$20 cheese steak?

Yup, the cheese steak went right back to the kitchen and removed from the bill. This is the 3rd or 4th time here. Each time, I've been underwhelmed. Pizza, wings, sandwiches are all "meh." Anything with marinara sauce is a no.... dude, step away from the oregano! Meatballs die the same fate. Allowing this cheese steak to leave the kitchen is sinful, even if it had cost half of what they charge. Sorry, Back 9, I gave you a few cuts at it, thinking we just went on an off night. I tried, unfortunately, the effort was one sided. While the drinks are cold with a decent pour, that doesn't get me in the car heading there. Won't be back.

This is a bar at the golf course. It's a little small but there was room at the bar for four of us. It's usually pretty busy with golfers but wasn't the night we went. Bartender was quick and attentive. Drinks were delicious and not too pricey. We didn't eat this time but they make the most amazing pizza. There's also a room you can reserve for private events. It has its in separate entrance and bar. Great spot to host a party.

9/1/22 Cup of that was good and the right portion to go with the burger that followed.

9/1/22 The Back Nine Tavern offered beautiful outdoor dining overlooking the course on this fantastic late summer afternoon with my dear friends Dave and Patti N. I started with a cup of chili that was pretty good (glad I ordered a cup, the bowl would've been too much with the burger) but was easily upstaged by the bacon, cheddar cheeseburger that came after. Pat had a chef salad with grilled steak that surprised us all with the size of sliced steak the salad was topped with. She declared it very good and enough for at least one more meal....maybe two. Dave opted for a combo turkey/corned beef Reuben that looked the size of two. He said it was really good. We all agreed that it was a better than average lunch, both quality and quantity wise. The Back Nine will likely be in our rotation for future luncheons.

Yikes, I wasn't expecting too much but was disappointed by my experience here. We came here with some family to celebrate a birthday safely outdoors. They have a huge deck and it overlooks the golf course which is nice. Upon arrival, they did not have our reservation despite calling twice to confirm. Luckily they had seating available for us. But apparently they didn't have time to wipe down the table. I always carry disinfectant wipes to wipe restaurant tables down, covid or not because my toddler eats right off the table. So as I was wiping the table and high chair down, I looked at my wipe and it was completely brown. So much grime. That would be gross even if we weren't in a global pandemic. I thought restaurants had to have higher health standards but apparently wiping tables down between guests is not priority here. Yuck. We ordered apps, drinks, and our meals. Food was decent, typical bar food. Burgers were meh and fry serving size was sad for the price. The apps and drinks came out quickly. Then comes the meals... every meal was brought out one.by.one with at least five minutes in between. They insisted someone in our group ordered a meal they definitely did not order and brought it to her multiple times anyway. Weird. So everyone had to eat separately or awkwardly wait as their food got cold. Next came the second round of drinks. Well, they never really came. It took multiple times of asking to get them to the table. Workers in the restaurant were not wearing masks and the bathrooms were not cleaned recently as there was toilet paper all over the floor. I think I need to continue takeout until this pandemic is over.

Seriously, if you're serving drinks n buckets, count me in!

Two o'clock on a gorgeous Sunday we go to a restaurant on a golf course to sit outside. Are we crazy? Well maybe a little. We were rewarded with a great view, food, and service. I love a restaurant that can get away with it but doesn't try to. With their location, the rest of the experience can be mediocre and people will still come back. Not here! The service was great. Friendly and attentive. The food was also great. Had the Mozzarella Medallions. I've never seen it done this way but oh so good. Three sandwiches in our group all excellent! Drinks were tasty and a good value. We'll definitely go back.

What a great surprise! I have played golf here and have enjoyed a beer and wings after a round and it was aok. Recently were told they out the outside dining and the menu has a lot to choose from and it is good. We did, and it is good!. We have been there twice and we see these themes. Friendly service. Lots of staff and they all want to make sure your happy. Food is good. We liked the pizza, e enjoyed the wings, a great salad and a "wow" on the lobster role. Late summer early fall is my favorite season and we will plan to get back and enjoy the outside casual dining.

