Very unfortunate that I have to write this review because I was expecting something very different. This sadly has been my worst restaurant experience in years. We had tickets at eight for Haunting at the Ridge about three minutes away. After looking at the menu, we decided to come here for dinner. I was very excited because of all the great menu options. The service was terrible from the start all around. We arrived at 6:15. There was two people in front of us. The hostess acknowledged us, but never took our name. A few minutes later, other people started coming in and she started taking their names and asking them if they wanted to sit outside. She never gave us that option. One of the people came in and started to debate whether or not they wanted to wait 20 minutes. She told them "You can stay or go, it doesn't matter to me." I should have known right there to leave. We were seated at 6:30 which was not a bad wait. 6:45 our orders were taken. Our waitress did not come back to the table one time after bringing our drinks. Never checked on us, never let us know what was going on with the food. She came back at 7:28 with our appetizer. We asked her how long would it take for the rest of our food. She apologized and said it would be another 20 to 25 minutes. I didn't understand how burgers take over an hour to make. We canceled the rest of the order. I was excited about the hotdog. Another letdown. It was cold when I got it and the chili on top had no flavor. I'm not even sure if it was deep-fried. Definitely not worth the $14.50 price. I will say the fries were very good. They were the only bright spot of the night. They have a lot to offer, but I would never come back here due to my experience. read more

I was hoping for just a little more. All I wanted was a good juicy burger and fries with a cold glass of iced tea. Simple right? So the positives. The burger was nice sized and well seasoned. The bun was one of those tasty diner style buns. The fries-very good. But...the burger was way overcooked. I asked for condiments, was promised some right away but they never showed and I didn't see our server again until the bill. So I ate a dry burger that I had to wash down with iced water-really can't call it tea. Some times it's the simple things. My wife liked her fish and chips. There was enough positive to try it again. This is our go to spot close to home for a casual meal. I have a soft spot for their nachos, whenever I have a craving, I head to Blackbird for their tasty chili nachos! It's actually pretty hard for me to branch out - I often order that as a meal, even though there are so many other yummy options! We've had many different entrees and appetizers - everything is always great. From the outside you sort of expect this to be a dive bar, but it's not. The service is great, always friendly and fast, even when the restaurant is packed. They have standard pub/bar food, but also have some fancier options and great specials. On our most recent trip, I had the Greek turkey burger with feta and tzatziki - it was amazing! It's a casual environment with terrific food. Highly recommend if you're in the area! read more

We stopped at Blackbird Tavern after BRUTAL Friday getaway traffic trying to get to Middlefield. We picked the right spot. Laid back pleasant service. The food was really good, full of flavor. My wife had the Buffalo Chicken Salad and I had the Southwestern Salad. Both were ridiculously good...again...full of flavor. I did not get our server's name, the really good guy with the beard, he was dialed in on our stress level, and he took care of us. It was our first time there. We love this place. read more

I was recently here for dinner with friends for the first time. They're regulars, so people stopped by the table to say hello and check out their newborn. It was fun to feel like part of a regular crowd even as a first-timer. I ordered the fish taco wrap ($11) which was exactly what I needed. I have eaten here many times. The menu is relatively limited, but everything we have ever ordered has been delicious. As a mostly-vegetarian, I always get the warm goat cheese salad which is TO DIE FOR. So delicious! The combination of ingredients is so flavorful, I don't even need dressing on it. And it is so generously portioned, I almost always bring half of it home, because I could not finish it. Service is AWESOME. Professional but friendly. She did the next most important part from old school and followed up on my meal and anticipated my second beer before it was empty and dried out. We have been coming here for years. The food has always been delicious. Inflation has hit them too. Prices have steadily increased. No problem. We understood. But tonight I ordered a burger which always was a hand pressed 1/2 burger. I got a frozen patty for $17.50. Shocked and disappointed. Their burgers were the best in the area. You cannot increase prices and then substitute fresh meat for a frozen patty at $17.50. My son got the chicken wrap. It was delicious. The fries though much smaller portion are hand cut and great as always. The cole slaw is superb. Best pickles so delicious. To go backwards in the quality and raise the prices is unacceptable. Did they think it would not be noticed? I hope they reconsider. Their reputation is based on their great food and ambiance. Burgers were a staple . I will go back for a glass of wine and a cup of delicious corn chowder. But dinner most likely not. And I am very sad about that. read more

The atmosphere is casual but the quality and standards are beyond high! Everything is absolutely delicious and the cocktails are amazing. The fries melt in your mouth (who knew fries could do that??) and the pig wings are to.die.for. Seriously. Pig wings with sweet chili sauce, thank me later. You will not be disappointed, and if for some reason you were, they wouldn't hesitate to make things right because this is a restaurant run by people with passion and heart!!! Last night I ordered takeout and I enjoyed the best meal that I've had in nearly four months of quarantine! I had the pulled pork sandwich which has always been one of my favorites at the Blackbird and they really outdid themselves. The pork was perfectly seasoned and cooked and the roll was amazing. Pulled pork is found on so many menus but none can beat the way it is perfectly done at this restaurant. I splurged and added a piece of carrot cake which was so delicious that I couldn't stop eating it. I'll definitely be returning again very soon. My husband and I have been here a couple of times. It's located smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood and we honestly thought the GPS took us the wrong way at first. There is a decent sized parking lot a for this tavern, and the tavern itself is bigger than I thought it would be. Since this is more of a local hot spot the service is a bit slower, the waitstaff seems to have to stop quite frequently to say hi to the regulars and be personable. This is a common trait of businesses that are truly working hard to be a part of the fabric of their surrounding community. This is the type of place you'd want to go if you have some time to be a little more easygoing and social. The food here is excellent, the nachos were our favorite. The portions are generous as well as the toppings! One order of nachos could be a full meal for 2-3 hungry adults! Each time we have come we have been warmly greeted at the door, seated quickly, and served with a smile and good conversation. The restaurant and parking lot are clean and the food is well made.
