I forgot how cute the downtown Edmonds area is! My work group and I decided to have dinner at Charcoal, which was convenient for me since I was working nearby. Staff were attentive and the space is modern with an open kitchen. My group ordered the roasted beets, grilled calamari, and steak lettuce cups. I really enjoyed the roasted beets and the grilled calamari - I would highly recommend ordering those. I wasn't particularly a fan the steak lettuce cups. For dinner I ordered the Picanha. I would happily order that again - great flavor from the fat cap and I actually couldn't even finish it. My group also ordered the duck confit from the fresh sheet, the salmon and the steak salad, which they enjoyed. We also ordered dessert. We had the cheesecake and the sorbet. I'm a fan cheesecake already and Charcoal's cheesecake just added a spin with the carmelized pineapple. I don't live in the area, but I would add Charcoal to my list if I did!

Very mixed feelings about this place, as we had very back and forth experience. Came here with a large group for a special celebration (the manager of our group had called the restaurant in advance and asked for permission for this celebration and permission for things like small decorations at the table, which was all OKed in advance). While the majority of the staff were excellent, there was one front hostess that really went out of her way to be very rude to our group and kept coming over (she was not our waitress who was great). She really spoke down on us in regards to tone, hovered, and was overall very standoffish, hovering and glaring at us (for example, adding different rules - when we all mingled around the guest of honor when he came, she immediately came over and said "Ok, I need you to sit down now to order", saying that we couldn't do certain things e.g. when we had a group photo, there was a flash and she immediately chastised us with "no flash photography" immediately, etc). She eventually left (shift ended?) and we were able to have a more quiet pleasant evening after that without having pressure or feeling like we were problematic (we were trying to be respectful and mindful of other patrons and were overall as considerate as a large corporate group could be and other patrons did not seem to mind - several tables around us even interacted with ours/got the attention of our group to congratulate the guest of honor). We ordered different appetizers and drinks. The bread and burrata were standard, I wasn't a fan of their calamari (which was soft and not very seared, which was unexpected). I tried both the steak (the 12 oz sirloin which was $75 and also got to try the scallops). The majority of the group who tried the steaks (mostly filet mignon's and sirloins) were satisfied. I thought the steak had a nice char flavor (from the charcoal namesake) and the potato that accompanied it was layered and crispy. However, the scallops which I tried (a part of the surf and turf) came out very small and overcooked unfortunately, which was disappointing for a $45 dish. I think the total came out to well over $110 per person before tip and tax from the entrees, appetizers and drinks, which does put things on the slightly pricier side. Foodwise, I would say the steak was tasty (albeit over $70) and the atmosphere of the restaurant was nice, but wasn't a fan of the other dishes. Service was mixed, with it being an overall pleasant experience, but one person can really ruin the atmosphere. Probably would try a different place in the future just due to the inconsistent experience.

Only stopped in for drinks while on a stroll around Main Street. The bartender, Anne, was spectacular and introduced us to a new amaro by creating a cocktail for us. We didn't eat, but the food coming out around us looked great. 10/10 will return to try the grub.

So happy to have an innovative and delicious restaurant in Edmonds! Love this place... definitely the place to go for special occasions.

Delicious anniversary dinner at Charcoal in downtown Edmonds! We were pleasantly surprised to find out it's all day happy hour on Mondays, so started off with a mellow Old Fashioned cocktail. We shared the bone marrow that was very rich yet matched well with pickled radish. For dinner I had the scallops that were seared well and came with lots of veggies, though found the beet puree to be too sweet to match. My wife had the generous portion sized mushroom tagliatelle, and my daughter said her duck confit was one of the best she's tasted. We ended with a dark chocolate torte that was super decadent yet not overfilling. Service was attentive but not overbearing, and I liked the modern decor and the peaks into the next door art gallery, that is nice to enjoy while eating! Definitely will be back for more of the menu!

Perfection, 5 stars all around- service, ambiance, food and cocktails. - the cocktails were perfect, didn't meet one I didn't love (smoke wagon, Harry Callahan , Hemingway 2 , French bishop) - I love starting with a not so sweet, pink drink and the Hemingway 2 was it!! A tad citrus made it refreshing and very pretty . - pickled vegetables were a refreshing start. Loved the grilled halumi cheese! - Mushroom tagliatelle- fresh, creamy, served piping hot, absolutely delicious - prime picanha steak was tender and melted in my mouth. The potato cake fried in duck fat was crispy on the outside and absolutely delectable. - chocolate torte dessert and a cup of coffee was the perfect way to end the evening! I can't wait to go back!

We came here for our anniversary and absolutely loved the food, service, and vibe. The food. We ordered the bone marrow appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. The pickled radish balanced the bone marrow so well, and the flavor of the marrow w the seasoning was a great balance of savory flavors. The Santa Maria Plate had chicken, picanha, skirt steak, and sausage, but we asked for the extra surf and turf that came with scallops and prawn. The meat was very well prepared, with specific high marks for the skirt steak. Perfectly cooked and had that charcoal flavor you just can't recreate. The resateaunt is situated next to an art gallery and offers views into the gallery which is such a nice design touch and adds to the overall ambiance and experience. The serve was also high quality and very attentive. Overall, we had a great experience and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a date night.

