My fiancée came here to play bingo with some friends of hers a while back and said that I needed to try out their wings, so here we are and I'm going to tell you how it went. Atmosphere/Appearance: Lots of people are afraid of dive bars for some reason. I don't know if it's because of the stuff they see in movies or what, but they're some of the best places to come! Everyone is friendly, no one is judgmental, folks just kinda mesh together! There is a private parking lot out front as this place is literally located next to Jerry's Pizza. I'm assuming they're owned by the same folks. Once inside you'll see the bar to the right, dining to the left then the pool tables and bathrooms all the way in the back. There's a TouchTunes digital jukebox here so you can play whatever kind of music you want loudly throughout the restaurant. Lol. Service: It seemed as if 1 to 2 lovely ladies were running the bar and the whole restaurant by themselves. They were doing an excellent job making sure we were all taken care of and I was quite impressed. Food: I came for the WWWIIINNNGGGSSS. We tried the Mango Habanero, Sweet Thai Chili and Thai Peanut Butter & Jelly. They were all just okay. I don't like breading on my wings. It just adds carbs and makes the wings "look" bigger. Like stuffing a bra... you feel me? Out of the 3, I think the Mango Habanero would've been my favorite, but overall I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for wings. Sorry. :-/ Value: I can't recall how much wings were, but they weren't expensive at all. You won't break the bank eating here, no matter what you get. In conclusion... this place is cool. I wouldn't get the wings here again, but I'd certainly be willing to try other things on the menu for sure. read more

Great little sports bar with great specials! How can you beat $2 beers and 40 cent wings?? Highly recommend the peanut butter and jelly wings, sounds weird but they are quite tasty!! It is our mission to try all of the wing flavors. It's a great local bar on the south side of town, where there are not as many bars and restaurants. Came here to watch the game on a Saturday night, Live rock music made me feel alright. Good beer selection for a good price. A local dive bar that is pretty darn nice. I'm happy I live about 300 yards from this place. They have TVs in every corner of the place. Great place to watch football. I am a home brewer so beer selection is very important to me. They have about 20 brews on tap and more in bottles. Good selection. Craft beers were $5 and Miller drafts were $2. The place was packed with people. There was a good cover band playing. Yelp hooked me up with a free domestic draft upon buying a slice of Pizza for $2.50. The pizza came from the Italian restaurant next door which has common ownership. Plenty of parking and seating. Stopped in to Matty's one night with friends and had a great time here. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, drinks were cold and the DJ was great! Good wings with some good specials on appetizers. Lots of old, drunk white guys having fun there. But not enough people working there to attend to diners. Waiter missed an app we ordered (he didn't write it down), never brought ketchup for our burgers and fries (didn't return to ask), and while I appreciate a mixed drink having its fair share of alcohol it was so strong it was hard to drink. I've been to Matty's at least 15-20 times. Usually the service, food, and drinks are very good. The last few times I've gone, though, I've gotten pretty bad service from one bartender in particular. The last time was on Sunday, Jan 11 at around 1pm. I don't know her name, and I wouldn't put it on here anyway, but she's very slow (especially if you're sitting at a table). She's not very friendly, and she spends a lot of time talking to other employees or looking at her phone. At one point she even sat at a table with a customer for a few minutes while I was trying to get her attention for a drink. I would have given at least 4 stars if not for this bartender. The other bartender that day (his name starts with M and he has a buzz cut) is awesome. Very fast, very friendly. The food is usually very good, and there's usually some kind of beer special. read more

It was snowing, the governor put up a driving ban. But as soon as the roads opened back up, this was the first and only place we could find on our way home to stop into and grab a bite to eat after being out in the snow shoveling and plowing all day. Cliental was super friendly and the staff was efficient. Not my typical place to go to, as it is divvy, but good prices and food was great too. The transformation that the owner, Matt, has performed on an old coffee place is incredible. It's comfortable, plenty of room at the bar itself, tables all around, LCD TV's on both sides of the room (I think there are 13 of them), and bring your darts or cue stick too. There's also free WiFi and a state of the art Jukebox that you'll most likely find any of your favorite songs on. The staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and expeditious and oh yeah, Jerry's Pizza's full menu along with an appetizer menu. The beer is flowing and enough choices between "On Tap" and "bottled" to handle everyone's taste. I also enjoy when they have live music or a DJ and Karaoke. Mattys is the best sports bar in the area if you are looking for value. 