Ok they are HEAVILY customer service oriented. So much so, I had to ask the 10th person who asked me if I needed help after only being in the store about 3 mins, are y'all ok? What's going on? Why can't I move 3 steps without someone asking if I need help? She said that's the companies policy. That's fantastic! Truly is.. But for me, please let me breath just a tad. Anywho, we really loved all the items they offered. The store was so neat and well stocked. We ended buying a few sweaters and were able to try them on. They do run a bit small. I normally get a large in sweaters so I can have a super loose fitting sweater. Their XL was snug. I normally wear a medium. So you can gauge for yourselves what that looks like for you. I say DEFINITELY try on anything before purchasing. The quality of their sweaters specially, HIGH Quality. I wore the sweater the next day, boy I got so many compliments. Strange seeing all the low reviews for the Blackhawks Store - not my experience at all. First off, I'm not a hockey fan or even a Blackhawk's fan, but I was walking by and the shop caught my eye, so I decided to wander in. I found the place really nice - great quality merchandise and overall, beautifully presented. I messaged my 13 year-old son and asked if he'd like a t-shirt as I saw several cool possibilities. Interestingly, I bought him a Vancouver Canucks t-shirt last year in B.C. - he's not necessarily a hockey fan, but likes hockey t-shirts...I know, save it. You don't see too many team stores outside their respective arena or field. Hockey tends to have more stores than any other sport, but it's still different to see. However, the Chicago Blackhawks have an Oak Brook store and a front on Michigan Ave. The store is located on the second floor of a large building on the corner of the Chicago River and South Michigan. The store is a lot smaller than I was expecting it to be, given the size of the building itself. It has a cool entrance and the cash registers to the right. The jerseys are next to that, with clothing working its way in a circular fashion. When I went there were a lot of sales. I don't know if it was because the Blackhawks were doing poorly at the time or if they had a lot of inventory to be moved in. Whatever the case, there were some deals to be had. I am personally not a Blackhawks fan so I didn't partake in a buying spree, but there was a good flow of people taking advantage of the slashed prices. The store's layout is kind of weird. In addition to thinking there'd be more space, I found myself underwhelmed with the selection. If it were a Pittsburgh Penguins store, I may have been more inclined to purchase some of the sale items, but I found the same items spread around in no particular order. All were priced the same though so you don't have to worry about the final tag being a lie. If you have an interest in getting some gear while in Chicago, the Blackhawks store is convienently located with many differently priced options. Again, if I were a Blackhawks fan, I'd definitely stock up here. read more

What a neat store! My boyfriend and I stumbled on this store while walking the weekend after their 2015 Championship, and since he's a huge Blackhawks fan, I encouraged him to stop in. We were initially deterred by the line to get into the store. There was a security guard standing outside, with a few people beyond the door, but inside, the line continued up to the second level. Obviously, this isn't always the case, but I will say that even with the long line, we didn't seem to spend that much time waiting. Inside, the store is broken out into different sections and the layout makes shopping and browsing around a bit easier. My favorite part is the photo booth area where you get to pick a background, players to pose with, and have unlimited free takes. They send it to your email and BAM! You have a memento. Awesome store, and I would gladly accompany my boyfriend again on a trip back! read more

