Four bucks per game on Tuesdays plus four bucks for shoes, and most of the week. It's very quiet, clean, old school looking bowling alley. Well maintained overall. During the week they're open till 10pm. On Fridays it's five bucks per game and they stay open till 1am. They got a full bar, billiards tables, and concession stand with an updated menu. It's nice. My friend got a cheeseburger and pretzel and he enjoyed it and I got fries and I enjoyed them despite not getting as many as I felt I should've. The price for drinks are meh but not terrible. This bowling ally is 100 years old it seems. My grandparents played here. Unfortunately it hasn't been updated in quite some time. The balls are beat up and the decor needs modernized. The return was spitting grease on our balls and ruined our clothes. The front desk moved our lanes. Balls in various sizes are available but we struggled to find ones with holes that suited us. Bowling is about 13.50 for two games which is cheap enough. I recommend you bring your own equipment if you come here. read more

This place could be great but it's being driven into the ground by rude and lazy staff members. Lanes are rarely oiled. Even when the place is slow they won't give you more than 1 lane for 6 bowlers. Food takes forever. Speakers are awful for music. TVs are from the 90's. Also, bring a nice ball at your own risk. Good chance it'll get gouged by the ball return. read more

Blackiston Bowl does it old school. Not so old that you have to keep your own score or anything (we're not cavemen), but it is pretty apparent that very little has been upgraded since the hayday of the PBA. Prices are reasonable for both shoe rental and games. There are some days when you can get a really good deal, particularly if you've got time on weekdays before 5 p.m. which gives you unlimited bowling (as of this post) for a flat rate. The selection of balls (stop snickering) is extensive if you don't have your own (I said stop snickering). There is a room set aside for other games like pool as well as a bar with cheap booze. The staff is always very friendly. If you have a sensitivity to cigarette smoke, this may be a drawback as the building has absorbed the decades of nicotine that I would wager it is acting as an adhesive structural agent by this point. Went in tonight (Friday night) and it was very busy. There were 5 of us in our party but we only needed 1 lane. Put our name on the waiting list and decided we would wait in the bar. We walk in to the bar (we are all 27 years old) and are greeted by the rudest lady. She VERY rudely asks to see our IDs. We all comply, by one of the guys in the group JOKINGLY says "my real one or my fake one"..we all laugh except for the RUDE Lady. She goes on to tell us about how it better be real or we can leave. Of course it was real. My boyfriend was in the restroom so he came in after this opening. She asks to see his ID and he says "do I really look that young?" As he's handing her his ID. she told him to leave because he was being a smart aleck!! He said one joke in a very joking manner. The others at the bar even said WOW. Needless to say we left without getting drinks or bowling. We won't ever be visiting again because of this rude encounter. I can't get over it..If she was irritated it was before we came into the bar. We were having fun and she ended up ruining our night and running off a large group. read more

I am rating this bowling alley with my experience and opinion. I wouldn't dispute what others have said as they are probably very valid. I personally go to Blackiston Bowl weekly with a friend or more to play pool. The tables aren't the best, but better than others I have played on. They are a dollar per game. My youngest daughter bowls there a couple times per week and she likes it fine. She had an online purchased bowling ball drilled to meet her exact finger holes. That was very nicely done. I plan to have a ball I just purchased drilled there also. I started bowling again after many years to spend time with my daughter doing something she likes. The bowling costs seem very fair for what it costs nowadays. They have some specials like 2 games and shoes for $10 during weekdays or Friday and Saturday from 10p to 2a for $16 all you can bowl. There is no military discount. They have some funnel sticks my daughter likes. The staff is friendly with my daughter, friends and I, but you might call us regulars. Blackiston Bowl might look a little dated, but hey have some rocking leagues and cool glow ball at night. They also have bumpers and ramps for children to use to make them more competitive anytime. There is a modest snack bar, drink bar with 2 pool tables and a pool room with 3 tables. In my opinion the housekeeping is pretty decent. read more

This measly little star is for the guy who runs this place. He should honestly get no stars. He's nice when you're giving him money for his overly expensive bowling games and shoes, but can turn in the blink of an eye if he's not getting his way. Kind of like a toddler. I've never seen a "business man" act this way towards paying customers. We were in there for glow bowl yesterday (Saturday night) and stayed until closing time. We were finishing our frame, and of course caught in the moment because all of us are so competitive, my cousin had a single pin in the lane and she was getting ready to finish her turn. The lights came on and it was literally 2:00am on the freaking dot, so she bowled it anyways. Because who wouldn't?! It's on single pin, and this man had the audacity to come over to us and say, "Cut the shit." I'm sorry but you just don't talk to anyone that way. I understand it's closing time, but it's literally a minute and he didn't even let us finish the tiny little bit of a frame. Probably the rudest man on earth and this is not the first ridiculous encounter with this man. He's been rude, and just plain nasty many MANY other times. Considering he's basically the only person working, I might be bitter too. But it's a bowling alley! You collect money, on your butt until it's time to shut it down! I'm sure he can't keep it staffed because he's such an asshole, seriously. It makes you wonder what happened in his life that made him so cross. He even had an assistant last night, which he was a total jerk to. Not too long before that guy quits. So, yelpers, pass this along and don't waste your money here! It seems as if this guy wants his establishment to be shut down anyways because he seems to want no associates or customers. Go enjoy yourself at Hoosier Lanes! All in all, be nice! Especially if you're running an establishment night owls like myself enjoy doing, just be courteous. It not hard. Because instead of getting a goodnight from my friends and I, you had very very angry people. Angry drunk people at that! And I'm sure things were said that weren't so pleasant on our side. I don't go bowling for fun very often, however I go for work every week with my client. I work with a company helping developmentally disabled people. They are awesome! I'm pretty sure they don't even open when we're there, they just let us bowl because they know my client loves it and gets upset if he can't. They always make it fun and I've never had a bad experience here with or without him. read more

