Great place for a cold pop! Our business is located right down the street so our crew heads their for happy hour on a regular basis. This place is a great "hang out" place. I am a fan of Black Sheep Lodge not only for their drink specials, but also for their food which is quite tasty by bar food standards. This is also a great place to watch a football game, as there is plenty of seating and easily viewable televisions. The outdoor seating is also nice if it gets too crowded inside the bar. I recommend going during a weekday...sometime when it is not too crowded because it is always a pain trying to find a seat when it's packed. Parking isn't so hot either. The service has always been hit or miss. Also, they play music way too loud and have too many tv's. If you don't mind sensory overload try it out. Still a good place for watching sports - especially soccer - with good pub food and beer selection, but the crowd can be...a bit douchey at times. I saw an inebriated guy yak in the hallway in 2011 as he made his way to the bathroom. Staff cleaned up quickly after I told them, but that's not the crowd I want to hang around in the middle of the afternoon. Service is still a highlight here. Parking is a bit rough. Black Sheep is the best watering hole on South Lamar. They have a great beer selection and are constantly bringing in seasonals and special kegs from local and top breweries from around the country. They have specials everyday of the week that makes it attractive for the thrifty pub goer as well. The food is surprisingly great for a bar. The quality is consistent even at the busiest of times which I have to give props to the lovely waitresses and the rest of the staff. They are hard working and have fun doing so. I came here because i know they're pet friendly so i brought my dog after a walk down S. Lamar. First, service was great, waitress took care or me and the pooch, bowl of fresh water for her and ice water for me. Patio was basic but did the job. Lots of biker types hanging out but otherwise fairly empty (middle of the day, after 5 the place gets packed). Food - i'd heard so much about their burgers, ordered one and it was pretty average. Dry patty, too much greens, and a soggy bun. With so many gourmet burger places popping up everywhere and the new quality of burgers diners are becoming accustomed to i expected more from it. The fries were ok but man am i tired of shoestring fries. give me a fry with some substance that i can dunk in some ketchup. BSL gets the 3rd star because of the service and pet friendliness. Food is lacking, will probably go back to drink but will stop in somewhere else for a better burger. Didn't go inside so can't speak to that. I've been passing by this place so thought I'd give it a try. I have to admit I wasn't impressed at all. Their patio, if you can call it a patio, is a bunch of wooden picnic tables, a few umbrellas and gravel on the ground. They were still giving out free beer/margaritas since they dont have their liquor license yet but that will change in few days from what I was told. I had their fried pickles which were VERY salty. My friend had their burger and said it was just ok. They do have pool tables,suffle board and darts but quite honestly I'd much rather go to a true pool hall (slick willies down the street) if I want that kind of entertainment. After being out of town for two weeks, I was dying for some Black Sheep! Not only do they always have my favorite beer on tap (sweet Magic Hat, oh how I love thee), but the food here is always fantastic and they have great drink specials. You have to order the fried jalapenos. They are lightly breaded and always cooked perfectly, leaving just the right amount of spice in your mouth. Daily veggies are also good, especially the curried cauliflower and garlic green beans. Since I live down the street, I probably come here at least once a week and I'm sure I've spent more money on late nights here then I did on my first year of college tuition. The waitstaff is always friendly and the atmosphere is very Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Plus they have shuffleboard so you can't go wrong. A regular stop for me, Black Sheep is always reliable. The best drink item to get if you're a frou-frou drink fan is the Fruitini shaker. $9 may seem steep, but you get a good 2-3 drinks out of it, and it's almost all liquor. My favorite- Cucumber Mint. Food-wise I've rarely been disappointed. Whether you need something fried or fresh they've got you covered. Follow them on Facebook to keep up with their weekly specials. Oftentimes, these are lower cost choices- that are elevated over their pretty typical bar menu. The patio is one of the best places to sit, but it's very popular so be prepared to have to cozy up to some new friends or wait it out. And as others have said, yep parking is a bit of a b*tch. the burgers were so amazing! my cousin and i came here to grab a quick bite we were sat very quickly but then our server totally ignored us the entire evening. we literally had to wave her down to get water refills and napkins. then when we were done with our meal she was no were to be found. oh wait, that's because she was sitting at a booth socializing with her friends!!! we had to get another server to go and get her! i mean c'mon! obviously she didn't want to work that night, but don't ruin it for the patrons. also parking is slim to none. read more

It gets pretty crowded at night but the expansion of the place has definitely helped with that. This is my 5th time here and it was the best so far. Zara, our server, was spectacular. Her bright disposition and smile was the first sign. The fact that she was suddenly slammed just as we sat down, but remembered our complex (and slightly needy) order with no notes and no mistakes was exceptional. She never broke demeanor despite the demands upon her. Everyone else at Black Sheep Lodge was on it and friendly as well. Burger was awesome. Parking seems to be a challenge on busy nights, but spots are always available at the CVS across the street.
