Dang, dude. The other reviewers ain't lying about the sewage smell. It smells like a public restroom in here, which is ironic because they don't have a public restroom available. (Which completely sucks! No public restroom made me have to cut my shopping trip short. If you're going to smell like a restroom, at least offer a restroom to your customers.) This is the closest Uniqlo to Indiana, so this is the one that I visited when I needed to replenish some of my winter basics. You know that HeatTech hits oh-so-good during the Midwest winters. It's also the only Uniqlo that I've been in that's two stories. It's big, and there's a lot of stuff! There's a map that shows you where the men's, women's and children's things are. The changing room is efficient, but if you have a shopping bag of stuff and you want to try something on, you need to leave the bag at the front desk. The check-out area is self-check-out, and you don't scan anything, but just place items in a bin. And then somehow, as if by magic, the bin knows what you placed inside it and it shows up on the screen. I heard an older gentleman say, "How does it know?" I don't know, my dude. But Uniqlo is that way. It's a forward-thinking place. Like all of the Uniqlo shops that I've visited, this one is well organized, clean and tidy. There are lots of people refolding shirts and making sure things look nice and appealing. One thing to note: This Uniqlo is in the middle of downtown Chicago, so there is zero parking near the store. I had to park in a parking garage for $40. So there's two pairs of leggings that went to parking! I didn't do any research on parking, though, so maybe there is somewhere else to park that's more economical. But Uniqlo is located near Millennium Park, so I have a feeling that wherever you park, it might be expensive. read more

I want to start out by saying I didn't notice any sewage smell... thankfully! Nate and I stopped in to this Uniqlo recently while in town because we both bought items that we LOVED from a location in Tokyo. Unfortunately they don't carry the dress that I like but we had fun looking at all the different options. Nate referred to Uniqlo as the "Old Navy of Japan," which I still think is accurate. The prices at this store were definitely higher than in Japan. There are two levels and I saw some great sale items, kids' clothing, and a fun collaboration with Mofusand (cute cat t-shirts). They are known for their collabs with artists and designers, so it's always fun to see what they have in stock. I noticed that they didn't have many extended sizes, with signs indicating to check online for larger sized items. We were there right when they opened so it wasn't busy and the self-checkout lines were quick. Bring your own bag or pay 10 cents for a paper bag. read more

Downtown is lucky to have a Uniqlo! They have the best easy simple outfits that are super affordable. There's two levels here in a super spacious location. They had umbrellas ready for purchase for those rainy days. There's a ton of options for the whole family with a separate children's section. I really like the padded bra shirts and tanks that make surviving the humidity more bearable. Checkout is easy by putting items in a deep bin that scans it all magically! Their free membership sometimes has extra $10 off purchase so be sure to sign up. read more

