I had a great visit to Bentley's. It's located in Downtown Salem, inside of the Grand Hotel, which is connected to the Salem Convention Center. I was originally going to sit in the dining room and pay full price for what I wanted, but my dining partner suggested Happy Hour. That was the best move we could have made. All of the food was priced at $10. Some of the portions were slightly smaller than the full dinner sized portions. Dulce was our server. She was very nice, but there was a period of time where I wondered when she was coming back. Other than that, she was perfect. I ordered the Happy Hour Bentley's Mac and Cheese, the Bentley's House Salad and the Pork Belly tacos. I enjoyed all three entree's. The Mac and cheese was really good. The bacon dust was small bits of bacon, which I liked. I loved the flavor of the pork belly tacos. I felt the tortillas could have been warmed more so they would have been more pliable and less firm. The house salad was delish as well. The restaurant is set up nicely. I loved the fire pit. The lighting is perfect and the other staff I encountered were very nice and accommodating.. I had a 5pm reservation on a Tuesday and when we walked in, let's just say I didn't need a reservation. However, the restaurant started to fill in as we were leaving. read more

Mother's Day Brunch - May 2026 ' Party of 2 Adults. Perfect setting for adult Brunch without the long lines and craziness. We were seated promptly by the Manager on duty in a cozy booth table. Service was friendly and cordial. I really love the ambiance of the Bentley in the Grand Hotel Salem. The high ceilings make it a very spacious feel without feeling crowded. My wife loved her custard like French Toast and I absolutely devoured my Chicken Fried Chicken with Chorizo gravy. The highlight of the Brunch was our Baked Brie appetizer. We stopped by here the night before Valentines for two reasons, we were staying at the hotel and when we're seeing a show near by. My partner ordered the Pork shank Osso Buco with polenta and it was super flavorful. I ordered the braised mushroom beef with gnocchi. The flavors were balanced and the meat didn't need a knife to come apart. I also got a wedge salad. I would pass on that. My partner got the beet salad and apples and loved it. We went to Bentley's for our 50th wedding anniversary. They tried to make it special but the waiter didn't give us good service. He didn't check on us enough, didn't offer more drinks, we had to ask. The tables on the website showed table cloths or mattes. There was only a glass table top. The food was very good but that's it. read more

Bentley's Grill is located within a beautiful hotel and the interior delivers a very appealing vibe: the indoor fireplace, classy bar, and dim lighting make it feel like a truly upscale and cozy spot we wanted to love. The service, too, was pleasant, as our server was nice and attentive once we were seated. However, the experience started awkwardly at the host stand. Approaching to check in just nine minutes before our reservation (a reasonable arrival time), the host couldn't find our name and then dismissively said, "oh, it's because you're so early." This initial encounter felt...odd. The appetizers set a decent standard. We had the Mac n Cheese and brussel sprouts, which were delightful. We browsed the menu anticipating the entrees to keep par. More critically, the entrees were likely the worst food our family had during their entire visit to Salem. Three people at our table ordered the linguini, and it was completely devoid of flavor, just some oil, lacking any hint of citrus or a proper pasta sauce. Our guests were genuinely disappointed. My braised short rib was also problematic; it was overly salted, and the accompanying gnocchi was unnecessarily dense. It was impossible to tell if it was simply undercooked or overcooked, but either way, it was a significant flaw. While the beautiful aesthetic and kind server provide a decent foundation, the poor quality and execution of multiple main dishes indicate serious issues in the kitchen that paved the way for a difficult culinary experience. read more

