    Lamb Burger
    Geo N.

This was my second time visiting Blackbird and it's quickly become one of my favorite lunch spots for a sunny day! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very charming and there's an outdoor seating area to the side which is perfect for enjoying the weather.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Keep in mind that this place is mostly self-serve except for when they bring your food out. You order at the front and you bus your own water and utensils. The food: SO good. Both my friend and I got lamb burgers and ohmygosh they were so juicy. The sauce, greens, and bread all worked really well together. It definitely had a strong lamb flavor though which I know can be divisive, but lamb is my personal favorite protein. I loved how thin and crispy the fries were. I also got a lemon lavender spritzer which was very refreshing and subtly sweet. It didn't taste much like lavender but I enjoyed it nonetheless. 10/10 I need to come back asap!

Blackbird completely exceeded our expectations. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated -- from crispy fries to colorful salads and juicy burgers. Every bite hit just right, and the lemonade was the perfect refreshing balance. But what really stood out was the staff, who were truly the heart of the experience. Every single person we interacted with was kind, attentive, and welcoming in a way that felt effortless and sincere. You could tell they genuinely cared -- not just about the food, but about creating a space that felt good to be in. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We had just come from the loud, crowded chaos of Pike Place Market, and stepping into Blackbird's calm, well-run space felt like a breath of fresh air.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One moment that meant a lot to me -- I kept trying to take photos of the little blackbird statues with gold crowns perched up high because they were so cute. One of the staff noticed and brought them down for me to photograph up close, without me even asking. It was such a small, thoughtful gesture that completely made my day. Between the incredible service, the delicious food, and the charming decor, Blackbird has officially earned a permanent spot on my Seattle favorites list. I can't wait to come back.

We come here often for their delicious food. Our daughter likes their pasta bolognese and hubby and I like their oven roasted chicken salad. On our most recent visit, I was very impressed with their seafood fettuccine which was listed as a special. It was the right amount of richness with perfectly cooked seafood.

This is one of the spot I will come back every once a while. It's in the neighborhood of shoreline by Richmond Beach area. Great service and food. Not to mention that the historic Shoreline Fire Station is right next door to it too. I enjoyed my meal, it was tasty and decent amount of portion to fill you up! Don't forget the dessert!

The menu screams "comfort food, but make it fancy," and I respect that energy. I started with the seafood chowder because duh, and it was so creamy it could have solved my childhood trauma. The cocktails? Absolute bangers. I sipped a Mango Mule while my spouse had a non-alcoholic italian soda or something like that - Super tasty but I don't have space in my stomach or memory for non-alchohol substances. The vibe? Equal parts hip and "I walked here from my split-level." It's like if Capitol Hill got tired and moved north for a breather. Bonus points for a killer playlist and for having an outdoor patio even if it was too wet for us to sit at.

Happy hour on a Monday evening. Very pleasant. Not busy. Order at the counter, so minimal service - but that's the new model, right? Things are just too damn expensive for a good restaurant to spend money on service. Sad but true. Signature cocktails were complex and tasty. Burrata appetizer was great. Mushroom quesadilla was phenomenal. We split the blue cheese burger and were super happy. Overall a really great experience...everyone was casual and friendly, not stuffy. The menu is uncomplicated and not...surprising...very good. We paid about $100

I pass Blackbird each time I go to Richmond Beach Library, be it on foot or via car. The people coming and going from the restaurant via vehicle I have found to be considerate when I am crossing their path on the sidewalk and they are arriving/departing. This morning, Monday 22 January 2024, I decided to make Blackbird itself a stop when going to the library to find a new book to read. The parking lot was mostly full, with a few spots open further away from the restaurant. An electric sign in the window clearly communicated it was open. I opened the door to find pastries on display inside the front entrance as well as a friendly and alert counter worker. Looking over the offerings, I was happy to see an item I had spotted in photo(s) on the website of the business, croissants. They were on the larger side and looked texturally light, so I went with two. Payment was straightforward and the worker was careful in packaging the two croissants to go. They did turn out to be textually airy (fluffy) and the interior was moist and buttery. The exterior showed its layering well and was a beautiful golden brown. All around an enjoyable experience.

We first started off with one of the blueberry coffee muffin cakes. It was the perfect amount of sweet, mixed with the blueberry bit (yum). We we ordered mimosas (can't go wrong there), my wife ordered the traditional breakfast with chicken sausage, and I ordered the burrito. In both cases, the potatoes were very soft and tasty and the bread and table raspberry jam from scratch is perfect. Probably one of the best burritos I've ever had for breakfast. We got the Cuban pork hash, ham hash (from the specials menu), corned beef hash, and breakfast burrito. The potatoes were unique because they were neither crispy but they weren't mushy either and very nicely fluffy inside. Also very well seasoned! The eggs were perfectly done and oozy, the hollandaise sauce was light, more so added for extra creaminess. I'm not usually the biggest fan of hollandaise sauce as I find it sometimes too heavy but this was less rich which was nice. The breakfast burrito was tasty, nice amount of filling. I enjoyed the cubes of ham and how it wasn't overly salty. Definitely eat with hot sauce and some black pepper. I think it would get a little mundane if you were to eat the whole thing yourself but it's not bad. The banana bread donut isn't really a donut. More so a banana bread Bundt cake. It was nice, slightly sweet with what tasted like whipped browned butter.

