I've heard good things about Gregor's work from a friend of a friend and decided to have him take a look at my situation. To my surprise after he heard my story he was generous enough to fix my pipes for a big discount compared to the last contractor. During my time with Gregor he was very respectful and professional with myself and the tenants. Most importantly he was very clean coming in and cleaned up after himself when he finished the job. It was only until they charged a late due invoice (of double the amount of the quoted work, I might add) and were threatened with warranted legal recourse did they finally complete the job, months after the pipe itself was replaced.

Pricing not transparent nor reasonable: We asked Lohmeyer…read morePlumbing to install a bath faucet and drain fixture for a stand-alone antique-style bath.   The original fixture failed and leaked. The plumber assigned to the job brought a helper to evaluate and quote the work. He also spent some time at the plumbing supply house determining if parts were available to fix the failed fixture. They determined that we would need a new fixture. My wife worked with the supply house and selected and purchased the fixture. Once we had the fixture in hand we received the quote for this installation.  I was dismayed to see the quote for the installation work was $3877.00! When I asked for more detail I was given a verbal summary of the additional materials for the work that seemed to amounted to less than $50. We notified Lohmeyer that we intended to reject their proposal. I contacted another reputable local plumber and received a quote for about  $400 for installation. I accepted the quote, and the work was completed quickly and to my satisfaction. The plumber and his helper spent less than 2 hours to complete the work. We then received a bill for $595 for the service rendered. Note that they charge much more to quote this job than a reputable plumber charged us to complete the job. If you work with Lohmeyer I recommend getting a firm quote before they start the work. Then again, I would not recommend trying to do this as I think it will be a waste of your time. There is a wide spectrum of service experience in the construction industry, but frankly, most of it isn't too good. However, that just makes the great ones stand out all the more. A few years ago, I first engaged SOP in a true "second opinion" situation. The plumber that had actually plumbed my house couldn't resolve an issue that we were having after 3 separate visits to troubleshoot. I called SOP and John resolved the issue in less than an hour. Not only was I impressed with the skill, but also the professional manner in which things were handled, including fully explaining to me his troubleshooting process beforehand and how he resolved the issue afterward. Long story long, I've selected SOP to be my exclusive plumbers from here on out. They are in the midst of replacing and upgrading all of the plumbing in a house that I bought recently. Despite all of the recent challenges in the industry, they have been dependable, flexible and trustworthy. They aren't the cheapest out there, but the value you get is top notch. I have learned to look for partners you can trust when working on your home, not just seeking the low bid. John and team are exemplary for being the kind of partners with whom I want to do business. Our water company would not shut the water off to the pipe that was leaking because it would have impacted our whole street. We called multiple plumbers who all told us that unless the water was turned off, they could not fix the issue and that they would have to excavate our front yard to repair the issue. I was given quotes to repair the issue ranging from 3 to 6 thousand dollars. When I called McDougalle, they sent a crew out to review the situation and within minutes I was told they could fix the issue without the water company turning off the water and without tearing up my whole front yard and at a fraction of the price other companies were quoting me. They did the job quickly, got the problem fixed, and saved me a lot of money. I almost never leave reviews for companies, but felt I had to do it here because they were a real life and money saver!
