Decided to drop in at the encouragement of a friend and I am so glad I did! I don't know that I would have ever thought to go just because it's kinda outta the way. But aren't most of the best places like that?! I ordered the special and was blown away. Fresh, homemade and delicious. Incredible enchilada sauce! My partner had the "Samsquanch" (TPB!) sandwich and the steak was tender and moist. I took a bite and it was epic! Their ranch dip for my onion rings was dee-lit-chusss!! We always enjoy coming to BSC&C. The food is fresh and appealing, there are drinks available, the staff is friendly and accommodating (even when busy) and the meals are right-sized and reasonably priced. My wife is a cinnamon roll fanatic and says theirs is "right up there, at the top" of her favs - plus we learned, it's even vegan acceptable, wow! A quirky little place with house plants galore located a step and a half off the beaten path. Came here on a whim for breakfast and it is now checkmarked in my list of favorites. Loved so much about the whole place! It's situated in a small strip of shops, but don't let that fool you. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & looked through the menu which had the right amount of choices. Hubby ordered the Reuben & fries- both were a hit. He especially liked that the sauerkraut on the Reuben was griddled along with the corned beef & said that made all the difference! I had the pulled pork special along with their cilantro coleslaw. Other than thinking the coleslaw could use more pepper (just a preference) which was an easy fix as they've got salt & pepper on the table. The server was terrific & the decor really fun as well. I ordered lunch here to go on a busy day. Service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. They were doing distanced dine in service as well as take out. I decided on the Benny's Reuben. I was offered a glass of water, and checked in with twice while I waited. Good customer service is a priority here. My order was ready quickly, in about 10 minutes. This was one of the best Reubens I've ever had. The corned beef was lusciously moist and full of flavor. The sauerkraut was tangy and the cheese perfectly melted and tasty. The bread had a nice rye taste and the house-made 1000 island dressing was amazing. I appreciated that all the components were present in just the right amount so that no one ingredient dominated, and each individual flavor could still be denoted. These gals were super accommodating to the short amount of time we had. We spent a total time of ~35 min. Food was awesome and quick. Waitress was super, very personable and easy to work with. I spotted a steak salad that it's no longer featured on the menu but the chef was up to the challenge and accommodated my request. That's what kind of place this is. I think it was a Steelio salad. Complete with avocado, steak was cooked just right and no iceberg lettuce. The Bacon cheeseburger had plenty of sauce, French fried onions and lettuce ribbons. Both were very good and reasonable. My family loves Black Sheep! From their Bucky Burritos loaded with brisket to their side salads with some of the tastiest ranch dressing we've ever had, we all love Black Sheep. The restaurant has weekly specials which are always delicious, and a selection of baked goodies at the counter. A couple of weeks ago we tried their peach-strawberry muffins, and they were simply delightful. The wait times for takeout tend to be pretty quick, at about 10-15 minutes on average, and the service is great when dining in. I've heard they have a delivery option and a catering option as well but I've never used those services. read more

Going through Salem, we were surprised to see a place so highly rated- and we had to try it. I have to admit, first looks were not appealing- it's located in a strip of stores in a somewhat industrial area. But when we walked in, the place was full- always a good sign. And we were greeted quickly and told (accurately) about the wait. So we chose to stick it out and we're rewarded with an excellent meal. The menu is a collection of eclectic breakfast and lunch favorites. While the variety was concerning, all of our food arrived, freshly prepared, within minutes from ordering it. The brisket chili side was worth the price of the meal by itself. But everything was prepared with fresh ingredients and was top-notch. The service was excellent and friendly. And apparently someone is a D&D fan- there were menu items named after Gygax and a beholder. And, uh, the eclectic decor matched that... not that there's anything wrong with that! When: Sat May 18th, 2019; Party of 2 Adults, 1:30 pm This little Cafe, with seating for around 30 guests, is located in an Industrial Strip Mall on McGilchrist St, just west of the Salem Airport. On this early Saturday afternoon, there were lots of parking, because the other businesses were closed. With the empty parking lot, my wife & I were a little hesitant in going in, but the OPEN sign was lit and we went in...And we're sure glad we did. We were greeted with a friendly smile by our server and we were seated promptly with our drink order taken. It appears they have a Full Bar, that serves Beer on Tap and other Adult beverages in bottles. The menu (see pics below), has a good assortment of dishes and is not too large, that you need an extra 10 minutes just going through the menu...TIP: The Black Sheep Cafe serves Breakfast all day...so satisfy that Bacon & Eggs craving at 3:30 pm. On this occasion my wife ordered a BLT Sandwich (see pic below), that seemed to have enough Bacon for two sandwiches...I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Sweet Potato Fries. The burger was perfect with the 1000 Island Dressing. However, in my opinion, the "star" for this late lunch meal was dessert...My wife & I shared this Hazelnut Cake, that was absolutely delicious. The light creamy frosting was a perfect compliment to the cake, without being too sweet or over-bearing.
