Tried out their breakfast tacos on a whim, and they were delicious! The Jailhouse was tasty, as well as the brisket/bacon/egg with some bbq sauce. Unassuming place but the signage helps you find the drive thru ordering area. Road is a bit bumpy. Planning to try more items in the future! read more

They are not kidding the best little BBQ Place on Highway 71 west . In Bastrop Texas . First it makes no difference if you are hungry or not because the food is just so good You will eat it , The first bite will melt in your mouth. We ordered two brisket tacos. Super dry brisket loaded with tons of bbq sauce to hide it. Soaked in grease. My wife threw hers away. Honestly it was like they buy a tray of Jack Daniel's brisket from Sam's and serve it for breakfast. I've smoked low and slow for over 20 years, and this ain't it. Don't fool your community. Just a bit off Hwy 71 going "west" into Austin, some of the nicest folks you could ever hope to know are turning out terrific barbecue at "Fittie's" BBQ. Look for a small sign at the edge of the road with an arrow pointing to the "right". You might encounter a bump or two, riding the road to the nearby BBQ building, but this only adds to the authenticity of the experience. "Mr. Fittie" Gratten has been cooking and barbecuing for decades and his finished products are testimony to his Master Skills. The Breakfast Tacos are huge and delicious (Jailhouse is my fav), but let's focus on BBQ: flavorful Brisket, moist, and spiced just right. The owner is Texas Friendly, and that's part of the experience, also, as you will be warmly greeting and served up some memorable Brisket and delicious sides. Just moved to Bastrop and a few people randomly recommended Fitties when I asked about good BBQ places to eat in town. It did not disappoint!! Brisket was on point and flavorful! So yummy! Fast food but the quality isn't. Absolutely the best barbecue in the area and the customer service is always great! Make sure you are not in a low car while coming to this place they are a lot of holes in the road coming in. Would highly recommend this place for a quick bite to eat or if you want grab dinner on your way home. read more

Staying in Smithville for a week. Trying out BBQ joints in the area while we were there. It's definitely worth the drive to Fitties for takeout. Everything we ordered was spot on and delicious. Best we had in the area. No dining room, but a few picnic tables outside in the shade. Call ahead and pick up your order at the drive through window. When we are back in the area, there's only one place for BBQ, that's FITTIE's!! read more

This review breaks my heart to leave . Owners seem super sweet; but I pride myself in leaving REAL honest reviews. With that being said, this is by far theeeee worse bbq I have ever tasted. First, I absolutely hate bbq sauce on my bbq. Give me mine to the side so I can dip as needed. The first red flag that I ignored was when I got out of my car, I didn't get hit with the smell of smoke‍ Then contrary to the previous reviews of cheap prices I shelled out $18 for a plate of pure disappointment. Y'all! This shit was so gross. The brisket was obviously some precooked/sliced crap that they microwaved. The sausage had absolutely no evidence of ever touching a grill. The rice was sad, those beans were flavorless.... chillllle. The ribs... same sadness. I've worked in the food industry so I understand precooking or reheating leftovers but this was NOT that. Nothing ever hit a grill, it didn't look or taste like it. Bucees has better bbq for the same price. -Very Disappointed read more

I bought brisket and it was like rubber. I took a bite and couldn't bite thru it. I took a video of this meat. I was so disgusted with it. The sample he gave me at the window was good so he convinced me to buy some. Turned out it was trash. I won't ever go back again! I'm going to look do the video. By the time I got home which was over 30 min it was too late to go back in traffic. The guy was nice but not enough to go back. read more

Traditional Texas BBQ, brisket is chewy and doesn't melt in your mouth. Sauce is vinegar based, which is not my families favorite. Sausage is sausage, ribs were same as the brisket, not very good. Potato salad is 3rd patty Cisco, beans are bland. No deserts and only drive through. Oh and this place is not cheap. Any time I have to spit the brisket out because it feels more like gum than melt in your mouth meat, it's not worth taking to your gut. It would sit in my stomach for the day. read more

Im new to Texas, barely know anyone and homesick not just for familiar faces but for good home comfort food wishing I knew where to go... My new neighbor suggests Fitties so I hit Hwy 71 looking for this little trailer down a dirt road. It was worth slamming on my brakes, circling back once I saw it! Glad they have a big sign now, it was too easy to miss without it. Best breakfast burrito I have ever had and my dogs second the motion! It is hereby declared our favorite place for breakfast! Let me start my review with a disclaimer. I was looking for breakfast and on the menu they list breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast platters, etc. I went today (2/15/2020 Saturday at 12noon). Excited to try out a couple breakfast tacos and breakfast sandwich, and was informed they stop serving breakfast at 11am. What a huge disappointment. This may have marginally biased my review but I stand by it. But they should definitely serve breakfast all day or at least until late afternoon on weekends. Since I was there, thought I would try their lunch. I ordered a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink ($10 + change). The portion size was good - met my expectations. As for the taste buds, the meal was rather...basic. Not bad, but nothing special either. It satisfied my hunger but missed an opportunity to be amazing. It kinda reminded me of decent cafeteria type food. That's the best way for me to describe it. Pros: - variety of food options for a walk up counter - friendly staff/owners - fast service (about 5 mins) - portion size is good Cons: - doesn't serve breakfast later on weekends - doesn't visibly state breakfast ends at 11am - lacking flavor (not bad, just not memorable) That being said, you should definitely try it for yourself and come up with our own opinion. Not sure how I have missed this place all these years...Being thats it kinda on the outskirts of Down Town Bastrop....Open at 5am Im sure they get a lot of highway traffic. There is a $15 minimum for Credit card orders...So having to order an extra taco wasnt a problem..Service was prompt and friendly...We went with the Marty, Bacon, Egg and Cheese 2X and a Brisket, Egg and Cheese...The salsa on the side was a nice touch, and very good...Tacos were pipping hot and the eggs has a great fried, griddle taste. Service is efficient and nice. Full bar. Pretty good cocktails. I've really become a fan of the chicken fried chicken. Shrimp &grits is the bomb. Burgers are all pretty good as well. Prices are awesome! Unlike ATX, this place has good food, good beer, good cocktails, good people, and it doesn't break the bank!

And they offer both options every day/all day, which is great. She'll come back with her sister to enjoy it again. I had two breakfast tacos: one with egg, sausage and cheese and the other with migas. I really loved the migas. While the first taco was unremarkable, the migas was great. It was perfect, in fact. And it really celebrates their home made corn and flour tortillas. The only thing I didn't like was the salsa. It tasted like canned tomatoes and it was a wee bit salty and not very spicy. I really liked the migas, though. It was made with fresh jalapeño and had just the right amount of heat without needing any salsa. So I think this is one of those places that does some things very well... enough to build up a solid base of regulars, even though some of their other offerings were disappointing, like improperly reheated enchiladas. But if you know what to order, you can really enjoy this place. Oddly enough, they have chorizo on the menu, but don't list it among the available proteins on the breakfast taco menu, which I personally find very strange. Chorizo and egg is such an iconic breakfast taco offering. I'll bet they'd do it justice.
