Our server was Amber and she was great!! She was very polite, went over our menu and ensure our drinks were full without us asking! Major plus when you have a server who keeps an eye on you. My husband and I had the our steaks cooked as we came to treat ourselves and we had cooked at home all week. LOL. I ordered chicken tortilla soup, fillet and green beans recommended per server. My husband got the sirloin and lamb chop combo, clam chowder and sweet potato. We both enjoyed our soups tremendously. Tortilla soup had a nice flavor to it had just the right amount spice to it and balance amount of ingredients. I'm not a fan of clam chowder but I tried my husband's and it was really good. I would love to try the lobster bisque but it only comes in the monster serving size and I don't believe I could eat all of that. Wish they would serve a smaller size of it. Our steaks were excellent. Cooked as we ordered and very tender! It came with the house butter. I think it was called casino. Don't quote me. We actually did not really care for it. To us it actually took away the flavor of the steak. I couldn't pinpoint the additional spice in the butter but I didn't really care for it but everyone else around us were making comments on how much they liked it. So you need to make your own opinion. We did like the steak sauce. I'm not a steak sauce person. I am a purest when it comes to eating a steak to not use anything on it no sauce, butter or ketchup etc. however I do would dip a bite or two in their steak sauce. It was good. We had a decent mixed review meal at Black Rock. We started with the crab-stuffed mushrooms and a cup of lobster bisque, and that was an awesome way to kick things off right off the bat The mahi fish and chips were a bit on the frail side and could have been larger but they were crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. I actually preferred the coconut shrimp over the mahi. Crunchy and cooked just right to includesome sweet marmalade on the side. My wife went with the shrimp tacos that she said was tangy and fresh, definitely easy to eat The only small letdown was the lamb chops and lobster. The lamb was so so due to being only luke earm, but the lobster came out a little cold, which was kind of a bummer Overall though, lots of good food, good variety, and will possibly return to try other options, just hoping for warmer lobster next time. An excellent experience for our group of seven friends. The menu was extensive, definitely something for everyone including vegetarians and gluten free. I had the best Impossible burger I've ever had, it was cooked in their BBQ sauce and was absolutely delicious. My baked potato was huge, and perfectly baked. Several people in my group ordered steaks and they were all very pleased. For dessert we shared a Volcano, this had to be seen to be appreciated. Complete with a sparkler on top, it is an impressive presentation. It was very tasty too, the brownie was warm and tasty underneath the ice cream. Was in Dayton for a dance competition and decided to try Black Rock. We had never heard of it but decided to give it a try. Went in around 5:15 and sat at the bar. Anna was very friendly and helped us right away. After greeting us she asked if we had ever been to the restaurant before. We said no and she proceeded to tell us about their signature steaks that are served on a 700 degree stone and you cook them yourselves!!! Sounded cool! As soon as my food arrived to the table, I regretted my decision to return. Here's a few tips - Ask specific questions about the side items. I ordered the asparagus as a side item and I received 4 stalks. That's right 4 pieces of asparagus. It looked like there were pieces missing from my plate so I asked my waitress if the order was supposed to come with only 4 pieces of asparagus. To my surprise, she responded with "Yes and I don't know why they do that. I just work here." That was an indicator that she heard this complaint before. Secondly, I love seafood but the lobster bisque was very sweet and fatty. It had an unflattering after taste. Avoid it and order something else. Lastly, the ambiance is okay if you don't mind smelling like smoke for the rest of the night. Truthfully, the smoke didn't bother me because I've been to the restaurant before and I knew what to expect but I could tell a bunch of customers were bothered by the intensity of the smoke in the air. Someone recommended this place and recently while we were in the area, we stopped by for lunch here. As everyone else has mentioned, it smells very very smoky inside. I feel that they can benefit from installing individual vent like how indoor KBBQ grill usually do at each table to address this issue. Other than that, the place is spacious with more TVs than you can count on one hand. Really nice place to take a large group of people. Our