sorry it's out of focus but you can see the sadness

Well I finally made it over to Black's. Just needed a brisket sando bump for the rider home. Easy to park, easy to get in for my order. It was a Saturday around 11am, thought it might be a bit busy, but not. Sat down to munch. Opened the bad and this little burger bun with a few slices of brisket presented it self. Ya, a bit disappointing. They have been around a long time so they must be doing something right. For me this was mid-level at best. You might argue this sandwich is in the H-E-B or Buc-ees league.

We were not sure what to expect since we were just driving through, but we saw several signs and decided to stop for lunch. My husband had heard of Blacks before. You go through the line and pick your sides and then you move over to the meat line. The only thing that I was not happy about was it was so smoky in the restaurant that we smelled like bbq smoker the rest of our day. The chopped beef was good and so was the cream corn. The meat plate was good but not a fan of the potato salad. It was a very family friendly place and the staff were all very welcoming. It is a self serve once you get into the dining room.

Tender, fall apart brisket with just the right amount of smoke. Sides are homey and delicious kinda like a place that's been doing it for nearly a 100 years. This is the real deal. Friendly staff, stay a while.

Best post oak smoked beef brisket and giant sized Flintstone plate ribs. Service is great because my name is on the mailing list for shipping beef to North Carolina. Ambiance is busy and vocal every time I call for delivery. I highly recommend!

Trying to decide what kind of BBQ to have in Texas is a tall order. Go modern, new, classic or traditional just not sure. Opted to try the original Black's. We got there early on a cloudy October morning st about 11AM. When you walk in, you're just sort of out right there in front of the sides without any kind of menu. Good thing we did some studying before hand and knew what we wanted to order. There were 4 of us so we didn't want to over order. We opted for a pint or cole slaw, a pint of mashed potatoes, sides of sweet potatoess, side of gravy and a side of creamed corn. They're really killing it on the sides. Each one was done so well and so flavorful. If they can do sides well than they can do meats so well. We did 1/2 lb of a turkey, 1/2lb chopped brisket, slice of brisket and a quarter chicken. Oh and a link sausage. The chopped brisket mixed with bbq sauce was so so good. We loved it. The slice of brisket was great but did not compare with the chopped. The turkey was probably the 2nd best thing. Very smoky and great flavor. Chicken was ok. The sauasage we would not order again. Too fatty, too salty and in some way too dry. Anyway, overall it was agraat experience and an amazing way to kickoff our bbq adventure. Black's is a good baseline for anyone trying to establish bbq basics in Texas.

A pretty small sliced brisket sandwich with chips and drink for $15

Please don't disown me, but I'm not a big fan of barbecue. I'm just not. But, when you're in Texas, there are certain places you just have to try! The Original Black's Barbecue is one of those places! This was my first time here. When you first walk in the door, that delicious smoke smell hits your nose! It is expensive, just like every other barbecue place in Texas. I got a sliced brisket sandwich, chips, and a drink for $15. While the sandwich was very good, they use the small bun, so the sandwich wasn't very big. The interior is exactly what you would expect. I loved it! Next time you want some BBQ, head for Black's!

Delicious! Don't get this confused with Terry Black's. This is the OG and so much better. Everything is delicious. The bbq and sides - chef's kiss! Would definitely return!

    Beans and moist brisket.

I ordered beans, mashed potatoes and moist brisket and a drink. Total 46.14 They asked me how many slices, I said 3. They proceeded to cut me 3/4" slices. I was a bit shocked he would try to give me so much meat, maybe I should have said 1/4-1/2 lb, my fault. But I thought it would taste good. He managed to sneak in lean meat which was dry. All meat didn't have much flavor, it didn't taste good even after soaking it in sauce. Beans aren't very good either, it's almost like they don't taste what they cook. But the mashed potatoes and brown gravy was tasty.

I don't know too many people that drive down the highway munching from a container of sweet pickles. Do you? I love this first pick for me from the many yummy side items to choose from when you join the que at Black's BBQ. I haven't had a bad meal yet and I recommend stopping by for a plate of ribs, chicken or sausage. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is all Texas with celebrities lining the walls. On your way out don't forget to buy a tshirt or a bottle of their signature bbq sauce. It's all good

Ordered beef brisket, giant beef rib, jalapeño cheddar sausage ring, and Mac & Cheese. The beef brisket was pretty dry and a bit salty. The giant beef rib was the best of the meal. It wasn't too dry or salty. The sausage ring didn't taste great. Service was fast and efficient.

Woohoo, what an experience it was to visit Black's original location. It was tremendous! You know it's gonna be a good barbecue joint when you walk in the place and it's like dining inside a good friend's barn out on their farm. It's that warm country welcome. The decor is like rustic honky-tonk meets meat. The folks that work here are hardworking, sweet, and really put their love into everything from the brisket to the cornbread. I had a chopped beef sandwich, mashed potatoes, and cobbler. The beef was so tender with the perfect hint of smoke. It's like the best backyard food you could ever imagine putting in your belly. We were there at lunch and I liked seeing all of the local workers coming in to eat. That speaks volumes about a local spot with a long history. I think the prices are extremely fair and reasonable. I mean come on, we're paying for edible works of art.

Hello! Yes, they have picnic tables outside the store.

Does Black's ship internationally? I'd love to send a package to family in Italy.

    Why don’t you call them?

Whats days/hours are they open during the flu crisis? Is it take-out only now? Thx

It's a routine I do when I have to do some government business. Kreuz Market is one of my favorite places among their stiff competition in Lockhart. It was in the mid very hot afternoon and not a lot of vehicles parked. I walked inside to get blindsided with extreme heat of an oven. It was hot making the outdoor 100 degrees feel like a cool Fall day. Not sure how the pit masters take it but they gathered my meat order of Half Chicken, Beef Brisket, Spare Ribs, and Hot Jalapeño Cheese Sausage together. The crew were very nice and friendly and headed inside a sealed room where got a blasted of extremely cold air where you order your sides and drinks. Ordered Macaroni & Cheese, Beans, Potato Salad and Sweet Tea. You can site inside this refrigerator or in the oven, but luckily had to go back home with my order. There is plenty of tables in both rooms. I did not see outdoor seating but wont stop you eating in your vehicle like at Buc-ee's. It's truly mouthwatering where the brisket was thick and juicy, chicken roasted with a perfect wood smoked taste, jalapeño sausage addicting with flavor, and spare ribs stripped to the bone after a few wonderful bites. Even the sides were delicious. Tourist will defiantly love this place deep in he heart of Texas culture in BBQ.

The brisket was tough and cutting it so thick made it a challenge to chew. The pork chop was a bit tough as well and lacked smoke flavor. For the price you pay there are other BBQ places with more tender meat, more smoke flavor, and better flavor. The Mac and cheese was overcooked. The sauerkraut was too sweet and they did not offer us any bread. This is my last visit.

Barbecue turkey is honestly an underrated concept and their turkey was juicy, soft, and would change any Thanksgiving meal to one for the history books. I was extremely disappointed in the slice of brisket though. It was extremely chewy like plastic. Decently seasoned but not tender at all. Probably a bit undercooked.