The Blackhawks Store on Michigan Ave boasts a PLETHORA of Blackhawks items. You name it and the Hawks slapped their logo on it. Great place to purchase an authentic Blackhawks sweater (jersey) or the replica version (just as high end but is $150+ less) of any of your desired players. I purchased my Jonthan Toews sweater year over 7 years ago and it is still in great shape and thankfully I haven't gained too much weight to out grow it. haha. The store is large and has fun memorabilia from past championships that you can view but also purchase. As many reviewers have noted, the items are expensive and the store rarely has sales. They may put items on clearance but don't ever expect monthly, quarterly, Black Friday or Christmas sale prices. This new store is gorgeous. There's much more merchandise and a lot of it unique. Think mason jars with pieces of player used merchandise, Christmas ornaments and cute tutus for the little kids. The collection for women has been expanded too and finally include scarves, jackets with subtle logos, hair baubles, and more. Prices definitely take into account the Michigan avenue location, but the added decor, fabulous photos (now finally available for purchase) make up for it. My gent is obsessed with the Blackhawks so we have been many times. It's exactly what you'd expect: a team store chock full of pricey goods ranging from jerseys to hats to jewelry. The store has always been tidy and there are always plenty of salespeople milling about if you have questions. Things I really like about the store: + The aforementioned salespeople are truly helpful. They are happy to answer your questions and have on more than one occasion gone to scour the stock room when we can't find the size we need. + The items are expensive (which should come as no surprise to anyone who has bought official merchandise from a sports team), but they often have 40% off sales. On our first visit my boyfriend wanted a new jersey but decided for the price he would just order one on Amazon. We returned the next day because he decided he did want another hat and stumbled upon a 40% off sale that resulted in saving more than if he had gone the Amazon route. We've seen the sale on a couple of other occasions as well. + A nice display of memorabilia near the entrance to the sales floor. + Nice shopping bags and tissue paper that can be repurposed as gift bags for the Blackhawks fan in your life. Things that could be improved: - The temperature is too warm. Winter in Chicago means heavy coats and hats, but if you continue to wear them in the store you will be sweating. Literally. Obviously the employees need to be comfortable too, but the thermostat could probably be dropped to a happy medium. The store is upstairs so it's not like cold wind is gusting onto the sales floor. - It is very claustrophobic. The store is a weird shape and there is merchandise everywhere. Having to take off my coat so I don't melt makes me feel like I'm going to knock stuff over at every turn while I try to snake through the displays and people. These are minor quibbles, though. If you are a Blackhawks fan with money burning a hole in your pocket you'll likely be so happy you won't even notice the imperfections. read more

Very disappointing, considering. So they had the big fanfare/rollout and having been there twice now... that's it? The space is definitely cleaner/nicer, but strangely limited in selection. They have all the top players' jerseys but for lesser known names or past players not so much. I really expect the Blackhawks store to have all things Blackhawk and while they do have a lot of nice hoodies/t-shirts, they are EXPENSIVE. Most surprisingly they didn't have the camo jersey which I had gone there for thinking they must have it--no, they didn't. No explanation as to why or how to get one. No black jerseys or even the Winter Classic blacks from last year. This store seems very much geared towards tourists and casual fans and not Hawks completists (which I am, owning 9 jerseys and countless other clothing). After being a fan of hockey and the Blackhawks for a good 25 years I was finally in Chicago and my first stop was at the Blackhawks Store. I walked in and it was like Nirvana, I waited a very long time to finally be here in Chicago and have a ton of options on Blackhawks gear. In Maryland there was pretty much zero options for Blackhawk gear and I don't like buying hats and shirts online, I like being able to try them on. Just recently some of the sports shops would carry a couple Blackhawk hats and shirts just because they won the Stanley Cup recently but wasn't interested in the selection they had. I just stood there in the entrance and looked around, I didn't know where to begin. They have a wall with a blackhawks logo which is autographed by many of the players and of course I got my picture taken next to it. Finally it was time to shop, they had everything and I mean everything. I looked through the shirts and picked out a couple, looked through the long sleeve shirts and hoodies and picked out a couple, then it was time to look through the hats and picked out one. Finally I went to the register with my hands full and laid my loot on the counter. Talked to the manager for awhile and told him I was out of town and my story being a Blackhawks fan that lives in another state. He was great to talk to, we talked for a little while about the Hawks, hockey in general then talked about other sports. Him and the other employee whom was working the register was very pleasant and patient. As I was checking out I was looking at all the impulse buys they had by the register and of course I picked up some stuff, like a key chain and some car decals. After a few hundred dollars later it was time for me to go but I know I will be back, I just have to catch a Blackhawk game in Chicago. I've been to a few in DC but I must see one in Chicago. Around 1pm on Wednesday there was no line to get in or to pay, so quick'n'easy shopping. I love Hawk Quarters not because I'm a Blackhawk's fan, but because they sell all types of merchandise for all of the teams in The Original Six. If you're a fan of any of the Original Six teams, don't discount Hawk Quarters as strictly a Blackhawk's shop. Types of merchandise range from key chains to player jerseys, so picking a price range is tricky. There is something for every hockey fan no matter their budget. So, if you watch any Blackhawks games on TV or paid any attention to the news when the "new" Blackhawks store opened you probably expect to walk into giant Blackhawks emporium selling all the official Blackhawks apparel, gear, accessories, etc. and be in absolute awe. It was promised as the ultimate Blackhawks fan experience. If that's the case, you'll be very disappointed. The "old" Blackhawks store was a tiny store packed with everything you could possibly be looking for. The back wall had all the players jerseys and blank jerseys available for purchase or customization. Player jerseys used to cost $225 while blank jerseys were $140ish if I remember right. Two years ago I paid about $220 to have a blank jersey customized. The store also had a wall of pucks, books, mugs, DVDs, stickers, etc., a wall of hats, and clothing racks everywhere with all sorts of apparel. While this store was cramped, it had everything you could want and served it's purpose really well. It featured Blackhawks gear from floor to ceiling. Now for the "new" store... When you walk in the doors there is a ton of Blackhawks memorabilia all over the walls, signed gear, game worn gear, etc., there is a wall of flat panels playing game footage, and there is a giant Blackhawks logo made from hockey sticks. Definitely pretty cool. When you walk into the main part of the store everything is very sterile. It's white everywhere. White walls. White floors. White fixtures. Is this supposed to be a high end boutique or a sporting apparel store?!? Nothing about this space screams Blackhawks. In fact, if you packed up all the Blackhawks gear you wouldn't have any clue you're in a space occupied by the Chicago Blackhawks. It's as if they hired Burberry to design the store. As for the apparel, gear, and accessories, everything is incredibly expensive and the shelves tend to be pretty sparse. Player jerseys have a $350 price tag attached. Who can afford that?!? These aren't replica jerseys though but still, that's expensive. You can find all their replica jerseys on their website for a more reasonable price and there are a few other venues in the city selling officially licensed gear for far more reasonable prices. Also, the selection of gear in this store is also quite limited. If I'm looking for some Chicago Blackhawks gear I won't return to this store. I'm not willing to pay a premium in this tourist trap of a store when I can shop online and find the items I'm looking for. read more