server was basically a one-woman army, juggling tables like a pro while also moonlighting as the barkeep. Talk about multitasking! Now, onto the main event: we opted in for the 755° Volcanic Stone to cook our meat ourselves. We kicked things off with the Bubbling Shrimp on a Stone - plump crustaceans swimming in a pool of cajun buttery goodness, sizzling atop the volcanic rock, with delicious crispy garlic bread for dunking. For mains, he went all in with the Tour of Black Rock - a carnivore's dream featuring a 6 oz sirloin, three jumbo shrimps, and a scallop that was smoother than a politician's speech, with sides of green beans and house salad. Meanwhile, I opted for the Steak and Ribs combo, a feast fit for a king (or a very hungry peasant like me). A 6 oz. signature sirloin plus a half slab of their signature ribs. The ribs may have missed the mark on that smoky flavor, but they still packed a punch and juicy. For the complimentary sides I picked their loaded baked potato and clam chowder. The clam chowder was very liquid-y like plain milk instead of the thick texture that I'm used to. The loaded baked potato was large and filling. I overestimated my hunger cause I ended up not being able to eat most of what I ordered, and had to get a doggy bag. Our server gave clear instruction about how she had grilled one side of our sirloin and that all that was left for us to do was to cut the steak into bite size and put them on the hot volcanic stone. She also referred us to the cooking time on the booklet infront of us. Our only complaint was that the steak knives weren't sharp enough, we had a hard time to slice them into bite size. One important thing is that the stone will lose its heat after about 15 minutes or so, when the stone starts to cool down, it makes a lot of difference on how the meat will be cooked. But fear not, a quick word to the wise server and you'll be back in sizzling business with a new stone complete with fresh salt too. I ended up cooking the last few bites of my steak on his new hot rock cause the heat on mine also died down. The sirloin was great, and he liked his shrimps. I tried a bite of his scallop, it was so buttery and melted in your mouth goodness. I'm aware they have good desserts as well, but we were so stuffed that we could barely breathe so we definitely missed out on that. All and all, the volcanic stone itself is worth the experience--a feast for the senses and a surefire way to impress your guests. read more

My overall experience was horrible. I visited this establishment on 7/12/2026 and ordered one of their hot stone specials. As a person who's visited the restaurant in the past I am aware of the concept and process. Once I received my food both sides were lukewarm and my crab legs were still cold. I politely asked the manager for assistance with the cold food that was just delivered to the table. He reheated and sides and brought me fresh crab legs. This is where the real problem occurred. While eating the first crab leg there was 2 pieces of hair on my food. At this point I've had it. Speak to the manager again and he takes the crab legs away as he should. The waiter informs me that the crab legs will be taken off my bill and nothing else. I'm sorry but unacceptable and unsanitary. Also keep in mind I refused to eat any of my food once I found the two pieces of hair. At this point I don't trust anything leaving the kitchen and don't see myself visiting this establishment ever again. I was in the Dayton area for work and I stopped in at Black Rock Bar & Grill on Valentines Day for lunch. From the outside, the building looks huge and it is huge once you step inside. I was greeted and was asked if I wanted a table or if I wanted to sit at the bar. Since it was just me, I took the bar option. I sat down and was given a menu by the bartender. The menu is as massive as the restaurant! While I was looking at the menu choices, a couple more people came and sat at the bar. Like me, they were by themselves. I took a quick look around and noticed that all the people by themselves were at the bar and all the tables/booths had couples. LOL I ordered the Rock Burger and a beer. The restaurant wasn't all that busy so my food was delivered pretty quickly. The Rock Burger is a decent sized beef patty with mozzarella cheese, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion, and rock sauce. I think rock sauce is probably ketchup or a mild BBQ sauce mixed with mayo, and spices. It's pretty basic. The burger was cooked just as I requested and wasn't bad. I wasn't a fan of the fries. They had some kind of coating on them which didn't look great and tasted meh. I can't remember what brand of beer I had, but it was local and an IPA. Overall, I had a decent lunch. My food was hot and relatively tasty. The staff was friendly and helpful. I've read some of