    Crowded loud and uncomfortable

Fat black bouncer refused to let my friend in on his birthday. I would say he has a complex but there's no point in stating the obvious. Last experience with the same "bouncer" he ask to see my id because I stepped out on the patio and wanted to go inside to use the restroom. He acted like he didn't just ask me for my id less than 60 seconds before that. Mind you the bar itself is over priced, uncomfortable and just boring. Hard pass. Won't be coming back, please learn to train your bouncers or remove the ones that can't remember carding someone for 60 seconds.

~ Shoutout SAM for being so uninviting ~ (Bigger guy with glasses and a half beard mustache thing he's growing) Hopefully he didn't just pomas that name because when I asked him the first 2 times, you definitely can see the wheels trying to crank but wasn't turning, Lol! Came here after dinner to grab some drinks with a girlfriend and the bartender SAM was so rude the second we walked in. We asked if we could try 2 types of beer (bc I never order my drink myself, I always have my bf order it for me). We asked to try a cider & a IPA beer and he was really hesitant bc as he was saying "if you don't like then why try it." Um sir.. if I don't try it, how can I commit to a full size drink?.. Sam then aggressively puts & pushes the cup of an IPA sample to me because he saw me walk away (he thought I was leaving) I was just taking snap shots for Yelp while waiting for him to make his rounds. I tried it and I liked it! It was literally exactly what I wanted. So for him to assume that I didn't even like it is was not very nice. He just met me like 2 minutes ago and there are different IPAs. Is it a crime to want a little sip of it before buying a full cup? - then proceeds to ask us for our ID's again AFTER giving us two filled sample cups of Cider and IPA.. He then proceeds to say our ID's were fake and that my passport is fake because I was born in an early year than everyone there (everyone there was looked around 35-70) Well anyways, I'm glad he refused our service because: 1. He was EXTREMELY RUDE from the start - not welcoming us in (okay whatever he's busy) but giving our drink and then checking our ID AFTER is kinda crazy... what if I actually wasn't old enough? Smh Sam Be more careful Sam!!! ! Don't serve drinks and then accuse customers that their ID is fake ! 2. The vibes in the place was definitely not it. It was weird from the beginning but we thought why not. Definitely trusting my gut next time. Thanks Sam! I'm glad you thought we were younger than we actually are ;) but no need to be so rude yk - If you want good service this is NOT the place. I've never met such a rude bartender - ambiance is mid compared to what I'm used to but just thought we'd stop by and continue our catch-up here.

Went in on a week night around dinner time and it wasn't too busy but we just went for a drink before dinner. The bartender wasn't too busy but he was very slow. Very very slow to come to serve me. The bar had empty seats and he didn't clean the seats so it was a little unwelcoming and made me feel like I shouldn't have been at the bar. Once served though I was happy. The drink was really good so I was happy there. It was loud so it's not exactly a chatting spot but it's a bar- it's been here for awhile and there's a reason for that.

Even though it was St Patrick's Day and the bar was slammed, we had incredible service and drinks. I didn't get our first bartenders name who made us our first two drinks but he was so awesome. You could see the care he put into each cocktail. Even on the waters he brought us, he put a lemon and a lime wedge on it. Even when he refilled the waters he put a FRESH lemon and lime wedge. Those details do not go unnoticed. Thank you! Liz was standing in front of where we were seated and we had great conversations with her. Even though she was super busy making drinks, she talked to us for a while and was so friendly and professional. The drink prices were very good, especially for the quality and the location of the bar (right in downtown Redwood City). Overall, ambiance was so fun with a DJ putting on some great music and people all around enjoying themselves.

The bar itself is fine. I encountered very rude staff, especially the bouncer who wouldn't let people seating outside in the patio back in to close the tab. I have no idea how this can be even a legal practice.

Came here for a Sunday evening night cap and it was great! It has a dive bar vibe but great beer AND cocktails. The prices were great and I'd come back in a heartbeat. I have to give a notable shoutout that the bathroom was very clean!

Liz was our bartender she was amazing she was able to adjust the flavors on the menu based on our taste preferences. She also made cocktails that were not on the menu. If you want delicious cocktails, great service and an awesome bartender look for Liz. The ambience of the bar is very sexy, cool, hip and modern. Great for a date. Overall a great experience!!

Layla -- very tasty and refreshing. Tropical, but balanced.