Street parking only, but if you're open to a walk, downtown Edmonds tends to have ample parking around the area. When busy, they do provide a buzzer that has a short range, but opens up the opportunity of walking around slightly. Items can be a bit pricey, but they're also very filling. Large space, lots of chatter, and friendly service. Number Three Combo Club - we wanted waffles this time but also bacon and sausage. This was the variety pack we desired, though wish it came with both sausage and bacon! Opted for the bacon and it was thick, fatty, and delicious. One waffle cut into the four quadrants, ready to soak up syrup. Simple, but a classic. Chunky Monkey Pancakes - goofy perhaps, but another timeless classic combo of chocolate and bananas. Three chocolate chip pancakes, fluffy and ready to absorb the Nutella drizzle. Could have a few more chocolate chips embedded for a more balanced spread, but the chocolate drizzle helps spread flavor. Bananas for the healthy balance of course.

Hot Dogs in Cars, and Managers Named "Robert" : A Hate Story…read more I have been a regular patron of The Rusty Pelican since I moved to Washington, just shy of 5 years ago. I take visiting loved ones and friends here, and I constantly extol the service and food to anyone who needs a recommendation for a breakfast spot in Edmonds. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. The manager, Robert, showed sickening behavior. My partner and I were having breakfast out in front, when we noticed that a fellow patron had left their dog in the car on the sidewalk in front of our table. It was 60 degrees out, and completely sunny. The windows were barely cracked, and the dog was panting and straining its neck towards the venting of the window. We called our waiter over, who was incredibly sympathetic and horrified. He went inside to find the customer. We waited a few minutes longer, and then asked a second server to follow up (they were equally horrified and sympathetic). The second server also did not return. My partner went inside to seek help. It was at this point that they encountered Robert. My partner came out a few minutes later and explained what was happening: he had been in the process of denigrating the employees feelings about the matter, telling them to stop bothering customers and (essentially) quit acting like babies. "This isn't Arizona!" he exclaimed. When my partner asked to speak with him and tell him the situation, he was horrendously rude and confrontational, escalating each polite rebuttal with an agitating escalation of rudeness and denigration. My partner calmly explained that in these conditions, a car's interior temperature can rise to above 80 degrees in well under 30 minutes, not including stifling humidity. These conditions can cause an animal to pass out and die within a similar timeframe. At this point, it had been well over 30 minutes since the patron had parked. During all of this, he refused to even address my partner or look them in the eyes. It was absolutely unacceptable, and ultimately embarrassing for a grown man in a PAID CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED POSITION to treat anyone like that. To be clear: the entire staff were incredible. They came out to check on the dog a few times, and tried their best to confront the owner of the dog, but a certain manager was preventing them. They also apologized profusely, and showed a grace that is exemplary and frequently unseen in today's world. We learned several good lessons today: 1. We should have just called animal control right off the bat. The owner isn't going to learn their lesson without legal intervention, or lethal endings. Thankfully they left after about 40 minutes, and the dog seemed to be conscious. 2. I am never going to eat here again, as long as Robert is employed. He should be left in a hot car out front to teach him some perspective. I wouldn't call animal control for him though. 3. I am going to spend the rest of my days around Edmonds telling anyone who will listen this story. To Robert, if you read this: I hope nothing but bad things happen to you forever, and your behavior is inexcusable. You do not deserve to be employed. To anyone above Robert in a position of management or ownership: fire him. Quickly, and unceremoniously. Do it in front of the kind employees, as a treat. They had a familiar air of exasperation with Robert's behavior, telling me this is normal. And under no circumstances should it ever be. Shame on you Robert.

We got the boys sandwiches (Sausage & Egg Breakfast Sandwich) off the kids brunch menu but lunch was far more chaotic than we had imagined. My only point in sharing this is, if you have picky toddlers who like their staples, especially hooked on pasta - just visit outside the brunch hours. A/C was running high as it was a super humid and hot Saturday. The restaurant is one big open space with large, comfortable booths lining the walls and a selection of tables in the center. THE FOOD: We immediately had warm, thick tortilla chips and house made red salsa on the table. Salsa is on the spicier side, but was absolutely delicious. We had the Cadillac margarita (moderately strong and well mixed), tacos dorado with steak (fried and seasoned perfectly), and corn tacos with birria (melt-in-your-mouth and perfect temp). The bar is its own little mixology section and is very well stocked. SIDE NOTES: We were way too full for dessert, but there were several nice options that all looked and smelled amazing as they passed us. My mom and shared a few plates: the Vinbero club, the spring pea risotto, and the kale Caesar salad. Everything was delicious. The club is packed with thinly sliced chicken breast, crunchy bacon, and fresh tomatoes, greens, and avocado. The contrast between the bite from the aioli on the inside of the sandwich and the sweet tartness of the balsamic drizzle on the outside was fun and unexpected. The kale caesar was very fresh with a great dressing. But for me the star was hands down the pea risotto. Perfectly creamy, vibrant green, and packed with fresh spring flavor. It appears they change up their risotto offering every so often, and it's gone now, but I will dream of that one until it appears again. Our server (maybe the owner?) thoughtfully split our sandwich onto two plates (hence why the photo only shows one half) and added the side of popcorn to both plates. A nice touch. The inside is a little small and dark though well-appointed. Their mini patio outside is crowded and uncomfortable. But they're doing their best with what the space they have.
