First time going to Hava Java. I had high hopes as it is not a chain coffee shop and the quality of family-owned shops surpasses corporate companies. However, I was met and left with a bad taste in my mouth. No pun intended. The female employee (short hair/glasses) was not the friendliest person, even after I tried being overly nice. I don't know if she was having a bad day or just hates males in general but not a good representation of a place I was eagerly awaiting to try. I first asked if there was a difference in drinks from what was on the menu and up on the board above. She answered snarky, "if it's up on the board and on the menu it's the same" Mind you, one said latte and the other did not, hence the question. I opted with what I normally get. She took my order and then while looking down, stated, "2% milk okay" I said sure then asked if whole was available. You would've thought I had asked for her to go milk the cow and bring it back. She was very annoyed, so I said 2% is fine. I paid for my coffee then stood and watched her began preparing it. I saw her add one quick pump of syrup so I said, could I maybe have one more pump. Again, you would've thought I was about to suck them dry of all syrup. She seemed annoyed and looked at the register and began to say what I assume was they charge for extra, so I quickly said never mind. All in all I was disappointed with my interaction. Been going here on and off for a few years. A friend of mine at the time introduced me to this place and I gotta say she did so successfully! The cold brews are real good, the vibe inside is real chill and relaxing, and the staff are great, especially today with Stacy. Overall a real nice lady who knows how to take care of people and provides amazing service while doing it! Support a different local coffee shop. These people are so rude, from the girl at the front taking orders to the owner. No customer service or kindness these days. Edit to add- I went in today with my daughter and we have never been to hava java before. I asked the girl if there were any kids drinks. She said there are pre made juices and smoothies. I asked the flavors of the smoothies. She said "Look at the menu." with a blunt tone. I was shocked honestly. There were no other people waiting to order, no line that I was holding up or anything. She just didn't feel like being kind today. Yes, the list is on the menu but is there not a nicer way to let me know that? It was my first time going and it's a big menu. My husband called and asked to speak to a manager nicely multiple times and the lady would not hand the phone over. He never spoke to Timothy. Well she thought she hung up the phone on him and he recorded the entire conversation of a group of people working there talking crap about all the customers that come in. There was men and women talking about all these customers that take too long to order asking questions and about all these people who post bad reviews and how they don't care if they do. Well eventually he just hung up. They called my husband back! Talk about "combative". I wrote my first review on the fourth day Hava Java was in business so I thought I'd update and toss them an extra star. My community really seems to love them. While Starbucks etc. have removed seating and discouraged patrons from lingering, Hava welcomes everyone. I see friends chatting, people working, young and old - you name it. They also have live music and other events. It's an extremely inviting spot. I'm still not crazy about their hot chocolate- lol- but I do speak up in advance and ask them to please add more chocolate to it. A friend of mine bought me a mango smoothie here recently (something I would never order myself) and it was excellent. I think we are lucky to have a Hava Java in this part of town. On my first visit, I would have given Hava Java 5 stars for the friendly staff, great coffee, comfortable workspace, and welcoming sense of community. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, their coffee, and good conversation. Since then, I've visited several more times and tried a few items from the food menu. Every experience has been consistently excellent, and I'd still rate each visit at least 4.5 stars. Met a friend at Hava Java Saturday morning for coffee. It was busy but not crowded and we had a few options open for seating. There were some seasonal offerings that looked fun. I asked the woman behind the register about ingredients and she told me all flavors are syrups (nothing made in house) and when I asked her to check the sugar content on the non-dairy milks, she replied in question, "ALL of them!?" When I'm asked a question like that, I feel like a burden instead of a valued customer. The vibe for me was instantly offputting. I decided to try the seasonal cinnamon roll latte and asked for it half sweet with almond milk. It was really hot when it came out, which is fine, just not typical of other coffee shops and was still superduper sweet. I can't imagine what full sweet would've been like. It's a cute place with a large amount of seating, both indoor and outdoor. I think their staff could use some training. Otherwise, average drinks with average ingredients. read more