As we wandered around State street, we spotted Uniqlo and had to pop in. As many mention, the first thing that hits you is the sewage smell...I mean, they have to be able to do something about that, right? The store is two levels, with the lower level holding majority of the goods, and the lesser offensive smell. So we spent most of our time down there. The brand caters to a younger audience, but many of their styles are timeless. I copped an amazing beanie along with a nice set of gloves for $20! And my partner picked up a shirt that he is now looking to order 5 more of. Selection is great and prices are even better. Very affordable given the quality of the clothing. Service is minimal, but that is by design. The checkout process is completely self-guided and easy. No scanning, just toss your items in the basket and the prices pop up. Coming from an area that does not have a Uniqlo, I was so happy to have one down the street from my hotel. It's one thing to shop online, but to be able to see and touch is another thing. I bought a good handful of items and it didn't break the bank. Unfortunately, their nicer items all seem to be wool or cashmere, which I cannot wear. Somehow I was still able to walk away with a new wardrobe. The staff were all very personable and helpful. The store was clean and organized. Even through check-out, when I suddenly felt like my mom not knowing the current technology, the person stationed at the registers came to my rescue. I'm a huge fan of Uniqlo clothing! This store is twice as big as Woodfield, so of course more inventory and more selection. However because of that, it definitely feels a little tight when you are walking around inside. One nice addition this store has the print your own t-shirt feature and some special Chicago t-shirt prints that you can't get elsewhere. It's more a self-service spot so you'd have to seek someone for help, but they are nice and willing to help you find what you're looking for. Expect to see a line at any Uniqlo if you want to try anything on. Still love walking through and seeing all the t-shirt prints! So far everything I have bought (mostly t-shirts and sweatshirts) from here has lasted through many washes coming out looking just like when I bought it. I cannot believe how many of their clothes are POLYESTER - yuck! In 2024! I only found a single item, a shirt, that was 100% cotton, in the entire store, (and that with an awkward high necked design that is going to take some getting used to before I can stop grabbing the collar and trying to yank it down.) Not even any cotton socks. And their coats, while some are nice looking, look just covered in waterproofing forever chemicals. Lots of clothes still come in plastic bags too. This shop is next to my hotel, so I stopped by to get my sling bag since the creme-colored suitcase I bought in Asia has been overused and a little dirty. I came here for one reason, and one reason alone, for a sling bag, and that's what I did. Many winter styles hung and folded in the stores are worth checking out if you want to add more items to your closet. I love Uniqlo and its style! I really like Uniqlo's clothing - it's modestly priced, generally good quality and covers the basics. I love that they hem pants for a reasonable $5/pair and that their jeans are insanely comfortable. They're heads above others at these prices (Old Navy, HM etc) for overall durability and quality. So why 2 stars? Well, as good as the clothes are Uniqlo really has customer unfriendly policies. Buy it online and want to return to a store? Nope! Buy at a different location and want to return? Nope - has to be returned to the place it was purchased. Don't live near a store? Get ready to pay for any returns or hope to god the sizing charts are accurate (they aren't). Delivery absolutely SUCKS with items generally taking 2-3 weeks to arrive. I stopped at this location hoping to snag a few favorites before my train ride home. The checkout line was staffed by one person, with a long, long line. No other employees willing/able to help so I left without buying because I didn't have a extra 15-20 minutes. Apparently, in 2022, this company doesn't care about you if you are not "normal" or have to carry a baby. How come there is no automatic button to open the doors and assist me, with my disability, to get in and shop like others? Do not buy something from Uniqlo online, unless you are 100% certain you'll want to keep it. I have been shopping at Uniqlo since they opened in Chicago in 2015. I have spent a ton of money with them. But I had never tried to make a return of an item purchased online (I moved away from Chicago 2 years ago.). I followed their instructions & then received an email that my item had been picked up at their warehouse on Dec. 3. Today is Dec. 18 & I still have not received the credit for the returned item. I went online & discovered live customer service does not exist with Uniqlo; one can't even send them an email. After scrolling through innumerable options of possible problem topics, I was finally able to select Live Chat. Of course, the wait time was 10 min. I'll try it in the middle of the night to see if it's a real thing. Who knew there could be a retailer in the year 2024 who would make it so difficult for their customers to make returns? Because the employees here are ready to talk back and disrespect you. And when you want to talk to the manager instead because one of the employees is being so rude she won't even answer questions? As expected, this Uniqlo store on State Street is more compact than the Mag Mile location with its multiple floors and endless escalators. It was not crazy crowded on a Sunday afternoon. The first floor is a little confusing, as I couldn't identify a clear demarcation between men's and women's clothing the farther back I ventured into the store. The lower level is more expansive, and features the Heattech (TM) apparel, in addition to children's clothing and more men's and women's styles. I scored a pair of my favorite lined pants (aka winter game changer) on sale and a pair of leggings. This location is well merchandised and orderly. I believe this is the newest store in Chicago and located close to Chicago theatre and Macy's at N State St. Similar to other stores, I was greeted by staff when entering, make me feel welcome. This is not the largest Uniqlo store but it has every Uniqlo products that I am after. The checkout fast and efficient although line is long and staffs are friendly and eager to help. read more

I like the clothes because they have basics that work really well. But the store associates are sooo incredibly rude. I went in and just wanted to find some thing I saw and they were completely rude to me and told me where ship was just basically ignored me and said that they didn't have though I found it later. another time I tried to return some thing and I had lost the tag so I went to go look for it in the pouring rain and the guy said I can return it if I found it out of the pouring rain when I got back, there was a manager who yelled at me and said no returns if the tag is not attached, even though it doesn't say it on the receipt. I told her that the other associate had told me that I could return it with the tag that I found out in the pouring rain again. She basically started yelling at me, irate, saying that it never no returns without the attached tag. I had only been nice to her the whole time no customer service. This shop seems have no respect to their customers, the staffs are so rude to me and never entertained me, maybe because I dressed like a poor lady as I only wear loose t shirt and short. My wife bought some clothes from the Uniqlo in Seattle and they did not fit. I tried to return the items to the State St location, with all tags and completely unworn, which was purchased with Apple Pay, I was told I could not return the clothes even for store credit. .......I'm not feeling it. Maybe because it's winter everything in the store feels deeply boring and unforgivingly functional... But at this juncture this place does not have my attention, excitement or interest. It's bland, outrageously basic stuff. It seems like the quality is decent, which is a plus, but for the prices suggested there needs to be more in the way of style and design than is currently apparent. The sections weren't very clear either: there was a little bit of everything on both floors. Also, there didn't seem to be any easily identifiable employees other than the young lady in the Uniqlo kimono greeting incoming customers. I may revisit in spring to see what's there, but you're not off to a great start, Uniqlo... The offerings are decidedly less than unique. I wish I could say otherwise, really I do... I used to love this place til I ordered online and saw how restrictive and horrible their customer service is! There is no way to contact a local store. They do not answer Twitter. It took 30 minutes to find the corporate store number. They are closed today due to inclement weather. Isn't everyone working from home now?? I went yesterday to the store to return items. They do NOT take online returns. And you have to return items from a store to the same store you bought it from. It took 2 weeks to get my order. In the meantime, all items had dropped $5-10 in price. They do NOT do price adjustments for online items. I have to pay $7 to return items. They are just the WORST! Their restrictions for returns, etc is pages long. Way too many rules! I will never shop here again. Absolutely awful customer service policies! Beware!! read more

New Uniqlo Store! Nice manageable size compared to the huge one on Michigan Ave. There was a good selection of Women's, Men's and Kids and the store was tidy and clean with wonderful staff. Extra shout out to Mary and Leo who were very kind and helpful. read more
