Stopped by on the way to Austin located on the side of the road down a path in a trailer. Immediately I was greeted by a friendly smile. I ordered the Lucy special since I'm on a diet it's a lean brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad. The potato salad was so good it was flavorful and was glad I made that choice. So yummy! Fast food but the quality isn't. Absolutely the best barbecue in the area and the customer service is always great! Make sure you are not in a low car while coming to this place they are a lot of holes in the road coming in. This review breaks my heart to leave . Owners seem super sweet; but I pride myself in leaving REAL honest reviews. With that being said, this is by far theeeee worse bbq I have ever tasted. First, I absolutely hate bbq sauce on my bbq. Give me mine to the side so I can dip as needed. The first red flag that I ignored was when I got out of my car, I didn't get hit with the smell of smoke‍ Then contrary to the previous reviews of cheap prices I shelled out $18 for a plate of pure disappointment. Y'all! This shit was so gross. The brisket was obviously some precooked/sliced crap that they microwaved. The sausage had absolutely no evidence of ever touching a grill. The rice was sad, those beans were flavorless.... chillllle. The ribs... same sadness. I've worked in the food industry so I understand precooking or reheating leftovers but this was NOT that. Staying in Smithville for a week. Trying out BBQ joints in the area while we were there. It's definitely worth the drive to Fitties for takeout. Everything we ordered was spot on and delicious. I bought brisket and it was like rubber. I took a bite and couldn't bite thru it. I took a video of this meat. I was so disgusted with it. The sample he gave me at the window was good so he convinced me to buy some. Turned out it was trash. I won't ever go back again! I'm going to look do the video. Traditional Texas BBQ, brisket is chewy and doesn't melt in your mouth. Sauce is vinegar based, which is not my families favorite. Sausage is sausage, ribs were same as the brisket, not very good. Potato salad is 3rd patty Cisco, beans are bland. No deserts and only drive through. Oh and this place is not cheap. Any time I have to spit the brisket out because it feels more like gum than melt in your mouth meat, it's not worth taking to your gut. It would sit in my stomach for the day. read more

Let me start my review with a disclaimer. I was looking for breakfast and on the menu they list breakfast tacos, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast platters, etc. I went today (2/15/2020 Saturday at 12noon). Excited to try out a couple breakfast tacos and breakfast sandwich, and was informed they stop serving breakfast at 11am. What a huge disappointment. This may have marginally biased my review but I stand by it. But they should definitely serve breakfast all day or at least until late afternoon on weekends. Since I was there, thought I would try their lunch. I ordered a double cheeseburger, fries and a drink ($10 + change). The portion size was good - met my expectations. As for the taste buds, the meal was rather...basic. Not bad, but nothing special either. It satisfied my hunger but missed an opportunity to be amazing. It kinda reminded me of decent cafeteria type food. That's the best way for me to describe it. Pros: - variety of food options for a walk up counter - friendly staff/owners - fast service (about 5 mins) - portion size is good Cons: - doesn't serve breakfast later on weekends - doesn't visibly state breakfast ends at 11am - lacking flavor (not bad, just not memorable) That being said, you should definitely try it for yourself and come up with our own opinion. Not sure how I have missed this place all these years...Being thats it kinda on the outskirts of Down Town Bastrop....Open at 5am Im sure they get a lot of highway traffic. There is a $15 minimum for Credit card orders...So having to order an extra taco wasnt a problem..Service was prompt and friendly...We went with the Marty, Bacon, Egg and Cheese 2X and a Brisket, Egg and Cheese...The salsa on the side was a nice touch, and very good...Tacos were pipping hot and the eggs has a great fried, griddle taste.
