I don't live near this East Mesa Black Rock location. But I found myself in this area when I was working out with a friend at the gym next door. We came here afterwards and got a couple of drinks near closing time. Black Rock Coffee has really taken the Valley by storm since opening their first location in Arizona. In fact, this Portland-based coffeeshop has expanded to almost 150 locations in the U.S. in almost twenty years. Black Rock Coffee offers a variety of drink options like drip coffee, mocha, espresso drinks and hot tea. I like that even though they are a big chain now, they still do their best to connect to the local community. Black Rock Coffee Bar usually offers a free drink during grand opening of every location that they open. Black Rock Coffee Bar has both walk-up and drive-thru service. I usually get an Iced Latte, but I sometimes I will grab one of their creations from time-to-time. The Irish Coffee, Mexican Mocha and Caramel Truffle are a few favorites of mine. I wonder why Black Rock doesn't have more stars. I had the Pumpkin Chai Latte, which is their signature chai. It has cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. This chai latte flavor was a balance of sweet and spicy. The milk made the drink creamy. I didn't think the pumpkin undertones was overwhelming. In fact, I might have completely missed it. You can choose to have the drink be hot, iced or blended. I got mine iced. I would get this flavor again. I would like to try it against their basic chai at the same time to compare. I also had their chai with vanilla and lavender cold foam in the past, but having had it not the same day, it's hard to really compare. Quick service. read more

Been here only a couple of times before but the service is always quick and the drinks done right. I got the chai latte with oat milk. They have the usual non-dairy options which is great. The employees are all super friendly without being over the top. Sat outside while the weather was nice and the doors were open. Great way to just catch up. read more

I went in to get flavoring for my sugar-free energy drink from home due to the fact that I can't have energy drinks. I tried letting them know that, but they said I can't order flavoring due to the fact that it's a liability and people have been ordering alcohol so then I went to Dutch Bros and they let me do it. Very upset with the inconsistency of my order not tasting right or not even getting any flavor I asked for in my drink. I've left several times just to notice that there's no flavor added to my drink period. I have a very simple drink order and I'm not sure why there's no flavor being added period. Pulled into the drive-through behind two other vehicles at 6 AM this morning. As I pulled up to order I was told to please give them a second before ordering, no big deal. However a second turned into 5 min of silence. I finally got my order in, then I waited for another 13 min before getting to the window. As I pull up the young girl working is having a conversation with a guest at the counter, she looks over and shouts that she'll be right there to me. The conversation isn't a quiet one, rather it's her expressing her feelings loudly about how someone else didn't show up for work and that she was the only one there. They continue to joke and make light of her situation for a minute. Then she came to the window and proceeded to ask for my reward number and payment. I was billed and then I was handed the wrong drink, a fuel drink when I had ordered HOT coffee. I told her the drink wasn't mine, and the look of pure disgust and overwhelming frustration on her face was her telling me, she was close to the breaking point. She then, not very nicely said " well what did you order" ? I told her and she proceeded to make the drink that I originally ordered but then poured it over ice and stuck it out the window at me. I just took it and left. This young lady that was working had no idea what to do or how to act in her situation, she was expressing all her emotions to customers instead of assessing the situation and working through it. You choose to employee these young kids as their first jobs and clearly don't train them for these situations! What do you expect? I absolutely am a Black Rock Coffee Bar fan. I personally find it to be the best of the coffee shops I have been to. It is unfortunately a little bit out of the way compared to others so I don't have it as often as I would prefer. I was so happy when this location opened as it saves me 3 miles on my trip. The inside of the building has always been clean when I have ventured inside with a very chill atmosphere. I do find the parking lot to be a little overwhelming though as it is a bit tight and always packed (I think due to the accompanying restaurant in the plaza). I feel the service has been consistent each time I have been, never waiting longer than 15 minutes for my drink(s). The coffee flavor is so quality with a beautiful mouth feel. The lemonade also has a great flavor and isn't just sugary water (I always have to order a lavender lemonade when available). I have only tried one food item, the ricotta bacon sandwich and it has always been consistent in quality each time. Love you, Black Rock! read more

Wow! Shocked and enjoyed the clean interior, no inches of dust on the ceiling ductwork, floors that were actually clean and restrooms that were bright and clean with, yes, a changing table! My absolute favorite Black Rock and favorite Coffee place. They do a great job on the drinks, and the he customer service is TOP NOTCH! I have been to this location over 100 times in the last 6 months: so I feel really qualified to submit super positive review! Everyone on their team is professional, genuinely kind and welcoming. Tried this new Black Rock Coffee Bar location. There is still a ton of construction going on in this little shopping area, so there's a lot of trucks, construction workers, etc. which caused the parking lot to be a complete nightmare. Once inside, you could tell it was a brand new black rock. It was super clean inside - spotless! Ordered and waited. Got the drinks within a few minutes and the order was correct. The lid to one of the drinks was somehow defective and kept popping off the entire time I had the drink. Took a sip, the lid popped off. Put the drink down, the lid popped off. Picked up the drink, the lid popped off. The drink was really good, the order was correct, and the coffee bar was very clean. I am deducting one star for the parking lot situation and another star for the defective lid to my drink. read more

Went here this morning was very disappointed. I ordered an iced latte and bagel, my coffee tasted terrible and the cream cheese on my bagel was not spread and just in large clumps. The person at the window seemed frazzled and had to take my payment twice as they didn't do it correct the first time. I totally understand this is a new location and they may still be working out some of the kinks but I have previously had great coffee and service at this location. I consistently experience delays with mobile orders. The app gives an estimated ready time (e.g., placed at 9:12 AM, ready by 9:19 AM), but when I arrive--often well after the promised time--my order hasn't been started. For instance, I arrived at 9:30 AM, only to see them begin preparing my drink at that moment. This has happened every time I've placed a mobile order. The whole point of ordering ahead is to avoid waiting, but instead, I end up waiting longer. If orders can't be prepared on time, what's the point of offering this service? read more

I don't typically go to this location, but today I'm very disappointed. They mentioned they didn't have XL sizes but they could do light ice on large. They didn't mention they would charge us for XL sizes. We ordered 4 drinks, once I paid I got curious cause it didn't make sense how much we spent $$. I thought since it's their inconvenience that they don't have XL cups they would charge for Large size cup nope they charged me the larger size. If your not going to provide larger cups, I don't think it's okay to charge customers for a bigger size! Also I'm pretty sure the fluid amount would not add up. XL are 24 oz! Line was around the building this morning with everyone wanting to try our new coffee spot but the line moved really quickly! They had someone out side helping facilitate orders to keep it moving. I have only been to one once so didn't really know what to try but went with the iced Christmas cookie coffee and it was really great! Seems like they might have a rewards program but it was so busy I didn't ask more maybe a little card or flyer with the info would be helpful. They asked for my number but I haven't registered since we didn't have one close before so I am assuming I need to register but who knows! Can't wait to try more of their coffee drinks. read more

One of the rudest girls was working the window today. Had no idea of what customer service is, and showed no solution to a problem that was easily fixed. Also, if she's going to be working the window she should maybe put some clothes on that cover her stomach and put a bra on. So unprofessional. No wonder this location has such low reviews.
