The owner steve seems like a good person to go to but when i got a tattoo done by scott, my friend mentioned she might want a tattoo too so he brought her over and when she told him her idea, he said it was "stupid" and told her to get flowers from his flash book i assume. then when he put the stencil on her, she felt unsure (because it wasn't what she really wanted) and he had to nerve to get salty about it! the place was good quality, but i would not get anything done by scott again. also this was a few years ago to be fair. three stars because it seems unfair to rate the whole shop low when the only problem was one artist read more

Went to king's Ink yesterday to get a navel and nipple piercings and everything went fantastic! The owner of king's Ink I believe did my piercings and I loved when he explained how everything is going to go before doing the procedure. He also made me feel comfortable when I was in the piercing room and was very nice about any other questions I had in the piercing room. He made sure everything was aligned correctly and asked if I was okay after. Lastly, he went above and beyond and gave me the measurements for my industrial piercing and wrote it down the aftercare sheet so I know what jewelry to get! I will definitely be back for more piercings and maybe a tattoo! read more

Horrible experience at King's Ink! Wouldn't recommend for many reasons .. I went to get my nose piercing stud exchanged for a hoop (healed piercing from last year) and the other side of my nose pierced last weekend. First, they were not able to get a small hoop in my healed piercing - they told me they only had a larger hoop available and the hoop was much larger than I wanted / liked for my style. After asking a different employee, they finally recommended a half hoop. The half hoop then fell out a few days later and I couldn't get it back again. At this point, it was almost a week since I got my new piercing, but it would not stop bleeding despite cleaning it twice daily. It also had a red ring around the jewelry and felt inflamed. Kings ink doesn't open until 12pm and because the half hoop fell out early in the morning, I decided to go to a different shop to see if they could help me get my hoop back in the meantime. Not only were they able to put in a full small hoop in the already healed piercing, but they told me I needed to swap out the jewelry of my new piercing because it was going back into the pierced hole and I was at risk of infection. They also noticed the ring and said that it is a sign that the jewelry is irritating the piercing hole. When they removed the earring they told me it seems the size of the needle apparently used for the new piercing. When I told staff at King's Ink about my new piercing and how the jewelry was going back into the hole/had to be removed, they wrote me off and told me it was on me and my lack of aftercare. I reminded them not only did they not review aftercare with me, but they didn't ask if I had aftercare questions. They refused to work with me or acknowledge that I was upset with my experience. They did say it was odd how the new nose piercing had a red ring and continued to bleed but again, blamed me for the jewelry going back in the hole and said they aren't responsible for what happens after I leave the shop. Don't waste your money at a shop that doesn't value their customers or want to hear from a customer that was concerned about a piercing infection from their shop!!!!! read more