Friendly service, good drinks, and nice atmosphere. Very chill place, love the music here. I think having a printed menu to review drink options would be a great addition!

    Their Old Fashioned is delicious!

We arrived starving after a long hike at nearby Corte de Madera, and were craving some comfort food and beer to appease our appetites, and Ghostwood hit the spot! The Good: * Street, lot, and garage parking available, but more on that later. * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Game room in the back with pool, pinball, and other forms of entertainment. * 50% off all drinks Fri & Sat night from 9 p.m. until closing. * Happy Hour Mon - Fri 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. * QR code menu ordering and payment through Toast, which is our favorite. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Fresh housemade beers and full complement of spirits and mixed drinks. * Chicken Tacos were a pleasant surprise, as they were delicious and packed with chicken and toppings. * Redwood Rodeo Burger was an outstanding smashburger! So much flavor and the meat-to-toppings-to-bread ratio was perfect. Definitely hit the spot! * Special big ups to the Beef Tallow Fries that were crispy and just fantastic. The Meh: * It is a family-friendly establishment, so prepare for unsupervised kids running amok in the game room while the parents get plastered. -_- * I thought the Fried Pickles were pretty good, but Carissa felt like they needed more batter or something. The Ugly: * Downtown Redwood City can be extremely popular, especially on weekends, so parking can be a real hassle. I'd recommend finding the Jefferson Avenue Garage which gives you the first two hours for free. Conclusion: Come for the beer but stay for the food. Highly recommended.

It's been a minute since I've been to LV Mar but the food is still tasty, albeit a bit pricey. They are kind of the upscale sister to La Viga afterall. We started the meal with the birria fries which were pretty good. I liked the huge chunks of beef which were really nice and tender but I would have liked to see more inclusion of birria into the dish instead of just the meat, like maybe some of the consommé on the side to dip or maybe tossing some cilantro, onions with the cheese or giving it that fresh squeeze of lime. As is, it's fries with some melted cheese and the chunks of birria. Good, but not a standout to me. My personal favorite came with my tacos. I really liked the scallop taco which came on a jicama "tortilla". It was sweet but crisp and worked well with the fried scallop which was also done well and not over fried. I also really liked the huitlacoche which is a bit of a rare find. It's like corn and mushrooms had a baby. It was really tasty. Both of these completely outdid the pork belly taco which was honestly very good in its own right too. The only downside is that the price is about $8 PER TACO which is a lot so while I applaude the creativity for some, that's tough to choose regularly. Overall, food was good and the vibe was fun. It's a good option on Broadway in Redwood City (but yes, I also think you should choose La Viga first).

We arrived at about 1:00-1:30 and the inside main dining area was already closed to patrons as staff prepared for the evening service. The host's tone did not encourage potential customers to dine there during the transition to dinner prep. Not a great first impression that gave off a late arrival so you'll get what's leftover vibe which was exacerbated by being forgotten for what seemed to be a half hour before our waitperson came to take our order. We chose to sit in the front sidewalk patio which was cold and windy not an alternate choice we will need to make again. We ended up sitting across from two loud, self-centered, immature, foul-mouthed college grad girls bragging about studying for their masters attempting to appear cultured were distracting everyone on that patio. After we placed our order, we finished up the app and hubbs was furious they forgot about his glass of pinot which arrived without an apology for the delay preceding our plate arrivals. I had the ny strip steak on the breakfast menu which came out perfectly med-well & added cilantro rice which was good although a little sticky not fluffy. Hubbs had the salmon which looked amazing and he enjoyed the mango sauce--the dish just didn't fill him up. Good thing we ordered fresh chips, salsa& guac.--which was very well prepared; the freshest guac I've ever had. It had fresh chopped tomatoes & green chiles all perfectly combined. Our wait person/food server made up for the less than stellar first impression of the host. And the food was flavorful. The ambiance was ruined by the diners across from us and the forgetfulness of taking our orders timely and serving the wine after the appetizer couldn't bring us back from what started out as negative experience. There are many restaurants up & down the bay that we aren't bothered. This wasn't the best reception nor dining experience and we are moving on. We hope it's a lesson and possibly could've just been a bad day for the crew, and unfortunately there is so much competition out there. We highly recommend the food for its freshness and flavor; recommend the salmon dish for its flavor and balance but not for its portion size. And wish this place nothing but the best and to improve where they dropped the ball.