I met a friend for happy hour. The portion sizes for the price were great nice pours of the wine. We shared a few appetizers the house salad, truffle puffs, and flautas. The chicken in the flautas was plentiful and the two sauces we're really flavorful. I just wish there would've been a little bit more sauce for dipping the flautas into. We went 1/17/26 for happy hour and the whole experience was just fantastic. I'm going to start with the one thing that I did not like and that one being the Flautas. It was my first time trying Flautas so that may just be how they are supposed to taste but they tasted dry and bland maybe it just needed some sort of dipping sauce. Now onto the great things. The service was impeccable, our waiter was great at timing our order so that there wasn't a huge lag or a pile of food at once and he was amazing at recommending what drinks I may like to try. All in all we tried the seafood chowder, the house and Cesar salads, Brussel sprouts, seared olives, shaved truffle, Flautas and the crème brûlée for dessert. I think my favorite was the truffle puffs honestly and if I had to say one negative thing, I wish the portions were a bit bigger but with everything being 10$ during happy hour, I can't complain too much. All in all, if you want a fine dining experience without breaking the bank too much, I'd really recommend coming here P.P.S I recommend going to their website because their menu is vastly different than what is shown on Yelp read more

This was delicious. I stayed at the hotel for a convention and made my dinner out of apps in the bar. Service was quick and friendly. The shrimp and grits was delicious and the truffle puff complemented it nicely. This is definitely something I would do again. My only quibble is that it was hard to tell what was in the happy hour special "small plates." It turns out that there was a separate little paper menu for happy hour that I didn't have. The appetizer was served completely wrong in a mini cast iron skillet. At a nicer restaurant I expected the fries to actually be cooked all the way, they were limp, greasy, and a little cold. We didn't eat it and the server eventually took it away and never asked why. A great appetizer is an opportunity to set a good impression. The dinner entrees were just ok. The place has great ambiance. I just wish the food was any good or the staff attentive in any way. I won't be going back. Food: Everything we had was pretty good, not gonna lie about that. It's kind of odd, I felt, that such a fancy place serves poutine? But it was still good because they used those thin fries. Salmon was perfectly cooked and served over a bed of (I think?) some kind of seasoned black beans. They paired very well together, but... it was a little small. I know salmon costs about 9-12$ a pound so... do the math. Service: Our server was great, no complaints. Didn't do the typical "check up every 5 minutes" that I like. However, I do feel she could have up-sold us a bit more, like giving suggestions on what to have with the dinner. Other than that, it was great. Atmosphere: The place is in the lobby of the Grand Hotel in downtown Salem. It's pretty nice inside, great for date night. It's cozy by the fire too. Price: It's a little bit expensive for my tastes. It was good and I felt like the food was very unique, from the flautas to the poutine, my salmon and everyone else said their food was good too, but it's just pricy because it's a nice place. An App for 2, entree, drinks and dessert is going to run you 100$ easy. Overall: It's a nice place, go for the ambiance and the experience. Not sure I would go back just because the food wasn't incredible or anything. I grill salmon at home and I usually compare it when I go out to a place like Bentleys and try theirs. We have eaten at Bentley's many times in 2025 and every dinner experience is wonderful. Our waiter Sterling was up to his name and very professional all night. The food was exceptional from the appetizers-pork belly tacos, main course-prime rib, and dessert-flourless chocolate cake. Ambience was very comfortable and fancy with a lot of wood trim. We got to sit by the fireplace which creates a cozy feeling. Everyone loved what they selected, great flavors, fresh ingredients and Munson said pizzeta crust was phenomenal! Bentley's Grill is a nice restaurant with a fire pit in the middle of dining room that is reminiscent of an English pub with much woodwork. We were seated promptly and the server was polite and attentive. Unfortunately, the food did not match the ambiance. For an appetizer my wife had the Fried Brussel Sprouts ($12) which were quite good, I had the French Onion soup ($10), which while tasty was not outstanding. I tried the Fettucine Alfredo with chicken and my wife had the porkchop. The Fettucine Alfredo was average, certainly not worth the price of $32. The pork chop was about 1 1/2 inches thick. While it had good flavor, it was very dry, probably due to overcooking it due to the thickness. Once again, it was not worth $33. For dessert we shared two scoops of vanilla ice cream, asking them to substitute the berry compote available on another dessert for the chocolate sauce. Out the door, the bill came to $114 including the tip. While we had a pleasant dinner (anniversary), neither of us thought that we would return as it did not seem like a good value for the money spent. read more