Came in from Florida stay with my grandsons ages 7 & 3 and they have never been bowling so yay for it being close by. I called in advance to ask questions about shoes for them and was told as long as they had white soles it was fine for them. Also asked about a ramp for the 3yr old and was told it's mostly for the disabled but if I used and they needed inwould have to give it up for them. Again I agreed. When arriving I was told I had to buy shoes did them even though they had the white soles and was told I COULD NOT use the ramp for the youngest. So this was the start of a bad experience even when I told them I called and who I talked to they refused. I was also ask if I called the right bowling alley. I had to show them my phone log to prove I did. Then I was told the person at that was working at that time was wrong and they didn't know why he was still working for them. Again he refused to honor what I was told. We still wanted to bowl so did what we had to. Which was to pay for shoes in to have my three-year-old grandson bowl without a ramp!! Oh wow they put up the bumpers but he could barely hold a ball let alone push it without assistance so I had to help. Not in my plan that's why I asked about the ramp. A new family with three teenagers came to bowl Next to us and they got a ramp!? So I went to the counter and ask the gentleman why the Family next to me with three teenagers had a ramp and I had a seven-year-old and a three-year-old and was an allowed to use one? So he went over to the family and told them they cannot use the ramp that it was only for children ages 10 and under and for people with a disability. Again he did not tell me 10 and under he only told me for disabled people so with that being said everyone in the establishment was of a Caucasian descent and I am a minority I don't think they like minorities!! Or he just lied!!! I preceded to remain quiet about what I heard him tell them and decided to express this to their parents and anyone else I know to not go there because they made me believe they were racist!! They may not be but they person work make me feel as though he was. He should have accommodated the 3yr old at least since I was a paying customer and no handicap or disabled person was there at the time nor did they come during our visit. Blackiston Bowl is one of those places that could be awesome but the owners just can't quite seem to bring it up to excellence. On the positive side the people who work the register/ shoe rental are always extremely friendly. They have enough lanes that we have never been turned away or had to wait for a lane. The prices to bowl and to rent shoes are fairly reasonable. They have plenty of balls of various weights. They have a VIP lounge with pool tables. They also have both a snack bar and vending machines. This place could be amazing. However, it always feels kind of gross and run down. The place reeks of cigarettes. The women's bathroom is in horrible condition. I walked in today and found that two of the stalls do not lock and the third was clogged. I don't think anything in the place except the addition of computers to the lanes has been updated since the 1970's and not in a cool vintage way. Personally I'd love to see the owners bring in a serious cleaning and maintenance team and give this place some much needed TLC before it slips from being a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon to being another run down has been. read more

The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because the bartender and one of the customers in the bar were nice. The 2 guys up at the counter where you pay to bowl and get shoes were rude to us and they acted like we should know how much it is here. When we finally got it out of them how they do the pricing the guy was like "that's what I've been tryin to get at". Super unprofessional and rude when we just wanted to know how much to pay. Then it was $25.50 for 2 games for 2 people. In the middle of the day. Overpriced if you ask me. The bar was out of jack and some other popular liquors. A bud light and shot of crown with coke in a little plastic cup is almost $10. I would probably recommend trying another bowling alley unless that's all that's around here. Maybe they should employee nicer help and the other things wouldn't even bother me. If the owner sees this, 4 people won't be coming back to this place because of them and I'm sure more won't come here because of them. read more

During league play, lanes were broken down for 30 minutes, and management refused to acknowledge the inconvenience. the VERY LEAST they could have done was buy us a beer - yet they wouldn't even do that. What I like about this place is it's a completely average American bowling alley. It isn't run down but has a very laid back 70's vibe almost that all these great old bowling alleys have anywhere in America. It isn't anything new or exciting. Well when I first got the bowling alley, I was approached by a man of the African decent who greeted me by saying "Wusssup mah nigga". So I dapped him up and scooted on down to the lanes where business was gonna be handled. I had to use the restroom before hand so I made a quick stop by the men's room where I saw blood on the door handle. I walked in and saw more blood leading to the stall in which it looked like one of the workers was eating a dead opossum carcass. He said "oh sorry I will get out of your way" and winked at me and pointed to a tip jar and a hole in the wall in the last stall. Not sure of what to do I put my dick in the hole and by God as Jesus as my witness it was the best BJ I have ever received. Returned to the lanes and bowled a couple games. Great lanes! Shoe prices and bowling prices are very reasonable. They bring in a good crowd, would recommend to anyone in the Kentuckiana area. read more

Zero*....... What a joke.... I call to make a reservation for b day party for my son.. I called them they told me I could walk in make reservation anytime.. I get there they tell me that I can't make a reservation for the Time I told him on the phone.. Make a long story short we did not get our party there.. Because they are not about customer satisfaction or customer loyalty..... I have never had an experience that bad before with the party and that bad of employee giving information out that was wrong... Employee called the owner did not care.. We called Hoosier lanes and they made it very very fair and very very easy!!! They made us very happy!!!!!!! And I have more entertainment and a better bowling alley anyways... It didn't smell like fried food... Thank you Hoosier lanes and honestly thank you Blackston Mill bowling for being such shit our party was better at Hoosier anyway????
