right outside your cabin door. The campground is small, but we enjoyed that aspect of it. Our two young kids enjoyed walking the campground every day. The owners are hardworking and the campground was well kept up. This campground is rustic but a great place to camp not too far from town. read more

We started camping here in the summer of 2020 during COVID and quickly fell in love with the campground-- the owners are awesome and work hard to keep it well maintained. It's very private and tucked away-- rarely have we had a run in with inconsiderate guests, and one time the owners even graciously moved us when we had a couple rowdy younguns next site over. There is a kids camp and a race track nearby, so it's not complete silence at night, but the noise isn't intrusive. They have kayaking on site, but we take the 5 minute drive into South Haven for the beaches and restaurants. Highly recommend this awesome little get away, well priced. read more

We have greatly enjoyed getting out of Illinois and coming to this place, just for the weekend & hitting the beach,the last 2 years. Love the little place to get ice cream on the main road too! I had so much trouble communicating with them. They only communicate by email. We wanted to camp there and kayak and my daughter-in-law has asthma so she has Covid concerns. I asked about how crowded they were and about their showers and bathrooms and how large of a group they take kayaking. They finally (after a few attempts to contact them) got a short email back stating only that they recommended that people who had issues should not come there to camp. I wanted to ask other questions for the future but I changed my mind after the curt, cold response. read more

There are zero stars for this business. We spent a lot of money here to rent three cabins, bought wood and ice and paid to take showers. The showers were dirty all three days we were there. There are only two unisex showers. We had to ask for them to be cleaned twice. Showers tokens are $1 for three min. with no refunds if you don't use all the tokens during your stay. That is rip off #1. One shower was scorching hot or ice cold with no in between and very dirty - hair everywhere, even stuck to the wall in a clump. One day there were used condom wrappers in the shower. Another day, at 9:00am we had to wait for an hour to use the shower while someone was having sex in it. My daughter was on the other side taking a shower. The tops are connected so think of how award and gross that was happing right next to your kid showering. People were even knocking on the door, and they didn't care. The owner and the grandson who run it were even standing in front of the shower house talking to the other people waiting in line, while this was happening. I said something to the owners to clean it and all I got was "oh I see how that can be frustrating". They refused to refund our unused shower tokens because we didn't want to continue a shower next to that. Scam #2 the wood is so dry it will burn in a min., so you have to go buy more. Scam #3 they only sell small bags of ice, so you have to keep going back to get more. Save you money and get ice and wood somewhere else. Save your money and go elsewhere unless you don't care that people are having sex next to your kid in the dirty showers. When we asked for a refund on the tokens before leaving, he smirked and said he can't control other people. I understand that but you were right outside the shower while that was happing beside my daughter, and you refused to refund tokens. I didn't ask for a refund on the stay but due to the entire experience, I am now. When the owners did reach back out to me, I got excuses, no solutions, no refund on anything. Terrible business practices. They honestly don't care about the customer. Their response to a different customers complaint and review we read online was "you can choose somewhere else to stay". I mean wow, what a way to run a business where your customers are the ones feeding you and paying your bills! read more

This was one of the nicest campground we have ever been too. Not only were the owners helpful and so kind, their grandson who works there as well was incredibly helpful as well. They keep the grounds very nice, the bathrooms clean and you are close to downtown as well as some fun restaurants !! We will be back! read more

Perfect little gate away! At first at arriving I was a little skeptical but as I got to talk to the owner and drive up to my cabin I got to appreciate the nature and all its beautiful land. Our cabin was right on the river perfect to wake up and fish or relax and start a fire. This was me and my girlfriends first trip to south haven. There was lots of great bars and food to try. I would like to come back to this same spot before summer ends I really enjoyed the sites and beaches. The owners and staff working are very friendly. Showers are nice just not hot water mostly warm. The bathrooms are a little rustic no sink to wash hands (like a small outhouse basically) It's fine and didn't bother me because it's such a beautiful campground and town you really enjoy the nature. Caution before taking the kayaks out on the black river make sure you check if it's durable me and my girlfriend had to turn back half way due to all the shrubs and fallen trees blocking us it would have been a beautiful experience besides that but somehow we make the most of it. I will return here because I really enjoyed the view and setting of our cabin. read more

I really enjoyed my time here. It's under new ownership and the new owners are great! They worked with me to accommodate my reservations via email, were super kind and polite, and when I arrived, the handyman met me there to orient me and drop off firewood right at our site. The outhouses have flushable toilets and are tiled! If you want super privacy, there isn't much unless the campground is quiet. There aren't a lot of trees between the grounds, but it's great if you want to group camp or can get a site away from others. It's right on the river and very close to downtown South Haven. We enjoyed our stay and would for sure go back. read more

Anyone needing to find a beautiful, clean, good campground, this is your answer! The area is SO pretty, and they are currently rebuilding, so it's only going to get better! Nice, big lots for tents or campers, the bathrooms are clean and have actual flushing toilets. Their cabins are cute, they have working electric everywhere. And it's right on the river, good place to kayak, which they have rentals. Last, the owners are super nice and very considerate! We will definitely be return campers! read more

tent Camped here for 4th of July weekend. Pretty nice campground, I really liked that our site was right on the river. The campground does not have showers, but other than that I really like it. I was able to swing by dunhams sports and pick up a bag solar shower and it worked well. The owners of the campground are friendly and helpful and even delivered our fire wood to the site. I did think the site was a little pricey at $30 per night, but fire wood was reasonably priced, and I did need a site last minute on the holiday weekend. read more

The campground is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, clean, and orderly. The owners work very hard to give everyone an excellent experience, and the setting could not be more perfect. The local hikes are outstanding, and the kayaking cannot be topped -- it is just a stunning river. We even drove a short bit to North Beach, where we spent a full day, and swung by an excellent brewery just down the road. Highly recommend! read more