A friend and I went to Bentley's for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was fantastic, but both of us were disappointed by the dress of the clientele - but this is common for the Pacific Northwest. After being seated, we waited for a decent period of time before getting water and then waited longer to be formally greeted. I attribute this to them being short staffed. Our waiter was attentive and informed us that our wait for food could be as long as 40 minutes when we ordered. The quality of the food was good and the portion size was appropriate. Having to pay extra to get bread was irritating. The prices were reasonable. I am willing to go back. read more

My first dining experience at Bentley's was one to savor. I ordered the frenched chicken with grilled carrots and potatoes deliciously prepared with a maison sauce. He was so wonderful always checking in to make sure everyone had what they needed - splitting the bill odd ways - super nice and professional. Valentine's Day dinner was a complete rip off!! totally ridiculous!!! $85.00 a piece for a one shrimp shrimp cocktail appetizer! or one symtuffed. mushroom! an extremely small 1/8 of a head very dry wedge Cesar salad with hardly any dressing with bread powder and bacon powder. a very small nice tenderloin or one short rib. dessert consisted of a one bite cream brûlée or a four bite brownie bite with vanilla icecream.. a drink& beer and tip cost us $240.00... we are so mad at ourselves. had we known the size of the courses there is NO WAY we would have even considered staying.. we were not the only ones unhappy ... it was highway robbery... so disappointed!!!! read more

Called Bentley four times to make reservations for dinner. we have not been there in quite a while because of the food quality and the service. We thought we would give it another try. After attempted phone calls and voice messages somebody from the hotel finally called. we had already made arrangements at another local restaurant. If I'm the owner, General manager, or head hostess, I would make sure my phone is answered during business hours. All of our phone calls were between four and 5 o'clock in the evening, which you would think somebody would answer the phone but you just get a voicemail. We left several messages and never received a return call. If you can't answer your phone, how good is the quality of your food or your service? read more

I decided to not have an entree but instead opt for the numerous small plates afforded here at Bentley's. The scallop and lobster crepe with the garlic cream sauce is perfect. The seared ahi is good, but very small pieces compared to many others. The goat cheese and romesco dip, I could have eaten a vat and not gotten sick of it. Also tried the house salmon which was good, but not a fan favorite. Bentley's is a great place to get a good casual meal as we did, but also for more substantial meals as well. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area for a great meal. Side note, parking can be a bit of a bear. There is the hotel parking lot which is right next door, but street parking can be a real challenge especially during lunch times during the week. read more

It was challenging to find a special occasion restaurant in downtown Salem open on a Sunday evening. This is further complicated by a few limitations on cuisine based on my fellow diners and one of our top choices is currently under renovation. But, we were still excited to celebrate an anniversary at Bentley's Grill. All started out well with an Open Table reservation online and our party was greeted and seated right away. Beautiful glass etchings in the lobby of The Grand Hotel and restaurant entrance lifted our spirits. Sadly, the food and service were only mediocre. Regarding the ambiance, we were seated in one of the main dining areas by the fire pit across from the impressive bar and close to the kitchen. During our meal two servers dropped plates and no mention was made of our special occasion by the server even though it was noted when making the reservation and I also mentioned it to her when we were seated. I'm not expecting any freebies, but an acknowledgement would have been nice. Our group ordered starters (soup or salad) and entrees. Adults all had cocktails. The soup special was French Onion and it was not prepared well. Warm, not hot, and the cheese wasn't melted on the top. For mains, our group ordered a mix of steaks, seafood, and pasta dishes. Perfectly fine, but not memorable. I wouldn't recommend Bentley's Grill for dining, but would return to give Happy Hour at the bar a try. read more