Chicken Quesadilla

Had a great time at Back Nine Tavern last weekend! We were hungry, so we ordered quite the sampling of food. We started off with the Asian Pork Dumplings- fried dumplings served with a sesame ginger dipping sauce. They were great. Also tried the Chicken Quesadilla- flour tortilla filled with grilled chicken cheddar cheese, tomatoes and scallions. Came with sour cream too. Classic. The best appetizer though were the Trash Can Nachos- that was a pretty cool surprise. They had sausage chicken, taco meat, jalapeno, pico di gallo, house-made cheese sauce and came served with salsa, sour cream & guacamole. The cheese sauce was great! I typically order extra cheese on nachos- no need to here. Perfect just the way they are. Mealwise, my brother had a burger that looked really great. He ordered it with the yucca fries and had a chimichurri aioli dipping sauce. Those were great. Go yucca fries and switch things up with your sandwich. I ordered the Asian Beef Tip Pizza and it was out of this world good. It had marinated beef tips, mozzarella, red onions and was finished with habanero tabasco sauce. So good! We sat at the bar and had a really awesome bartender. Filled up our drinks super fast when they were close to empty. Great service and food combo. I'll definitely be back to try another pizza too. There are so many great specialty pizzas on the menu. Up next is the Loaded Mashed Potato Pizza!

Great environment outside to sit, enjoy your company and take in the views of the golf course. Service this time was great, our waitress Chelsea did a great job with us and dishes were cleared consistently by the workers there. Can I say how much I thoroughly enjoyed their unsweetened iced tea!?!?!? Not sure what was in it, but the taste was great! My husband and I shared some coal fired Asian Cowboy wings, a wedge salad, and the Coppo pizza. Only issue was we asked for the salad to come out first, but it came out the same time as the wings, then our pizza showed up shortly thereafter. Place was busy outside and inside when they left. And I enjoy all the palm trees and cabana looking umbrellas outside. We will be stopping here during the summer time!

Patio view. Check out the flaming table.

The aioli was delicious and went well with the tots. The sunny side comes with a hollandaise so I figured poached eggs would go best. The eggs were perfectly runny. My two complaints: I could have used a bit more hash browns under the eggs. I asked for a side of toast because there weren't enough potatoes to soak up the yolk with. The hollandaise has good flavor but arrives a bit watery and foamy. It also seems like they serve unsalted whipped butter? I could be wrong but my buttered toast was bland. Overall, I will definitely come again. The coffee was good, there are other dishes I want to try, and our server, Meikhi was so nice and attentive. He's very personable and matched the energy of each of his tables.

She kept conversation going, was quick with the drinks and made sure we got our food order right before the kitchen closed. I came in not knowing the wings are on sale, so I opted in for the garlic Parmesan and the Nashville hot dry rub. These wings are definitely on my top 5 places to go for wings! They were full of meat, flavor and were very crispy! We also got the strawberry limeade which came with sour patch strawberries. I will definitely come back as the vibes were chill and the service was great

Yes, we love J.Tim's,…read moreappreciate the local flair of O-Joe's (both locations), and even admire the smoked wings in an around Torrington. Someone gave me the tip to try these as he thought they would "compete" with the aforementioned. For the first 5 min of my visit, I thought it might be the case. Here are the reasons to ABSOLUTELY GO!!!!! Even if a 30-45 min drive. 1) SERVICE - simply fantastic. Huge thanks to Destiny and the kitchen for making my experience great. 2) ATMOSPHERE - THIS IS the place I want to come to watch the games, for the long haul in the fall or playoff time! Great lighting. Music gives way to the game. Locals. Golf and bowling games. You name it. Fantastic. 3) THEIR BLUE CHEESE - unique. Delicious. Clearly house made. Makes the wing experience better. Here are the reasons I would only go if convenient: 1) THE FOOD - My chili to start only said beef chili on the menu. On first bite, there was a stinging salty taste of BACON. I have no problem eating bacon, but should say it on the menu for those who do not. And, that flavor profile is not what chili evokes. 2) THE WINGS - when the blue cheese and veggies came out, I was almost hyperventilating with excitement. The wings then came. Huge let down. Without going into the subtleties of the sauces, I'm more focused on deciding if they were frozen-pre-breaded wings or fresh wings with a salty/shake and bake coating on them. They're huge. They're crispy (kitchen is good). They're just not a traditional wing (should also say coated on the menu). 3) THEIR OIL - one of my wings was a delicious lemon pepper dry rub. So much promise. So crispy. Then, the flavor transfer hit. They must have fried fish on the menu. Same/old fry oil So my wings without a sauce (dry rub) tasted faintly of fried cod. Gross. I will go back. I liked the staff and feel enough. It could be fun. But it's not the hidden wing Mecca I will continue to search for. Service, feel, blue cheese earn all the stars.