We love the vibe and have been going to Hava once a week for months. The food is pretty good, with lots of egg options. Only thing is the coffee seems to have changed in the last couple months. It was never strong or very rich, but it was fine. Now the coffee actually tastes more like tea. I've tried switching it up... latte, cappuccino, sm, med, decaf... doesn't seem to matter, it just doesn't taste like coffee anymore. So odd. Tastes like milky tea. I've been coming to Hava since it opened in the Las Sendas area, thank god we got a coffee shop besides Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts.. It's a great hangout with great barista's.. so I'm bit confused as to some of the comments below, as I have never had an issue with any of them they're always really awesome. The drinks are always great, and the food is very consistently good. The only issue, is that when you get there before 7:00 am, there's only one person there. While it's easy to get a drink, getting food is a different story. Might as well spend some extra time waiting for it .. To be honest, it's not exactly safe for only one employee to be here that early for at least an hour and a half, and for customers is very inconvenient. Might as well go to Starbucks if you're early, It wasn't always like this, that is until the new owner took over. First time visiting here today and I am very impressed with their very tasty coffee (not at all bitter ! Bitter coffees tend to be cheap blends from multiple origins, or otherwise from places where climates/soil not ideal to grow the beans). I'm especially impressed with their very clean and spacious 2 Private bathrooms which I rarely ever see at most cafes. The entire place is spacious as well. They also offer several smoothies (I haven't yet tried but plan to take a couple to go and update here). Lastly I love it that their music is very low volume vs blasting away. This induces ppl to not yack away so loudly to be able to hear one another :) and/or maybe the folks in this town generally talk with low volume I'm here visiting and I definitely plan to come back as many times as I can. read more

This is such a cute place! We went looking for the Salt River horses and wanted a small bite and some coffee after. This had great review so thought we'd stop by. Seating inside and outside. I been coming here to do work and it's always been a nice experience. They have good food, I like the seasonal drinks they offer. But I am not sure if I would 100% recommend it. Because like today the person working the register was a bit rude. They wrote my name wrong and so when my order was ready they were yelling out this name I didn't know they were referring to me. I asked to be sure and they gave me a lot of sass & when I corrected them my name was not the name they wrote. They didn't apologize they just continued to be rude. So, unfortunately I can't say that I always have a great time. I think it depends on who is working. It's too bad their service here didn't move me to leave a good review. This is a cozy, lovey environment coffee shop. The lattes were great and also the avocado toast. They have a good size seating area inside with tables, couches and also an outdoor patio. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and they even offer treats for your furry friend. They also serve lunch and a good variety of beer on tap. I was in the area and remembered seeing this place in the past. I told myself that I would have to stop in and check them out the next time I was in the area. Upon entering, the staff was very friendly and greeted me right away. Inside, there is a very charming, open, and inviting aesthetic. There's plenty of seating with sofas and regular or high-top tables. I stood in line and looked at their menus hanging on the wall behind the register. I ordered a large iced chai tea latte. It was prepared quickly and the woman behind the counter quickly called my name. The chai tea latte tasted good. Very refreshing. If you are hungry, they do offer some breakfast and lunch food items as well. Hava Java has a lot to offer with its ambiance, service, and menu. I ordered politely, but it felt like she was either having a bad day or just not interested in being there. What stood out most was that she never let me know when my drink was ready. I had to figure it out myself, and when I said "thank you," she only gave a quick nod without any warmth. For a $6 cappuccino, the atmosphere felt cold and uninviting. The food is okay, I've had two things from there and they taste like it was made with Costco ingredients. Not bad but not great either. Haven't had the coffee yet because I'm scared from the other things I've tried. The redbull I've tried two already with different flavors off the menu, and it was not very good, compared to Dutch bros I guess I would rather go to Dutch. The service as well wasn't great either which is a bummer, the blonde girl at the counter seemed like she did not want to take orders and was not making eye The service was really awkward. There was no greeting or eye contact, even though no one else was in line, and I eventually had to walk up myself. While I was ordering, the employee stopped mid-sentence to talk to a coworker, which was uncomfortable. I've tried smoothies here before, the peach one was good--but this time I ordered three berry smoothies and they were terrible. They were basically pure ice with no smoothie texture at all, especially disappointing given how expensive they are. They were for my sister and fiancé and they both agreed they were gross and didn't drink them. This place has potential because I know the smoothies can be good when made right, and the set up here is really nice and comfortable, but the inconsistency and poor service really ruined the experience for me.
