We had a room reserved for an event and the AC was broken and there was a leak in the roof. We had our own bar, so my wife and I walk up to the bar. A girl is washing glasses and looks at us multiple times but says nothing. Then she finishes and just walks away without saying a word. If it was my event, I'd have told everyone to pack it up, because I don't put up with that kind of inexcusable behavior. We walked over to the bar in the main room and they didn't know where she went but said to give them our order. The pineapple whatever was terrible, as was the grape seltzer. Most of our group didn't care for any of their offerings. The food was nothing special and seemed kind of pricey for what you got. We got a pizza and there was an odd funky smell on some of the pepperoni. Everything in this place is self serve, which is odd, and pretty much guarantees little to no tipping, so they just add it onto your bar bill automatically, so watch out for that. I've been in a lot of brewery restaurants and the brewery portion is always immaculate. Theirs looks like your grandpa's basement, with junk all over shelves, stuff just laying around, and just generally dirty and cluttered. We were visiting the area for an event at the Air Force Museum and decided to stop in here for dinner. The grilled wings were absolutely delicious, and the burger and tots were on point! The bartenders are great and very friendly. My husband enjoyed a few of their different beers and I enjoyed some bourbon. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the next day for some lunch, beer, and to watch college football. We ordered a pizza with ham and onion. The crust was crispy and thinner, which we loved. Ok first the beer. I had three different beers. They were excellent. I'm not an IPA drinker so I had a lager, a stout, and a Hef. All very good. Nailing it on the beer. The food was a mixed bag. The brisket in the brisket sandwich was excellent. But maybe serve slices instead of chunks on the sandwich. You need a better bbq sauce, the little cup of store bought doesn't cut it. The baked beans seemed like they were right out of a can, nothing done to them. Add some meat, add some bbq sauce, maybe consider doing a little more. Kind of tasteless. Had the pulled pork street tacos, meat good, but too much sauce, less sauce more chopped veggies. The sauce just buried the taste of the meat. Had the nacho plate for the table with brisket, again buried in a cheap sauce, some mayo thing and something else, ruined what should have been a good, simple dish. Also, the brisket was chopped and obviously reheated, this brisket was dried out. My advice, hire a well trained chef, or get your current one some training....focus on improving the menu preparation, you have the beer, great location, and frankly the layout and decor was darn good. I was here earlier this month for a business meeting. So, there a couple of things. They weren't making beer the day I was there, but it is a functioning brewery. It is a bit on the noisy side and you are your own wait staff. You order at the bar, they give you a buzzer then you go to the window and pick up your food. The food was average. I was very upset with the service I received and thought I should share my experience with others who may follow. I ate at this establishment this past Tuesday. It has a strange serving system where you will place your order at the bar but then pick up your food across the dining area and then when you are done expected to clean your table and then place used dishes and glasses in a plastic tub similar to a fast food establishment. The servers seemed pleasant and when I ordered my food I was going to leave them a tip in their "Tip" jar at the bar. All I had was a $20 bill and when I asked the person behind the bar if she had change she said no but to leave her with the $20 and she would break it for me. I made 3 additional trips to the bar that evening and each time I asked if she had my change and she did not. When I went to pay my final bill I asked her again and she told me she had already given me my change. I told her she had not and she became irritable and began to rudely challenge me by reciting the number & kind of bills remaining in her register. She concluded based on information only she could see that I had received my change and she had given it to me already. I found this younger person to not only be disrespectful and rude, but also very dishonest. It was easier for me to take the high road and not leave her any tip on my credit card charge. I felt very sorry that this person needed to resort to stealing my money but in the end it was only $20 and if she needed it that bad then it was not worth my emotional energy to make a scene. I only hope that if management reviews this entry that they are made aware of this incident and take action to prevent this from happening to other patrons in the future. read more

Another "Dayton Ale Trail" stop. This time we were up near Wright Patterson. The bar was nearly empty when we arrived, but filled quickly as the base let out for the day. When you order your beer, you order your food too. There's no server, but they let you put it all on one tab (or leave it open if you want more beer). As you can see, we ordered the brisket sandwich, mac & cheese, side salad, and a flight of beer. My wife ordered a Cabernet, and was happy with not only the taste, but the "gracious" pour! The food was exceptional. We had to go pick it up when the buzzer went off, but the kitchen staff was happy to help steady the tray and make sure I remembered plasticware and napkins. Overall pretty good place. They had some decent chips and fish, the card was super thick and very flavorful. The homemade pork rinds were delicious, and the Bavarian pretzel had a lot of meat to it. The atmosphere is pretty chill quiet and clean overall. The bar was flowing plenty of wine tap alcohol and beer. And the staff was pretty cool, the only problem I had with it was you kind of did your own thing walked in and picked up your own menu, found your own table, went to the bar to order, and grabbed your own food. Well today was my second chance given to this restaurant. Tis first time several weeks back I order the pulled pork platter and was very disappointed, it was very and crunchy and dry and not cheap. Today I gave them a second chance and i ordered a 12 inch buffalo chicken pizza for 19 dollars. The pizza I received would have made a perfect 5 inch pizza since there was only toppings in the center portion, easily over half the pizza is just crust with some buffalo sauce on the bare crust. Stopped for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Immediate seating was available. We sat at the end of the bar. Tried the Oktoberfest beer and the Dunkel. Both were quite good. Wife had a rum and coke and was enjoying the heavy pour. Tried the poutine fries for an appetizer and solid good. Crisp fries with gravy and a beer cheese and big chunks of poutine. Had the 1/2 lb Beast burger which was a mix of wagu beef, elk, boar and some other stuff. Big burger, lots of condiments. Only thing I would add is bacon strips instead of lil bacon pieces. The staff here are amazing and so helpful. The brewery is pretty big with lots of room. We were here for food but the beer was actually really good. They also made a super good hot toddy. The burger itself was good and I had the slaw. Slaw could have used some seasoning and the bun need to be toasted more. Other than that I did enjoy it. The wings were also marinated in beer, that added an interesting taste. The smoke taste was too strong for her. The french dip wasn't available. They need to make it more available for similar sensitive patrons. The tater tots were decent. The as listed bbq beans tasted like baked beans out of a can, so very disappointing and misleading. The cost for all this was about $45, and you have to order it at the bar, and pick it up in trays at the kitchen pass through, and clean up after yourself. Really? I'd expect table service for that price. This place has the inside/outside open climate now in vogue, so not always comfortable. It is not age friendly, being too big and rambling for seniors as a self help arrangement. The higher step curb out front needs a few curb cuttings to make it more friendly. Had lunch here on a Sunday with a group of four. Pros: Good beer selection, St. Pat's Day specials were still available over a week later (I had the Reuben pizza, and it was great, although with much more crust on the edge than I like), friendly and accommodating staff, delicious cheese curds. Cons: Having to order at the bar, with the traffic pattern sending you there before you sit, with only a few (well-used) paper menus available just inside the door and at the bar.