This little unassuming place deserves every one of them! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly man at the counter who seated us and brought menus. He turned out to be very helpful finding out this was our first time here. The store was well lit and clean. The tables were well spaced and not crowded in. My wife stuck to our tradition and ordered the RT 10 Dog with the spicy relish on the side. (Which was great for me) I couldn't resist The Hungry Bull burger. We'll just have to come back again for me to try their hotdogs. The 10' hot dog is a Martin Rosol's so the foundation of this hot dog is super strong. The sauerkraut was tasty and full flavored and just the right amount of mustard. My wife tried the spicy relish, that our server cheerfully supplied on the side, and it was a little too hot for her liking. Bonus for me. I got to put it on my burger. My burger came out stacked on a sturdy Brioche Roll with American cheese, onion straws and some very tasty horseradish crema. My burger was juicy and full of flavor. The onion straws brought the right amount of crunch. Halfway through I began to add in the spicy relish. Amazing. We got fries and onion rings and shared. The fries were big, crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. Just the way I like them. The onion rings were amazing. I like when you bite into an onion ring and the whole onion doesn't come sliding out. These were perfect. Very good crunch and flavor. We have already decided that we will be back. I can't wait to try the hot dogs and the chicken sandwiches that were also calling my name.

I had a meatball sub, and my goodness, it was the best I've had in years; a perfect balance of sauce so that the meatballs didn't get overwhelmed. My son got one of their burgers and absolutely devoured it. Finally, their fries and onion rings are some of the best I've had in a while. I'm bummed that we are only in CT to visit family once a year, because this would definitely be added to our regular treat rotation.

As I walked through the front doors, I noticed kegs alongside on the floor. This was kind of a turn off, kind of reminds me of a dive bar. So my mentality kicked in that we were going into a dive bar serving food. I kinda get the sketchy feeling. Once we were seated, and menus placed, we were served iced water A few minutes later, the server came back and took our order. My friend ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, and some string french fries. I ordered the 1/2 smoked chicken, which came with two sides. I chose the rattlesnake beans and the creamy macaroni and cheese. Also include included was cornbread I originally wanted the street corn, as a side, but it was not available. Our lunches came quick, and my friend only ate half the french fries and cheeseburger, as she wasn't really turned on by them. The smoked chicken was fairly dry, with a very interesting smoked flavor to it that I can't put my finger on. I eat about 1/3 of it. Left the rest on the plate. The creamy macaroni and cheese was out of bounds top-notch. I could've eaten this all day. The rattlesnake rice and beans were just OK. The rice was cooked pretty good, and was seasoned well. The beans had a weird taste. Now thinking of this side dish, I was hoping for raw onions to be on top, but they were nowhere to be found. It'll be nice if there was chopped raw onions to go with this. The cornbread was delicious. I ate about half of it. It was a generous slice. While the server was fairly attentive, as she only checked in to fill the water glasses and ask how lunch was. She didn't ask us if we wanted a desert or coffee. Being old folks this would've been a great up for us, but it didn't happen. I had to ask for the check. I'm not sure if I would come back. I think this might be a one and done. The vibe just didn't hit it for me. Restrooms were clean. The restaurant was clean; the silverware clean. I don't know. It just was like a funky type layout and those beer kegs kinda sent the wrong tone to me as a guest. Lunch for the two of us was $40 and change and I left a $10 tip. We didn't have any cocktails or mock tails, we didn't have coffee or dessert either. From what I understand, the owner was near the exit when we left, not even a smile or a thank you for coming in...
