T&S Double Smash Burger with onion rings instead of fries

I've been here twice. Once in 2025 and most recently January 2026 to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday. The staff is lovely and attentive. The food presentation is beautifully done and the taste is amazing! The price is a bit expensive so keep that in mind. Their drinks are stupendous, both the cocktails and alcohol free creations they have. The ambiance is a bit of dim lighting and broody which sets a lovely tone for dinner.

Dined at T&S on New Year's Eve. While the food was satisfactory, the standout of the evening was the exceptional cocktail program. Service was efficient from start to finish--orders were taken promptly, and the food arrived quickly as well. I would definitely return to explore more of their cocktails, though I would likely skip the food on a future visit. Food 3 Stars Cocktails 5 Stars

Since we were all randomly free on a Sat, we decided to have dinner at a halfway point between SF and SJ. After looking around, we decided on Redwood City. It was easy to make a same day rezzie. I believe I booked our table around 12 noon that day. We were both thirsty and hungry. Tho I say from our order, pur thirst took front and center. I had a spicy margarita earlier so I wanted to stay on my spicy kick with the whoa. Compared to my last drink, this was definitely lighter. Could have used an extra shot. Our of the foos, I enjoyed the fries. Cripsy but soft int he middle. Steak wise, we ordered the ribeye, but they gave us the new york hence the adjustment above. The resto was pretty busy so has a boisterous kinda environment. I think our server was covering a lot of tables as he was running around everywhere. We'd have to flag him down to get more silverware, sauces, etc. Nothing against him since I know how it can be, but maybe they needed more coverage that day. Plus I think someone was shadowing him? Glad I checked this place out. And Redwood City is a fun midway point for my group. REVIEW #3820

I came here with a couple of colleagues & was surprised at how flavorful & creative my meal was, and how kind, approachable & helpful our service was. We were seated outside, which does have very comfortable heaters if needed on a cold night. The table space was comfortable for a group of three, and we are able to share appetizers & drinks easily. Great for a casual energy while enjoying great food. Everything was a standout, there's nothing I wouldn't order again in the future. The Smash Burger was enormous and allowed me to take home leftovers. A member of our party ordered the Bao again for his entree, they are that good. Whether you're on your own, with a small group or on a date, Timber & Salt brings a classy, approachable quality to this part of Redwood City. Definitely worth a visit.

came here on a Tuesday evening, walked in at 6p for drinks + apps for 2 ppl while waiting for our table at another Redwood City restaurant. front of restaurant seating area holds sound quite sensitively, so if you speak loudly - you will pretty much be yelling at all the tables around you lol we had a pair of dinner salads + cocktails; they were pricey at $34-35 per salad (including tax+tip) since we added protein, but perfectly prepared and all specific requests were honored to a tee. (light dressing tossed in salad, parmesan on the side, olive in cocktail) their salad dressings and blue cheese stuffed olives were all made in-house so they were not too salty - delicious! What we ordered: Winter Seasonal Cocktails: That Fellin' $18 Burrata and goat cheese gin, dry vermouth, Suze, eggplant cucumber basil syrup So Alive $17 Blended Scotch, Falernum, bianco vermouch, Absinthe, honey bitters Dinner Salads: T&S Caesar $16 Little gem lettuce, white anchovies, furikake, Masago rice crackers + $9 grilled chicken thigh 6 oz. Asian Chopped Salad $17 Mandarin orange, Napa cabbage, iceberg cabbage, crispy wonton, sesame seed, red onion, soy miso dressing + $9 grilled chicken thigh 6 oz. total bill for 2 dinner salads + 2 cocktails was $111 after 9.825% tax + 20% tip. value for portion sizes could have been a bit better, but overall it was a nice spot with excellent service from our server, Tammy, and the rest of the staff.

I wanted to dine at Timber & Salt for a proper dinner date and they did not disappoint! We came for an early dinner without a reservation but they were able to seat us. We were on a tight schedule so we got the Brussel sprouts, garlic whipped potato, and scallops to share. The service was attentive and well-paced. I love the ambiance here; it's comfortable for a solo date or a small group. My gut doesn't tolerate a lot of carbs any more, so I appreciate the veggie- and protein-filled menu. I highly recommend getting variety of dishes to share or nourish yourself. Easy to get to from multiple parking lots and street parking. Will return!