2 bucks for a coors light, you can't beat that. 50 cent wings on Thursdays, the wings are huge I would say they are about 2x the size of sliders and rookies. They also have good grinders and wraps. Service can be hit or miss depending on who the bartender is. They seem to have a good amount of turnover there. Why go spend more and get less at rookies and sliders? I only wish they have more space as there has been a few times where there was not one table or seat at the bar so my wife and I had to leave. I want to like Matty's so bad. I have given them so many second chances at this point. I'm actually quite upset that there is no option for zero stars. Between having god awful service (after waiting 20-30 minutes with empty glasses having to go up to the bar because our waitress is MIA) to having to wake up at 3:30am to have my body explosively discard my poorly cooked wings, enough is enough. My girlfriend and I visited today to watch some football and have some food, we have been here before and had decent service. however today was another story. the service absolutely sucked !!!!! Went to Mattys next door for the first time with a friend. We ordered the salt and vinegar wings. Here's the review * Crispy- wings were crispy throughout. Does not need any dressing whatsoever.. *Presentation- 8 meaty wings with perfectly cooked moist interior. Plate also had a few celery sticks with blue cheese and ranch dressing. Recommend eating dry. Slight negative no carrot sticks. Flavor- The salt and vinegar wings exploded with flavor in your mouth and left me wanting more like a high end Lady of the night..lol Chef- Took pride in wings, came out and asked if wings were up to par.. was in there bar on friday night i was with a party of about 35 people for a birthday when we got there the owner told us as long as we work with him we would have a good time because he was short staffed told him its not a problem we planed on being there a while well most of the night went ok besides the lack of drinks be served and the long wait for food some of are guest waited over 2 hours for apps and blammed that on the 1 grinder and 2 burgers we order and 4 slices of pizza at the end of the night i went to pay my bill when i paid it i told them i would be covering my brothers tab on my bill first name russell same last name as me as well and i also told her what we ordered just so no mixs ups well when she gave me the bill i was pretty drunk being my birthday and all so i didnt really looked at the slip i just trusted the bar tender well big mistake she charged me another person tab and when i told the owner of the situation he told me that it was my fault never refuned me the 1st charge and then took my payment for what we did order and never refunded me the money from the first charge and also threaten to kick my ass let face it i could of started a fight but i decided not to being that i am legal to carry in ct and didnt need no problems so i didnt push it i just laughed at him because him being a business owner you would think he have some customer service skills and some respect for someone who just got 35 people to walk in his door long story short i never got the money that was over charged straighten out and when we called the next day he just blamed it on the fact we where ordering so much well why give menus if you cant handle what where ordering dont get me wrong it looked like a episode out of bar rescue where the owner was sitting on his ass the whole night and the bar was swamp and john t shut it down well that what he needs is bar rescue he sat down most of the night and when stuff fell apart he couldnt handle it some people dont belong in a stressful business and he is one of them also the bar tender behind the bar who ran my tab for wrong bill could have just said sorry and refunded it but instead started fighting with me ill never go back there and i will no longer let them advertize for my company i dont want my customers think that we treat are customers the way the treated us i wish jerry never allowed this cause i used to be a regular there as well and i will not go there now as well and they just opened another place on east main i will not be going there as well in my line of work customers are always #1 and we do anything for them well i hope that 65.00 extra was worth the advertizing we where doing with you good luck as long as matt has anything to do with any of these companys i will sit back and wait for him to fold cause it will be a matter of time till he does put his hands on someone and the sue him for everything he got or i should say everything his wife and her father have read more