reviews where the person was complaining about the cost. I have to say, the cost seems to be in line with most restaurants nowadays. That's the thing. It is costing more to eat out and we either go with it or we just stop going out. Personally, I only go out during the week, while I am out of town for work. Most of the time I stay home and cook for myself on weekends, unless I have plans with someone. I surprised my wife by taking her here for her birthday. I called earlier in the day as the site suggests obtaining priority seating. When I called, they basically stated that the priority seating request isn't a reservation, but it does cut down your waiting time. Our server brought us some Casino butter to cook with along with the Black Rock sauce. The cooking process was fairly easy, but I would ignore the cook times on the menu. My wife and I both cooked our medallions much longer than the suggested times. But that could've been due to how the medallions were cut. The asparagus was delicious, seasoned to perfection, and full of flavor. It's probably the best aspargus I have ever had. The mashed potatoes were just okay. My wife got loaded mash and hers were better. The bubbling shrimp was the star of the show for me. Whatever sauce they used to serve them in was amazing. I found myself pouring that into my mashed potatoes, and I even dipped some of my medallions into it. The Black Rock sauce is similar to Yum Yum sauce, and it was very tasty. You order your beef and/or seafood and you cook it at the table on a very hot stone. Across from me at another table, I could see a patron placing thin slices of raw beef on this incredibly hot black rock. It smelled good as the meat seared to doneness. I think this would be a good place for a nice date. I didn't have the steak though. I do prefer someone to cook my steak for me at a nice steak house. If I could give a negative rating here, I would! Do NOT go to Black Rock in Beavercreek, Ohio!! Very overpriced, undercooked, and garbage-quality food!! My boyfriend paid $22 EACH for two 9-ounce steaks cooked MEDIUM WELL (This is important to remember!). I ordered mine with a baked sweet potato and his with fries. If it was any decent of meat or cooked well, it's a reasonable price. But it was NOT AT ALL... It was NOT edible! First, I understand this place gives you hot rocks as an optional cook-it-yourself dinner, but we felt uncomfortable. BIG mistake! The restaurant was PACKED the night we went with family for a birthday celebration, so apparently, the kitchen staff automatically assumed all their customers would cook their meats at their tables. I am sorry to burst your bubble, but not everyone feels comfortable with that. With that being said, the kitchen staff rushed our order (probably because we had such a big party, and they wanted to rush it out), and it came out UNDERCOOKED! We understand pink steak is rare, but it was not even rare! There was BLOOD SPEWING out of both of our steaks! That is NOT normal! They also smothered the ENTIRE meal with garlic butter, which was DISGUSTING! And no, they did not let us know if extra seasonings/sauces were topping the meat, so we did not even have the chance to order it on the side. It made my boyfriend's fries VERY soggy, too. The meat was so undercooked and raw that we had to slap both steaks on top of my boyfriend's mother's rock THREE times until it was edible. But by the time we had thrown the steak on the rock, an hour had passed, and the quality just dropped even more. It was also so unbearably HOT in there (heads up to people who have hot flashes frequently) that my boyfriend's cousin had to leave early because she was feeling very nauseous. We will NOT be back. Loaded potato was barely loaded, and had no flavor. Mac and cheese was smooth and creamy. I saw someone mentioned it was bland, but it tastes like cheese to me, so maybe if you think cheese is bland, don't order normal Mac and cheese... The rock concept is cool, because you never have to send a steak back for incorrect cooking. The pretzels are super salty. The cream cheese dip was flavorful but I'm not big on warm cream cheese. The other cheese is just basic nacho cheese. The sauces are interesting. Louisiana sauce has a kick to it, the garlic rub is actually just minced garlic, the butter is seasoned. They were out of the first 3 wines I requested, but I enjoyed the one I ended up with. Overall we had a good time dining here. The experience is unique. We will be back every now and then. read more

When a reservation is made that does not mean you have a reservation necessarily. The food was good. Service was good and we did enjoy ourselves, but only drawback is the reservation part. This place is busy so if you need to make a reservation and we want to do it earlier rather than later because you're still going to wait. read more