Went on a Saturday night for dinner. Got a table right away outdoors. It has succulents planted and also heaters above which was welcomed as it was a little chilly Ordered a couple of non alcoholic drinks. Tell me- was a nice ube and coconut milk based drink. Not overpoweringly sweet. Nice flavor Just a touch- on the sweet side. Sour drink. Didn't taste the guava much. It was kind of a like a unique lemonade Arancini- very tasty with the Calabrian chili. The Meyer lemon aoli was an interesting pairing with it Curry fried chicken- my friend had this and enjoyed it but said that it lacked a carb component Gnocchi Putanesca - the capers and crispy shallots uplifted the dish.

Redwood City continues to up their establishment game. Another homer for their libation scorecard. Stopped in for post dinner cocktails and mocktails following dinner at Limon next door (see YR). The continuation of a birthday celebration, our party of six intended to grab seats at the bar, but were graciously offered a table instead. We were welcomed into an intimate indoor space, but open patio seating is also available. The beverage menu boasts expertly crafted cocktails and mocktails (keep in mind they do not offer any accommodations or modifications), by their resident mixologist. Each were balanced, and well garnished encased within an appropriate vessel. Their wine list is ample with a plethora of varietals as well. Being well into my Dry January; I opted for the Easy and Cold Nights - two of their dozen or so N/A choices. Both equally delicious, and enticing to the senses. All others in our party enjoyed their cocktails of choice which ran the gamut of the menu. We did not partake in any food options this visit, but will definitely return to enjoy their offerings. Not worth omitting a star, but slight downside is a hard line no accommodation policy may deter some guests.

Enjoyed a Friday night dinner on their patio. Heaters and enclosure kept it reasonably warm. Tables inside also looked cozy, but music in there was a bit loud and most of the two tops were tightly packed--the kind where you're further from your dining partner than the strangers on either side and you have to pretend you aren't hearing every word each other says... Cocktails were solid--they had a good mix of spirit-forward options like the Old Fashioned variants we ordered and more complicated stuff (think house made syrups and infusions). My drink seemed a bit of a light pour for $19, but tasted good. Had buffalo cauliflower and arancini for apps. Both fine, but neither blew us away. Arancini was crunchy but fell apart immediately when cut. Cauliflower was under seasoned and not nearly buffalo enough for me. Fried chicken was well-prepared, greens and cheese grits tasty and not overly salty. It was a great dish. Beet salad lovely to look but on the oily side and not that many beets. Would skip the salad next time. Service was strong. All in all, enjoyed it and will come back, but room for improvement.

Delicious! We got the ribeye with tuna steak app. The tuna steak app was cheaper and around the same prize as the entree. I usually gravitate towards steak, but decided to mix it up with tuna and it did not disappoint. My only regret for the night was that I ordered a second cocktail before I knew there were dessert cocktails! I will definitely be back for drinks maybe after a movie at cinemark to try the dessert cocktails. Good dinner place for special events. Not very crowded during a week night which helped provide a more intimate dining experience.

Timber & Salt - a restaurant and bar with hipster vibes. Stopped by here with a buddy for a drink at the bar before dinner. We were welcomed immediately upon entering and invited to sit at the bar for our drink. Friendly staff and bartender. I ordered an Old Fashioned, which was crafted with the perfect amount of alcohol and sweetness. My friend ordered the Sweeter Sound which contained Mezcal, strawberry agave, ginger, lime, and bitters. You can also order food or appetizers at the bar, which I'd love to try next time. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Redwood City to try some of their other cocktails and apps.

We'd like to share our experience at Timber & Salt. We visited on a Friday evening, during peak hours, and the restaurant was fully packed. Despite the crowd, the food and drinks were served incredibly fast. We especially want to highlight the bartender -- unfortunately, we don't know his name. He had a large gray beard, a shaved head, and wore big black glasses. A true professional -- focused, efficient, and no unnecessary talk. As for the taste of the food and cocktails -- that's a whole other story. You just have to come in and try it for yourself. We're very grateful to the team for such great service. My wife and I had a wonderful Friday night.