Don't bother going someplace like Sports Authority or another general sports merchandise shop for your Blackhawks needs. The selection here is unbeatable. Because it is all hockey, all the time, you never have to worry about them being out of your size in a jersey or not having merch featuring your favorite player, except maybe an hour before they close on Christmas Eve. For several Christmas seasons now, I've looked elsewhere for specific Blackhawks items and not found them. This year, I cut to the chase and came right to Michigan Avenue. They had the jersey I was looking for in the size I was looking for, in both home and away colors. What's more, immediately a staff member saw me peering up at the shelf and offered to help me. My runty arms could not reach the jersey I wanted to see, so this assistance was greatly appreciated. Convenient to public transit and downtown parking garages with early bird rates, I suggest you make a day of it--hit all your Michigan Avenue holiday stops at once, starting here with any shopping you might need to do for the hockey fan in your life. The prices on some items are a bit high, but you have to pay for good staff, superior selection, and great location. Otherwise, you end up staring at a lone rack of NHL shot glasses at Sport-Mart and wondering what kind of crack you were smoking when you decided it was a good place to shop for hockey-related gifts. read more

Went into the "new" store for the first time today since they moved. I was extrememly dissappointed. Not only was the staff extremely unhelpful and uptight, but they also didn't seem knowledgable about hocky and the Hawks in general. It was great fun to discuss options/games/salary cap info with the clerks at the old store. Also, as others have said, the store felt very sterile, and not "Blackhawks" at all. If you were to remove the items for sale, you would not have known it was the Blackhawks flagship store. For its size, very limited selelction, and both more expensive than previously and more expensive than the NHL online store. This is a great shame, becuase this store (the one downstairs) was crammed with nearly everything you could want in a well organized, fun environment. Overall, it seems that this stores purpose is to sell items to tourists, not to be there for the local Blackhawks fans who want to get gear. Moving forward, I'm either shopping online or at other retailers who carry Blackhawks items. read more

My review covers both in store and an over the phone order. I was able to be in store over the summer in June this year. The store was beautifully clean and well organized. They were able to keep everything looking great even though the place was packed! The prices were typical for official Blackhawks products. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the checkout line moved very quickly! I just placed an order over the phone for two hats that are impossible to find anywhere. I unfortunately live in California so finding Blackhawks anything out here is almost impossible. Joe helped me on the phone and was able to hunt down the hats I wanted and they are getting shipped out today! Very quick, very kind, and very helpful! In my two experiences, this place has been great! My only wish is that I could see their stock online and/or order online. But since they are so friendly and helpful on the phone, I have no problem making a call! I can't wait to wear my gear out here at the Staples Center and Honda Center! read more

