Aesthetically, I found it to be pretty disorganized and messy. Boxes just plopped around on the floor, a pretty rough looking back area, and overall not particularly clean and welcoming. The front doors look like they're barely hanging on by a thread, and the pricing was consistently on the high side, though I have seen worse. Impressive selection for the eclectic / obscure collector, and the employee working there today (it wasn't Matt) was a very friendly fella. Was able to find a few records to pick up, but overall, the place didn't have a particularly good or inviting vibe for me, so I don't foresee myself ever feeling the urge to come back, unfortunately. A HUGE turnoff for me, was how they put most of their records in sealed outer sleeves, so accessing the vinyl to check the condition was, for me, an enormous pain in the a$$. My biggest recommendation to Matt would be to NOT do that. Make the records quick and easy to get to for a closer look, brother!

The owner takes the time to write notes on each record about the quality of the vinyl OR just a quick word on the actual music. You can listen to anything before buying it both on headphones or over the store's sound system if you ask nicely (or maybe that was just for me cuz I'm so special??? :) There's a $5/$6 bin with some fun older stuff. For kids of the 80s like me it's always a trip down memory lane in a store full of vinyl. There are cassette tapes too and some fantastic art adorning the walls. I met one of the owners when I stopped in first thing on a Thursday morning. Super nice guy who loves to talk about music.

A very clean and spacious store that includes mostly vinyl as well as CDs and cassette tapes. They have new vinyl as well as used stuff, and there is a large area where they have bargain records for three bucks. There's also a dedicated area in the shop that has an art gallery. There is a small area in the back with a comfy listening station if you want to try some vinyl out before you buy it. I spoke with the owner Luke and was told that the shop has been in the area since July 2024. They do buy vinyl if you are looking to swap some things out of your collection, and Luke mentioned that the shop can even order vinyl for you if you are looking for something specific. A very hip and cool place to check out when you're strolling in one of the best neighborhoods in Portland. Be sure to check it out!

Musique Plastique and Partly, Partly dot earth, are one and the same store…read more They moved from Glisan when their building was torn down for condos. Oh so Portland. Musique Plastique does some of its own music releases. The music part of the store has a varied collection across US and international labels of vinyl, cassette tapes, and CDs. The store at large has a lot of books with a concentration on liberation politics and Cuba, and some underground manga. They have household goods, ceramics, candles, and scents. You will find fliers to small shows too. They are a good spot for reading, listening, and gift items, well curated and they sometimes have events.