So much flavor and the meat-to-toppings-to-bread ratio was perfect. Definitely hit the spot! * Special big ups to the Beef Tallow Fries that were crispy and just fantastic. The Meh: * It is a family-friendly establishment, so prepare for unsupervised kids running amok in the game room while the parents get plastered. -_- * I thought the Fried Pickles were pretty good, but Carissa felt like they needed more batter or something. It's been a minute since I've been to LV Mar but the food is still tasty, albeit a bit pricey. They are kind of the upscale sister to La Viga afterall. We started the meal with the birria fries which were pretty good. I liked the huge chunks of beef which were really nice and tender but I would have liked to see more inclusion of birria into the dish instead of just the meat, like maybe some of the consommé on the side to dip or maybe tossing some cilantro, onions with the cheese or giving it that fresh squeeze of lime. As is, it's fries with some melted cheese and the chunks of birria. Good, but not a standout to me. My personal favorite came with my tacos. I really liked the scallop taco which came on a jicama "tortilla". It was sweet but crisp and worked well with the fried scallop which was also done well and not over fried. I also really liked the huitlacoche which is a bit of a rare find. It's like corn and mushrooms had a baby. It was really tasty. Both of these completely outdid the pork belly taco which was honestly very good in its own right too. The only downside is that the price is about $8 PER TACO which is a lot so while I applaude the creativity for some, that's tough to choose regularly. Overall, food was good and the vibe was fun. It's a good option on Broadway in Redwood City (but yes, I also think you should choose La Viga first).

We arrived at about 1:00-1:30 and the inside main dining area was already closed to patrons as staff prepared for the evening service. The host's tone did not encourage potential customers to dine there during the transition to dinner prep. Not a great first impression that gave off a late arrival so you'll get what's leftover vibe which was exacerbated by being forgotten for what seemed to be a half hour before our waitperson came to take our order. We chose to sit in the front sidewalk patio which was cold and windy not an alternate choice we will need to make again. We ended up sitting across from two loud, self-centered, immature, foul-mouthed college grad girls bragging about studying for their masters attempting to appear cultured were distracting everyone on that patio. After we placed our order, we finished up the app and hubbs was furious they forgot about his glass of pinot which arrived without an apology for the delay preceding our plate arrivals. I had the ny strip steak on the breakfast menu which came out perfectly med-well & added cilantro rice which was good although a little sticky not fluffy. Hubbs had the salmon which looked amazing and he enjoyed the mango sauce--the dish just didn't fill him up. Good thing we ordered fresh chips, salsa& guac.--which was very well prepared; the freshest guac I've ever had. It had fresh chopped tomatoes & green chiles all perfectly combined. Our wait person/food server made up for the less than stellar first impression of the host. And the food was flavorful. The ambiance was ruined by the diners across from us and the forgetfulness of taking our orders timely and serving the wine after the appetizer couldn't bring us back from what started out as negative experience. There are many restaurants up & down the bay that we aren't bothered. This wasn't the best reception nor dining experience and we are moving on. We hope it's a lesson and possibly could've just been a bad day for the crew, and unfortunately there is so much competition out there. We highly recommend the food for its freshness and flavor; recommend the salmon dish for its flavor and balance but not for its portion size. And wish this place nothing but the best and to improve where they dropped the ball.

Drinks are interesting and different, everything on the menu from the bites to drinks have a little Japanese fusion or influence going on. We pretty much tried every small plate on the menu. Most of it was delicious, a couple were just meh (katsu was not anything special, not was the duck meatball). Other than that, and over all, would highly recommend this spot in general. Btw the bar is from the same proprietor as the restaurant Protégé (across the street). Fun little bar for some music and drinks, they even have a disco ball.

Okay okay okay. So. Listen. San Carlos. Little town. Little sleepy little town on the peninsula,…read moreright? It's 9pm and I'm just walking down Laurel Street, which by the way has some REALLY good spots, they really do, and then. THEN. I hear it. Pianos. Two of them. Are they fighting?? No wait, they're DUELING. Two guys absolutely going at it on the keys, taking requests, and the crowd is just vibing. I mean really vibing. The cocktails are flowing, people are singing, and somewhere in the back of my head a little voice says "this is going to be a late night." I did not listen to that voice. No regrets. The whiskey selection is, and I say this with complete authority and only slightly blurry vision, "surprisingly incredible". The cocktails are also dialed in, they've got concoctions on the menu that you may have never heard of, or just pick the vibe you're going for and trust the process. I trusted the process. Multiple times. I used to go to Savannah Jazz back in the day. RIP, still not over it, but honestly?? This place might actually be BETTER. I said what I said. The music hits different when it's right in the middle of the whole room instead of tucked in the back somewhere. Oh and there's an outdoor area too for when you need some of that cool peninsula night air to... recalibrate. I used it. It helped. Briefly.