Very nice store, but I'll absolutely agree(and warn) that VERY LITTLE in the store is cheap. Most everything is sold at MSRP prices, so if you're looking for a bargain or sale on some Blackhawks merchandise that's finally become outdated, you probably won't find it here and'd be better to go to a competing brick and mortar sports store or online. I did see one or 2 things that were put on clearance, so finding that stuff isn't impossible. But I got the sense that you won't find things like that very often, here. If you're a Hawks fan(like me), it is fun to visit at least once. Hate to say it, but dunno if I'll be rushing back anytime soon. Best to visit it to see the Hawks memorabilia that's inside, IMO. And kudos to them having a really nice security guard, on the first floor. Give him a raise, and also listen to him that the autographed sign of past and current Hawks players on the 1st floor(when you enter, to the left of the stairs) needs to be put into a case! read more

I go by this store on the bus pretty frequently and finally stopped in with the Blackhawks doing so well and all I had to get a momento.. They had a great selection of jerseys, sweatshirts, etc. I especially thought they had a great selection of women's tops. If you are a hard core fan, they had a variety of items signed by fans, hockey pucks and sticks, and many other misc. souvenirs such as keychains for those with less dough or interest. I want to give it a 5 because WOOOOOOOO BLACKHAAAAWWWWWKKKKSSSS but honestly in terms of selection and service its a solid 4. I've gotten more interesting and licensed Blackhawks paraphernalia elsewhere in Chicago (at the Convention and at little truck outside the UC) but it is the headquarters and they do have the greatest selection of official jerseys - WHEN WILL YOU GIVE ME A GODDAMN SHAW JERSEY THOUGH. Its definitely a place every fan should stop in at to at least look around but I definitely saw more things I liked at other places around Chicago or at the NHL online store. It has the chalkboard wall all the boys have signed. It has a bunch of TV playing game highlights. All sorts of jerseys in mostly adult sizes - although pretty high up so you'd need staff to help you get it down and fairly disorganized in terms of the players. A pretty decent little kids section but a pretty lackluster selection for pre-teens/teens (which is what I would need if I wanted to get a jersey to fit my tiny-adult-girl frame). No real hockey gear - no Bauer sticks either from the players lines or specially signed merch. No sales section this year bc the fuckers did just win the Cup. A decent selection of ladies shirts but a lackluster selection of ladies accessories (3 choices of earrings from the UC store and none at this place) and outerwear (got my favorite Hawks hoodie at the convention but there was nothing but bulky drabness at this store). read more

After purchasing a jersey for my son on-line, I realized that I needed one for myself and for my daughter. A week later, I had some free time, so I headed over. I was impressed that they had pink jerseys for my daughter. She's not a hockey fan, but she wants to hang with my son and I and a pink jersey makes her feel like she's one of us, in her own way. They also had a few other items for little girls, which was nice. Staff was very nice in walking me over to help me choose one. When I noted a small defect on the jersey, they were happy to go to their storage area and find a different one. For myself, it seemed that prices were higher than on-line (if there is a difference between the jerseys NHL.com is selling for $170, as opposed to the jerseys this place is selling for $210, I don't see it). Still, they had a nice selection. They didn't have a home jersey for the player I wanted, so again, they were happy to go back to storage and find one. (Yes, I paid more at the store than I would have on-line, but I was in the shop anyway so I paid for the convenience of doing both jerseys at once). The real strength of the store is with the authentic jerseys. If you are OK dropping $300 on a jersey, they have an excellent selection. They also have a nice selection of hats, t-shirts, etc. If you are a Hawks fan, check it out, although from a price standpoint you may be better off on the NHL website. read more

Walking around downtown with my sister and hubs, we run right into this store. They keep walking ahead as I make a right and enter the store where I could look at things for quite some time. I already see shirts, jackets, jerseys, hats, etc that I want to buy. On the wall, they have the logo with autographs of Blackhawks players. Very cool. The TVs all play hockey games/news. I limit myself to two items: a Blackhawks flag and a vintage looking tshirt. The prices are expensive compared to other stores that sell their gear but I'm going to attribute that to it being downtown on Michigan Ave. I am ready for the new season after stepping into the store.
