Five stars, easily. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place before. They are known for their taco flight, which you can mix and max. Their burritos come in similar flavors to the tacos, which are very unique. Their wings are delicious, with "un-ranch" on the side. There are some great spots to sit outside, and the inside is adorable and cozy. Great service, every time. Great selection of drinks. This place is a win.

Black Sheep Burrito & Brews is a solid pick if you're looking for a casual spot in Charleston, WV. I went with the Hot Mess burrito, which was tasty and filling--classic bar food flavors that hit the spot, though nothing super unique. My partner ordered a trio of tacos with different fillings, and each was decent and well-prepared. Overall, the food was good, hearty, and filling, but pretty standard as bar fare goes. The real highlights were the fantastic beer selection and the friendly service, which made us feel right at home! The staff was attentive, and the place has a low-key, welcoming vibe with a hint of sports-bar atmosphere. Charleston is such a cute, small city, and while there aren't tons of food options, Black Sheep came recommended on Reddit, so we decided to give it a try. We were a bit bummed that we couldn't check out some of the more upscale restaurants that open later in the day, but Black Sheep was definitely worth the visit for a relaxed, casual meal!

Weird but very tasty tacos, chips & salsa and beer flights at Black Sheep Burritos and Brews

This is a really good brew pub that serves out of the ordinary burritos and tacos, many with twists provided by Korean, Thai and Middle Eastern food influences. Not something you'd expect in Charleston, WV! I can't compare this place to a traditional Mexican food place based on what we ordered, but just considering it on its own, the food and beer were excellent. The service was also excellent. The decor is typical sports/brew pub. We started with beer flights along with chips and salsa as an appetizer. Among the beers, we were most impressed with their Rainbow Radler, Shot Caller (similar to New Belgium's famous Fat Tire, but in my opinion, actually much better) and their Utter D milk stout. Their Coco Reaper, with Carolina Reaper peppers in it, was unusual to say the least. It was a bit much, but worth a try in a flight. For entrees, we had a selection of weird tacos. My favorite was the roasted beet tacos with feta cheese. My husband loved the schipotle orange pork taco. The portobella taco was also good as were the Korean beef bulgogi taco and the chicken za'atar taco. We love White Duck Tacos where we live in the Asheville, NC area, but this place could definitely give White Duck some real competition in terms of innovative tacos. If we're ever back in Charleston or if they open a place in Asheville, we'd definitely eat here again (and again!).

So the night of the Downtown Charleston Christmas Parade, we always have dinner first before marching in the parade and handing out candy to the kids!! The food is delicious and budget-friendly!!! We love the "Flock of Tacos" with flavors from all over the world, plus the homemade guacamole and chips! Great friendly service! GM Kevin Madison and his crew ROcK!!!

We stopped in for a quick lunch-we've visited another location while driving through and enjoyed the food. This is a downtown spot so parking is on the street. We were immediately greeted and served. We ordered the trio of queso, guac, and pico. The portion of chips was generous! Also ordered the steak burrito with Korean noodles as a side and it was all delicious. Solid spot to visit!

Excellent service from our server, Alex. We came for weekend brunch while passing through town. with a name like black sheep burrito, you'd expect at least one burrito on the menu. but no burritos for us that day unfortunately. it turned out ok because they had the next best thing for my son...quesadillas. I ordered the huevos rancheros with chicken and over easy eggs. it was uniquely prepared and had some heat. don't get it if you can't handle the heat. Sour cream helped to cool things down. I still recommend to give them a try but don't expect burritos during weekend brunch until 3.

Get the steak tacos!!! We came for Lunch and the food came quick and was good! We got the fish and steak tacos & wish we would've gotten all steak because it was sooo good and soft

    Thai shrimp taco, pork taco

We eat here regularly. Almost always get 2-3 tacos (love the thai shrimp, chorizo, korean bbq, baja) and sometimes get their house salad (which is quite good) and one taco or fries. We never get the burritos because they're just too big. Of course they have a great beer selection, but if you can pry yourself away from beer, I've found all their cocktails to be excellent! They use that great nugget ice. Their house rock, the spicy pineapple, and the mexican mule are excellent and better priced than most restaurants. As much as I love this place, it's in need of a refresh inside. The other locations with the same owners are much cooler and updated compared to the Charleston Black Sheep. It also seems like there is very little promotion, never have live music or events, etc. Seems like management is complacent, but the other nearby restaurants are trying harder.

Black Sheep has a fun, casual atmosphere with great service. The menu is eclectic, offering with a variety of Mexican, Asian, American fusion tacos and burritos. Unfortunately, the execution does not live up to the concept. The ahi tuna taco were fine, but not the best. Similar with the Thai shrimp. What saved our meal was the chicken wings--we ordered the Siracha-honey glaze and were blown away. First off, the wings were HUGE, with crisp, light fry on the outside and were juicy and flavorful on the inside. The wings are served with a maple-ranch which was great. Again, not the best Mexican food we've had (there are definitely better tacos in Charleston), but an interesting concept if "fusion" cuisine is your thing. 4/5 stars.

The General Tso burrito bowl was super dry and could have used a few more ingredients.

We were passing thru Charleston, wanted a place we could walk to from our hotel. Great place- We…read moresplit a small classic pizza, and a simple salad. Food and service were excellent. The pizza toppings and sauce were flavorful, the crust had just enough crispness and chewy bite to it. Salad was very fresh and crisp. Gorgonzola dressing flavorful but not over-powering. Had a Headhunter IPA recommended by our server was great. Great meal. Excellent service. Only suggestion I'd have is to put up a more visible sign. Walked by it once and on way back to hotel asked some peole on sidewalk where it was and they pointed across the street. Fun atmosphere.

My boyfriend and I were passing through Charleston, WV during our roadtrip and looking for dinner…read moreduring the work week. I wanted to try something new and interesting and through my Yelp research I found this spot. It's located in downtown with metered street parking free Monday-Saturday nights after 6pm and all of Sunday. Luckily, we were able to find a spot easily. Inside was modern and relatively clean. We had to wait a little bit to be seated as they were pretty busy; however, this place had a decent amount of seating and space. Service was good overall, but it wasn't as consistent as I would've liked for actions such as water refills, asking for extra napkins, etc. This was partly because they were very busy that night. They have a variety of food options - apps, salads, sandwiches, pies (pizzas), and dessert. We ended up ordering a large pizza (thin crust) to split - half Thai and half Chicken Gouda. Both were yummy although the crust was a tad burnt - nothing bad to the extent that taking bites were an effort. Overall, I preferred the Thai since I've never come across a Thai style pizza and I could really taste the curry sauce. The only downside of the Thai was that the shrimp were slightly overcooked, which could be potentially explained by us ordering a pizza split in two styles with them cooking the entire pizza evenly versus what is needed for each ingredient. We finished the entire pizza between the two of us, but I could see someone having some leftovers. If possible, they might want to do some minor pest management. The entire time of our visit a fruit fly or gnat was hovering around us and the food. We tried to catch it and protect the food, only for it to ultimately take a permanent dip in my water. My overall assessment was that it was a good place to try in the city. It's not something I would crave, but I wouldn't mind coming back again if I was in the area.
