I was first helped out with choosing the jewelry which was so great because I was really open to a lot of ideas and the employee helped me narrow down what would look nice together. Evan did my piercing and was so gentle and thoughtful with the entire process. He described what he would be doing and gave me a heads up at each step. This week decided to "test drive" this new studio with a small tattoo of two intertwining hearts in honor of my 20th wedding anniversary. Jaesun was very polite and did not talk down to me. It was not busy but probably because it is relatively new. It was clean and everyone seemed happy to be working there. I explained to Jaesun what I wanted, he designed it and we were inking it, baby. I went to 3 different tattoo shops to get an idea and a feel for their place before I decided on Merk Ink Tattoo Studio. I liked the vibe and feel of Merk Ink and I thought the woman at the front desk was very friendly and personable. It had been almost 21 years since my last tattoo so I was a bit nervous at first. She introduced me to Ireland who was very professional and made the entire session smooth and comfortable from start to finish. I decided on a small pumpkin with no color just above my wrist. The whole session took maybe an hour or so and I was obsessed with the tattoo once he was done - it was exactly what I wanted. It has been a week now and I can still say that I love my tattoo as it is healing and I am so happy that I chose Merk Ink! I will definitely be back to see Ireland the next time I visit Salem! Loved him for the cubist work he does and now I love him even more for how original my tattoo is. I came in with an idea of what I wanted and when it came time for me to actually tattoo, Dave exceeded my expectations in design. It was so dope. During the session, we watched two movies on the huge projectors in the shop. We were in a temp space, I think, as they were renovating the main place. Either way, everyone I interacted with was super kind, really funny, and just all around great people. I left kind of sad as we had spent 4 hours pretty much kickin it while I got my tat. Looking forward to get more work done here with Dave! --------------------- Don't really know about the tattoos, but my piercing experience was great! I felt the need to get a nose piercing and found Pino Bros through Yelp. I walked in and it was pretty busy, but I immediately was greeted by someone at the front and was taken care of (already impressed). The guy that greeted me told me that it would only be a few minutes because someone was ahead of me which was fine. I didn't mind. I only waited maybe 8 minutes until Aaron walked up to me and introduced himself. He immediately made me feel comfortable and I knew it was going to be a great experience.