While the other menu items are intriguing, I went with a group that was set on having the shared mixed grill experience - we opted for the "Che Vamos!" enhancement. It was fabulous, and soooo much food for 4 people. There were leftovers, but not for lack of appetite/collective trying. I would like to return to try some of the à la carte options, but the mixed grill was a really fun introduction to the various proteins available on the menu, as well as some of the sides.

Service was excellent. Friendly staff. Prompt service. No complaints. Drinks were ample and tasty. Definitely a cocktail bar of my liking. Extensive wine menu as well. The vibe is so nice and chill. Now the food, I got the clams and then the smash burger from the happy hour menu. The clams were not washed properly and halfway through the crunch of dirt was a bit much. The smash burger was amazing. The fries were even better. I was really put off by the clams. I'm pretty sure I'll go back though just for the drinks and the vibes. I'll skip the clams next.

I absolutely love this place, the service and food is amazing. Wish their chairs were a little more soft but otherwise can't complain. Cute little place with a full bar and business casual vibe We have been here twice, and can't wait to go back. We recently got: The burrata which was a nice spin on the typical dish if you are not a fan of tomatoes We also got the calamari steak salad which was different I got my go to the duck, I want it again already and the pork. Highly recommend a little pricey but worth it

Delicious! Highly recommend the Mussels! Done with a tomato based broth, super delicious and nice sized mussels. Others dishes we tried was the fries, kale Caesar with chicken, Duck, and Scallops. The only dish that fell a little short was the duck, but the scallops were perfectly cooked and the whole meal was very flavorful. Street parking and happy hour from 4-5

I have been wanting to try Charcoal for awhile so went there in a date night. It is a great dining experience! Excellent service, friendly staff and a great location. We started out with the brioche rolls and roasted beets. Two great apps with lots of flavors! For dinner we had the pork tenderloin and the mushroom Tagliatelle. The flavors of our dinners were absolutely delicious! My pasta and steak were spot on and a great combo. I tried my girlfriends pork tenderloin when she was done and it may be one of the best things I have tasted at a restaurant. The depth of flavors in this dish are absolutely delicious and decadent. If you get this try to get a complete bite, with everything on it. You will not be sorry. No picture but we also had the olive oil chocolate cake which was a perfect finish. Will definitely be back!!

So We ask the server with the beidge color shirt, and he said our drinks its on the rocks. While on the rocks means a drink is served over ice cubes. When our drink its served on beer glass with ice that already crush or shake together with the drink. If the drink dont come in options "on the rocks" we're totally okay. Maybe saying "my apologies, the drink don't come in options on the rocks, should i make a change" or anything. But the server with the beige shirt teaching us that our drinks is served "on the rocks". It looks like he's teaching us back about our order. while our server its the one giving us the options for that. I do feel embarrassed about this. But it's ok. This place its just not going to be to our recommendation because of the server. Also the server should not took the menu and read whats inside the dish in front of us. When i firm about what i order. I think we are very in awkward situation. The server should more knowledge about the menu more than us.

However, yesterday on 6/28 when the wait was too long so I decided to choose takeout, it was the worst service I've ever experienced. I walked inside, placed the takeout order, and was told it would be ready in about 15 minutes. I went outside to the bench to wait to realize the server didn't take my name for the order. After about 20 minutes had passed, I walked back inside to look for someone. I saw another server walk over when I was lost and waiting and she ended up helping another group who walked in after me, so I was ignored. Then I initiated the conversation and asked about my order and she said "Oh please wait outside and we will come out to give you your order when it's ready." I glanced over and noticed someone bagging takeout orders, so I walked back outside. Another 25 minutes passed and no one has come out to deliver my takeout order. It was about 45 minutes since I placed the order and I was not happy. I walked back inside and asked the server behind the counter. Mind you this is the 3rd server. They asked what I ordered (since my name was not taken down when the order was placed, it made it unorganized) and one of the two takeout bags that was sitting on the counter for a good 20 minutes I noticed it was my order. When I got home, the burger buns were all soggy and the fries were soft and not crispy anymore. This is such an unfortunate situation because I've always shared positive comments about The Cottage, but with the experience I had yesterday, I will be rethinking to come back.

We booked a table in advance to catch an early bite, but the Happy Hour menu looked so good that we decided to sit at the bar instead. We ordered the Tuna Tartare, Clams, Pork Ribs, Grilled Eggplant, and Fennel Pickles from the Happy Hour menu, plus the Roasted Olives with extra Sourdough Bread from the main menu. Honestly, every single dish was delicious. The absolute highlights for me were the olives, tuna, pickles, and the sourdough! Here's a quick breakdown of what we had: Sourdough & Herb Butter: Absolute perfection. Crisp on the outside, chewy and moist on the inside. The herb butter was heavenly! Roasted Olives: The ultimate cocktail pairing. Tuna Tartare: The addition of cucumber made it taste so fresh and vibrant. Fennel Pickles: So addicting--I'm still thinking about them! Pork Ribs: Loved the Gochujang (Korean chili paste) sauce, which felt familiar and comforting. The flavor was great, though it had a slight pork aroma that might appeal more to those who enjoy a richer meat flavor. The cocktails were fantastic across the board. Now I completely understand why this place was constantly packed--unbeatable prices, top-tier food quality, and excellent service. Finding great food always sets the mood for a perfect day, and this place definitely made my day!