Alex was awesome. Originally booking with her was reassuring, because other places I had called were very impatient and didn't really go over the price or process. She spent a good 10 minutes going over the process over the phone, and emailed me back right away. When the day of the tattoo came, I was nervous, but she managed to put the time into my tattoo and re did the drawing twice to make sure it was a perfect fit. It hurt, but I love it!!! When I walked into the shop for the first time, Steve was in the middle of an inking session for another client, but nevertheless invited to look around and took the time to make sure that I didn't feel the least bit intimidated. While I came into the shop with an initial design in mind, Steve took the time to help offer his creative input and really take my idea to the next level. Though I had originally wanted a simpler design, it was only because of my relative inexperience with the medium and what is achievable (it was a lot more than I knew possible). Steve worked with me and talked me through the level of detail he envisioned for the piece, as well as the technical background of how he planned to ink each element. Even more importantly, Steve understood my unique time crunch and sacrificed some of his personal free time to make sure that my design was ready to go for my appointment the next day. The actual inking also lived up to the professionalism that I have come to expect of Steve, as he took care not only to make sure that I was doing well, but also narrated how far along he was in the process whenever I expressed curiosity about what was going on back there. Ultimately, this was a fantastic experience for me and I definitely recommend King's Ink as the place to go, especially if you are one of the many people who have been thinking about a piece for awhile but haven't had the nerve to bite the bullet. LOVE Kings Ink!! I recently had moved from Minnesota, where I had gotten all my previous tattoos, so when I moved to Mass I started my research. I was searching for a local, clean shop with great reviews but most importantly a good portfolio. And Steve has a great portfolio. I went to King's Ink with my brother, who was getting his first tattoo (a gift from me, best sister ever!). Right away I could tell it was a great environment. Steve was very friendly, knowledgeable and explained everything to my brother in detail, along with some comfort. My brother had him draw up a design and it turned out better than we both imagined. (Please note: Steve does charge an artwork fee if you want him to design something for you). When the time came for my brother's appointment, Steve was great. My brother was very nervous and Steve always made sure he was comfortable. Needless to say, my brother's tattoo turned out amazing. I was so impressed with his work, I decided to get my next (8th) tattoo there. My design was far more detailed and larger - the biggest tattoo I have to date. So Steve and I went over every little detail about the design and he was SO helpful and came up with some great ideas. A few weeks later after he had completed it, I went in to look and my jaw hit the floor. It was breath-taking. When it was my turn to get it done, I received the same friendliness and professionalism (and I have high standards). Steve's work continues to impress me (I follow him on Facebook - you should too!). His new apprentice, Brian, has recently joined him and he is just as awesome and friendly as Steve. I look forward to going back there again soon for my next idea. Why go all the way into Boston/Cambridge for "famous" tattoo shops that will over-charge you and make you wait forever? I went to King's Ink for my first tattoo and I am so unbelievably impressed with the artwork and service. I came with a picture of what I was looking for and Scott brought it to life for me! I would absolutely recommend Kings Ink to anyone looking for amazing work! I have many tattoos by many artists but the owner, Steve King, is by far the best artist I know. He has done amazing work on my friends, family, and I. Not only is he amazing at tattooing but he certainly is great at piercings as well. A prior post on here says that a girl told her to go to hot topic for jewelry and that was a red flag. Well, there is no girl that works there, I was the customer waiting for someone to finish getting tattooed when she walked in asking for dermal jewelry. I told her hot topic and Steve told her piercing emporium. To give someone a bad review because they do not sell dermal jewelry(because they do not do dermal piercings) and a customer told you where to find that jewelry, is a bit extreme. It is not what he sells or where a customer told someone to go that determines if you are a good artist. I have an entire back piece by him and I am very thankful I chose him to do it. He created an amazing piece with meaning for me and all I did was give him ideas. Steve's ability to turn your ideas into amazing works of art is something you cannot find anymore. He is truly is the best tattoo artist I have ever found and I would never go anywhere else. The environment is very clean, comfortable, and professional. He is also great company as well. I have found my new artist in Steve King at King's Ink!! After experiencing a bad skin reaction to a small ankle piece with another shop, a close friend who knew I wanted more pieces recommended me to King's Ink. Although I have several pieces around my body, and are familiar with the process, each new artist and his/her environment really does set the tone for your overall experience getting inked. My first visit with this new salon had me at ease immediately and looking happily forward to my time in the chair! From onset, Steve's parlor is warm, inviting and comfortably sized. Good music at a low volume, Bruins game on the tv! He is very thorough in explaining the setup of both your chosen art (stencil) and with his workstation (tools, table, needles, ink, etc). He explains in great detail what he's going to do, and how he goes about taking the stencil to skin. He's also very detailed in explaining aftercare and will sell you the only stuff you need (Eucerin) to ensure your new ink heals safely and stays gorgeous. Last month on my first visit, I'd gone for a leg piece and today I'd returned for two rib pieces. On both we were done in an hour. He does not rush at all (minimal squirming by me) and he will take the time to look over several times to make your piece perfect. I was expecting my rib piece work today to hurt, but amazingly it did not! I will be back to Steve for more work in the near future. read more

This place is terrible. Guy at the front desk with the backwards bruins hat was an asshole. He made my girl and I feel stupid. I have been getting tattoos for along time now and just moved to the area. Thought it would be cool to have a tattoo shop right down the street from me. Getting a tattoo should be a good all around experience from start to finish. My advice to the owner, get rid of the loser at the front desk and hire someone with some customer service skills. I will make sure to let people know how awful my experience was at Kings. read more
