First off I want to say I love black rock coffee. They have the rich coffee taste, which is I go there. However, lately the franchise have gotten away from the coffee taste of coffee. I've visited serval locations in Vancouver and Portland area. Coffee should taste like coffee. Not a milkshake. What I order is a Carmel blonde blended with 1-2 extra shots, no whip. You would think it would taste like coffee, nope. It's milky and sweet. I'm a true coffee drinker. Do better black rock. Stop putting so much milk in the coffee and get back to the coffee taste. 12/15/20- I never thought I'd go to a coffee bar specifically for their fruit drinks but Black Rock is always a go-to when I'm home. -Passionfruit Italian soda- My favorite drink from Black Rock! You can also add whipped cream to the Italian sodas but I usually do not. The passionfruit is so refreshing and not overly sweet. It's the best during the summer time but I always get it no matter what season it is. Simple, yet so satisfying! -Blue raspberry rockstar w/ passionfruit- Okay so I know the green drink can be a little jarring. My brother didn't think through the color combination when he was picking the flavors (but it is a nice Christmas green for the holidays haha). I personally thought this drink was a little too sweet for me and the flavor combination was odd, but my brother seemed to like it. -Digital punch card- Register your phone number with them to redeem drink stamps through their online system! 10 stamps = 1 free drink. I got one of my drinks for free today. -Customer service- Baristas were so friendly and cheery! The line was a bit long so someone came out to take our order with an iPad. Great smiles and service! We used to come for the Blue Raspberry Recovery (essentially a beautiful blue raspberry lemonade) but the barista seemed confused when I ordered it this time. I guess they no longer have the recovery on their menu. I've found that while Black Rock's coffee options are good, they are made of way too much sugar. The caramel blondie can be delicious but I only recommend it if you're in the mood for a very sweet drink. I prefer the fruit drinks here more! read more

Black Rock has a special running all of February for $3 coffee or fuel drinks of the day. Tueday's fuel has strawberry raspberry and almond. Last week I ordered it and asked them to hold the almond without issue. Today I was told I'd have to take it with the almond flavor or I'd be charged the regular price. Boyfriend and I use to love blackrock, we have been becoming more and more disappointed in them. We tend to tip and it's annoying to tip at the beginning and get the drinks wrong everytime. I stopped by the Black Rock Coffee on Mill Plain Blvd around 11:20 AM on January 12th. There was one car in front of me at the window. The Barista was at the window talking to her friend who was pulled up to the kiosk window. The Barista talked with her friend for several minutes until she finally looked back and saw my vehicle waiting in line. The Barista finally decided to start working on her friend's beverage. The Barista continued to waste time visiting with her friend instead of trying to get to the next customer. At this time I decided that making money wasn't important to this Barista and left without purchasing a beverage. There are so many other coffee shops to go to to purchase coffee if this stand on Mill Plain doesn't think customer service isn't important. read more

After my experience on 1/10/2017, I sent them a message through Facebook on 1/13 and then copied the same message as a post on their wall 1/17. As of 3/03/2017..I have never received any acknowledgement, apology or response at all. Below us the message I sent, explaining my experience. "I came through your location on Tues 1/10. I bought an Americano which came to $3.25.. I didn't have cash and put it on my MasterCard. The barista asked if I wanted to add a tip. I was a little taken aback to be asked, but told her to round it up to $4. ( obviously a 75 cent tip for one drink). There was no paper receipt given so it wasn't until I reviewed my email from square, I found that I had been charged $7.25..a $4 tip added to a $3.25 coffee. I left a review response on square and hoped that I would get a response. I want to think this is a mistake that will be corrected and not a shady practice that most people let slide. If I could put less then one star I would, but unfortunately I have to put a star to write a review. I made an account just so I could tell the world how pathetic this particular black rock location is. First of all, terrible service, the girl who took my order didn't even relay the whole order to the girl making our drinks - therefore the drink was nothing to standard. We asked for extra caramel which I don't think is too much to ask for, and there was no caramel, not even a slight drizzle - we asked for lite ice and the coffee was more ice then drink.. We asked for an extra shot and it was the weakest tasting coffee I've ever had... When we handed the drinks back and asked for extra caramel (after previously making a point of wanting it in the first place) the girl was a complete jerk about it and said next time she's going to charge us extra?! Uhhh we wanted it in the beginning we would of gladly paid for the price of the drink had they made it correctly. Like how hard is it to make a flippin coffee that's all you have to do it's pretty simple. Stopped here around 8am before a bunch of us went to a crossfit competition in Longview. The place reminded me of a record store more than a coffee shop, which was cool, I'm into it. I got a smoothie and a yogurt/granola cup and my girlfriend got a iced americano. My smoothie was tasty and pretty much perfect if you ask me. I'm not a coffee guy, so I'm glad when there are options besides hot chocolate. The iced americano my girlfriend had and the one a good friend had were pretty bad from the looks on their faces. The girlfriend held onto hers, the friend tossed hers on the way out the door. I won't rate it 1 star based on their opinions, but I will stay with a three because I had to hear about it the entire ride to Longview. read more

I will preface this review by saying this was my first experience at a Black Rock. I typically order hot drip coffee and drink it black. Also, this is a coffee kiosk in a parking lot and has a limited menu (which I did not know). Stopped by for a quick cup of Joe with my co-workers during our lunch break on Wednesday. Ordered the Black Rock Coffee (~$2) with the assumption that it was brewed; however, it ended up being an Americana instead which did not seem like anything out of the ordinary to the barista. She simply explained they don't serve brewed coffee because it's a kiosk and not a walk in storefront. Despite my order being incorrect (my own fault for assuming) the coffee was tasty, had a rich flavor and a good caffeine kick... Just wish I'd ordered a cappuccino if I was going to dilute the delicious coffee with something anyway. I'll definitely be back the next time I need an afternoon pick-me-up, and this time I'll know what to order. read more

Horrible service! This isn't the first time it's happened, but it's the first time I've posted about this. This location use to be great not so much. I've been served by this guy before and he never really pays attention to what you're saying and acts like you're bothering him. In the past he's repeated my drink order and I have to tell no it's hot chocolate not coffee. This time I thought he had it but once again I get a coffee and I have to back for it to get fixed. I've been coming to this location for at least a year and a half, and it used to be my absolute favorite! All the workers were so friendly, always in an upbeat mood and my drink (iced caramel blondie, no whip) was always consistent. For the last oh I'd say 3 months or so, I've noticed new workers, and I've actually had to take my drink back once. I've never ever done that and I hate doing it but my drink was just not even close to my usual. Came in today at 9:00am for a Blackout 16 Oz coffee, it was perfect, not too sweet or too bitter, and just the right hot temperature that it was not piping hot and I couldn't sip it. And with a time crunch to get to work, the employee still got bothered because we honked and proceeded to apologize, but that it was an old friend they had not seen in a long time.
