We were dreaming of this Inn and Winery when we booked it for three nights on our first trip to Pinot Noir heaven! The Inn is a perfect gem in the valley and the staff, chefs, wine and food were rivaled only by the views. Wine tasting options, Bing cherry picking guide (at my request for a check on my bucket list), recipes happily shared and the best 4th of July view of at least 10 fireworks shows on the mountain. Caveat Emptor: We were very aware of the 30 day cancelation policy. However, due to a family death, we unfortunately had to cancel our visit. We informed management of our situation and they refused to refund our deposit. They insisted that we re-book a future date. We informed management that we would prefer a full refund due to our situation and that other establishments had no such policy and were understanding. However, The Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard still declined our request. I would highly recommend not making a reservation at the Black Walnut Inn & Vineyard unless you are absolutely positive of your arrival regardless of the situation. The management is more focused on short term revenue than their brand. read more

We stayed here last year before the new owners took over. It was really a lot of fun and we had an amazing time. We stayed here this weekend after all the updates from the new owners and management, to say it was magical and amazing is not doing the new Black Walnut Inn justice. From the new beds to the fantastic food, it is a completely new experience. Can't give this a rating that is high enough. We had a lovely time at this beautiful location. My family rented out the whole B&B for a tiny wedding (15 people) and it was wonderful. The views are exceptional in the morning and evening; even got to watch hot air balloons this morning. The breakfast the first day was beautiful and exceptional quality; we ordered from a menu of three choices and it was fresh and perfect. The rooms were spotless, high-end linens, and very nice quality decor. Each room had a basket with a cutting board, cheese knife, etc. Ample parking and great outdoor seating. They were cheerful as we needed to move outdoor chairs to make room for everyone and asked frequently if we needed anything. They were great. The owner's adult children are caterers and did a sit-down dinner for our party that was outstanding! Absolutely top-quality and great presentation. The appetizers were beautiful! Then salad, cold soup, flank-steak, and the best chocolate cake I've ever had. Fantastic!! Here's why it didn't get a 5-star from me: 1) they have a family dog (who is tiny and cute and very well behaved); however, that meant spots of dead grass from urine as well as the very occasional dog dropping in the grass. Also, the dog was in the kitchen one day, which was pretty unprofessional. It wasn't on the counters or licking the food, of course, but still- gross. 2) the breakfast on one day was buffet. Now, it was a very high-end buffet with scones, eggs, meat, granola and fruit, but I dislike a buffet at a B&B. We stay at B&Bs probably 3-4 times per year and this is only the second that I've ever been to which had a buffet; I think it's tacky. Although, again, excellent quality. I would absolutely recommend this to groups who want a private oasis. read more

NEVER make a reservation here. They have the most ridiculous cancellation policy I have ever heard of and they don't bother to tell you when making the reservation. I made a reservation for one night on 12/20/14 for 12/30/14. Both my partner and I came down with a terrible cold and sinus infections and called to cancel on 12/26/14. I found out that if you cancel more than 30 days out you are charged $50. Less than 30 days out you are billed for the entire amount. Not cheap at $290 a night. So my partner and I are will happily go and cough all over the other guests at breakfast. How you can cancel 30 days out when you book less than 30 days out is beyond me! read more

Beautiful inn! Room(wildwood) was very spacious with very comfortable bed and great views. Also very private. Breakfast was delicious and the inn is very conveniently located to all the red hills wineries and dundee. Staff and owners were great and very friendly. Would def stay again. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed here in late December 2013. The place was beautiful and the inn keepers could not be nicer. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the bed was very comfortable. ( Alittle on the soft side, but perfect for me). We had two delicious breakfasts and a bottle of the wine produced on site (which was really good as well!). The view from the inn is spectacular - overlooking the vineyards and valley below. The inn is also like a 5 min drive to Dundee, so plenty of restaurants and vineyards nearby. Couldn't recommend the place more! read more

This place is special. Expensive, yes - but worth it. We just returned from a long weekend at the Black Walnut with another couple, and we simply loved our stay. I think photos of the property, while beautiful, don't even do it justice. First, it's in a secluded location away from the highway (unlike the Allison, which was the other spot we considered for our stay). The Black Walnut sits at the top of a hill, with sweeping views across its own vineyards and the picturesque hills and fields of wine country. On a clear day, you have a stunning view of Mt Hood from the property. The inn itself is warm and intimate. The rooms are impeccably furnished, and made me feel like I was staying at a luxurious retreat in Tuscany. Breakfast each morning was delicious - I especially enjoyed being invited into the kitchen for the home-style breakfast on Sunday. The innkeepers made us feel right at home and quite pampered. We did a wine tour with Access Oregon and couldn't more highly recommend them. I would suggest asking the innkeepers for dinner recommendations - we selected Dundee Bistro on our own, and did not have a good experience. All in all, I recommend the Black Walnut Inn as a perfect place to enjoy Oregon wine country. read more

We had a restful, peaceful stay at this stunning Bed & Breakfast. The owners, Karen and Neal, were helpful and kind. They accommodated our vegan diet for our breakfasts, delighting us with the most delicious meals: homemade chocolate-chip scones, quinoa potatoes, and so much more. Spotlessly clean, distinct decor, and amazing views of the Valley and their vineyard. Can't wait to go back and stay, and bring out-of-town family and friends. This Inn really showcases our Oregon wine country in a luxurious way. Wonderful spot for a day trip for wine tasting too. They have thought of so many details, from the art and decor, to the clean windows and breath-taking views, and much more. And the building itself looks so originally Tuscan, perched solidly on a perfectly sloping hill, complete with gardens and flowing vineyards, that I told my sister we "drove to Italy" for our weekend getaway! Very nice. I highly recommend this for a getaway, either for out-of-state travelers or Portlanders who just want to spend a weekend or night in our wonderful wine country. Our room, the Master Suite, was worth its price, with the balcony and views, huge bathroom with jet tub, and oh-so comfy king bed! read more
